Are there a disproportionate amount of Scots on MN?

AIBU in thinking there is a disproportionately large amount of Scots on MN? Before I continue, there is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this, just an observation.

I very often see on the "what are you doing today" threads posted on a Sunday that they are going to the supermarket at 9am... where England and Wales don't have extended Sunday trading hours. Or lots of "I'll be voting SNP at the general election".

Anyone else noticed this? I wonder what the percentage of active users are English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and others?

TheStaleBiscuitofDoom · 27/11/2019 20:33

Sorry but Bearsden which is in East Dunbartonshire does not count as Glasgow.

nononever · 27/11/2019 20:34

Can't believe how many Irvine Central babies are on this thread! It isn't exactly a metropolis.

Jaggythistle · 27/11/2019 20:44

Invernesian here, born in Raigmore.

Ah stay in the Kingdom now and have learned to swear a lot more. But it's braw here. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 My bairns are Fifers I guess!

I've never voted SNP but need to consider it this time, due to the demographics in my constituency. 🙈

Sotiredsomuch · 27/11/2019 20:48

Not just 9am opening. 24 hour opening means that bar Christmas/new year. 2am on a Sunday if I fancy I can do my weekly shop and have done.

Likethebattle · 27/11/2019 21:05

@Squeakymumtime and @Sotiredsomuch small world. I noticed a lot of changes last time I was there.

TickleMeEmo · 27/11/2019 21:06

It's not in Glasgow city area but it's a suburb of Glasgow.

Didyeaye · 27/11/2019 21:11

Hehe this is fun to read. Few north Lanarkshironians (?)

I’m from Bearsden, living now in ‘what’s it called?’ Wink

soufflesavant · 27/11/2019 21:12

Glasgow here!

Best city in the world Grin

dreichthanksgiving · 27/11/2019 21:14

Surely everyone within a 50 mile radius of Glasgow knows Bearsden is the posh bit of Glasgow.
My Dad was delighted when I bought my first car from a house there, believing it would be in good shape.
The exhaust fell off on the way home. We would have done better to visit his old home of pollockshaws I reckon.

peanutandavocado · 27/11/2019 21:17

What's your point OP?

Mrsjayy · 27/11/2019 21:24

@FrancisCrawford a relative of mine used to tour with Jimmy Shand a billion years ago

StoneofDestiny · 27/11/2019 21:53

Glaswegian living in exile south of the border. Wish I could vote SNP!

LittleCandle · 27/11/2019 22:08

I'm fae Aberdeenshire, but noo livin' in Embra - not that I actually speak like that down here, as nobody would understand me! I knew the guy who sold Jimmy Shand his accordions!

I know. I live there, but they aren't Glaswegians. I'm from Glasgow, and I draw the line at including East Dunbartonshire. Even if I like it. Grin

Amortentia · 27/11/2019 23:10

Naw it isnay! 😂

Although, I'm sure Glasgow City Council would love to be able to collect council tax from Bearsden or Milngavie.

RainySnowyDay · 27/11/2019 23:15

Another teuchter here!

Have lived in various parts though, including Glasgow, Newton Meringues, ‘embra, Perth, Fife, and the ‘Nauld (what’s it called?). Now live an ocean away, but the islands will always be home!
