Are there a disproportionate amount of Scots on MN?

AIBU in thinking there is a disproportionately large amount of Scots on MN? Before I continue, there is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this, just an observation.

I very often see on the "what are you doing today" threads posted on a Sunday that they are going to the supermarket at 9am... where England and Wales don't have extended Sunday trading hours. Or lots of "I'll be voting SNP at the general election".

Anyone else noticed this? I wonder what the percentage of active users are English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and others?

My gran lived in Saltcoats

Nothing like a summer’s day in Saltcoats in the rain. ☔️ 🌧

dementedpixie · 05/12/2019 22:40

She used to have a hut in the back garden and would have sand and shells collected from the beach and we spent hours playing with it.

Foldinglaundryisnotforme · 05/12/2019 22:42

My partner is from Saltcoats Smile

Wantarefund · 05/12/2019 22:52

Anyone got tickets for Elfingrove and seen the awful reviews? Sad

weebarra · 05/12/2019 23:11

@Floralmoral - me too. Midlothian is so wee I'm always waiting to be outed. I was once!

JockTamsonsBairns · 05/12/2019 23:16

Nae'bdy here fae Perth?

Floralmoral · 05/12/2019 23:47

weebarra I’m pretty sure I’ve found two of my colleagues on MN and quite possibly they recognised me too. But MN is like fight club - you do not talk about MN Grin

highlandcoo · 05/12/2019 23:56

My mum used to say "Teenie frae Troon looking for Saltcoats".

I never had a clue what she meant Grin

SciFiScream · 06/12/2019 00:21

Waves from East Lothian! Born in the Western General near Seafield. It's demolished now. Also just wanting to try out the emoji Smile

Butchyrestingface · 06/12/2019 00:21

I’ve heard Teenie frae Troon from my late mum. Can’t imagine what the Saltcoats part meant.

lowlandLucky · 06/12/2019 07:29

emummy how cool is that , i want a rope bridge for the squirrels

lowlandLucky · 06/12/2019 07:34

I was lucky enough to be born in Thornyflat cottage hospital in the town of" Ayr, wham ne'er a town surpasses, for honest men and bonnie lasses"

LemonadePockets · 06/12/2019 07:36

I'm not just from Scotland. I'm from Govan. Rab C Nesbitt's birth place Gin

LemonadePockets · 06/12/2019 07:38

@Wantarefund yes, me ;(

Not even embarrassing myself by trying to sell them. Just leaving them unused. GlasGlow was good so I had very high expectations. Shame so many people have been let down

Wantarefund · 06/12/2019 07:54

@LemonadePockets I wonder if Itison will address it at all. I’ve advertised mine because I could really do with recouping the money but I highly doubt I’ll be able to sell them. Not a happy bunny.

LemonadePockets · 06/12/2019 08:06

@wantarefund

I bought mine off a friend. Only £15 so I'm quite fortunate it's not much lost. I'm keen to see if they address it or make any improvements. I really did think it was going to be a really Christmassy event. The videos looked fab but of course, they show nothing of the inside. So many people furious about paying so much for a walk round the museum in the dark when they can go for free with lights on during the day!

IHaveBrilloHair · 06/12/2019 10:31

I'm a blow in too, been here 19 years now, a wee town on the Clyde, the one with the Waitrose Grin
Dd was bro I the Vale, just moved to the Southside this year now she's 18, I hope to follow next year, though exact area unknown, Govan is scoring fairly highly, although West end would be amazing it's unlikely.

We have tickets for Elfingrove but we're near the end of the run. Fingers crossed they might make improvements or sneaking into the museum at night will be magical enough for the DC.
