Are there a disproportionate amount of Scots on MN?

AIBU in thinking there is a disproportionately large amount of Scots on MN? Before I continue, there is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this, just an observation.

I very often see on the "what are you doing today" threads posted on a Sunday that they are going to the supermarket at 9am... where England and Wales don't have extended Sunday trading hours. Or lots of "I'll be voting SNP at the general election".

Anyone else noticed this? I wonder what the percentage of active users are English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and others?

@Wantarefund I went last night with a 6 and 8year old. As much as it was pretty rubbish you could go and accept it as that, rather than waste completely.
Ticket times are meaningless, they didnt stop anyone going in and we were not taken at our time - due to queue.

The plus side was the silent disco (well and the subway ride) for the girls. They had a ball at that part which kinda redeemed it

Wantarefund · 07/12/2019 09:14

Aww glad you managed to enjoy it somewhat! I sold my tickets in the end. Lost a bit on them but only what it would have cost us in train fare up to Glasgow anyway.

Dh was having a discussion last night about the signs of true Scots.

His was: You don't cross your hands in "Auld Lang Syne" until "So here's a hand, my trusty friend! and gie's a hand o' thine!" Hmm

And while he was ranting, he also complained that it's "Syne" not "Zyne" Grin

AnniePankettonne · 08/12/2019 11:16

I hate the z .

BluebellsareBlue · 08/12/2019 13:14

Norovirus hit this hoose yesterday! 15 yo DS is still bedded. I've missed it luckily but can't leave DP and DS to fend for themselves so am missing the cup final in Glasgow today- gutted.
I'm up to my elbows in bedding I've washed and am on the hot wash of towels now to try and avoid me getting it!
First tine I'm seen this first hand and wow it's a shitty virus (pardon the pun)

HeyMac · 08/12/2019 22:15

@BluebellsareBlue get your house in order in order now. If it really is Noro you will be struggling. Get hydrated... fast. Have food the kids can eat without you, etc

EustaciaPieface · 08/12/2019 22:50

@AnniePankettonne DRI for me too! Now live in Glasgow but home to Dundee regularly

BluebellsareBlue · 09/12/2019 10:29

@HeyMac I'm still ok, poor DS couldn't even get to the toilet in time during the night. Everything has been bleached within an inch of its life. I'm heading to work but DP appears on the mend but still off work.
Everything has been boil washed I'm exhausted but DS is worse

ssd · 09/12/2019 10:33

Bluebells are blue, I thought you had a spare ticket going there and almost messaged you but clocked your username and realised its for the opposite end 😁

ssd · 09/12/2019 10:34

Hope your family feel better soon, I had that virus 3 years ago and literally couldn't make it to the loo either

IfWishesWereFishes · 09/12/2019 12:23

@BluebellsareBlue that is, literally, a pile of shite Sad

So is everyone, erm, excited about election day?

I'm in a hotly contested SNP/LibDem constituency so voting is easy for me; it's really either a vote for independence or not.

AnniePankettonne · 09/12/2019 13:13

It is a vote to not have BJ .

AnniePankettonne · 09/12/2019 13:14

This is NOT a vote for independence.

It is UK Government.

Quineothebroch · 09/12/2019 13:16

A pound of your best electric currants please.

IfWishesWereFishes · 09/12/2019 15:04

But the party I support can't be the UK government.

AnniePankettonne · 09/12/2019 15:09

If either SNP or Lib Dem are high in your area that is good.

IfWishesWereFishes · 09/12/2019 15:21

Yep. I've voted LD before but they don't support independence so I'm giving them a pass now.

I've a terrible feeling nothings going to change anyway though.

AnniePankettonne · 09/12/2019 15:53

Only for the worse !

ThatsMeInTheSpotlight · 10/12/2019 11:16

I loved Frankie Boyle's article about the election Frankie Boyle The Guardian

AnniePankettonne · 10/12/2019 11:54

Thanks @ThatsMeInTheSpotlight .

emummy · 10/12/2019 13:25

It’s a brilliant article, I loved it too.

IfWishesWereFishes · 10/12/2019 13:36

That Frankie Boyle piece is brilliant. The last paragraph really rips the smile off your face doesn't it?

ThatsMeInTheSpotlight · 10/12/2019 13:51

This election feels so important - not because of Brexit - but because we are at a tipping point with our NHS and our housing. I hope people do vote, as he suggests, to help each other through this 'thing'.

IfWishesWereFishes · 10/12/2019 13:55

This is the first election I've not taken much of an interest in, mainly because I know who I'll vote for, but also because I fully expect BJ to be returned and the whole vile shitshow to continue apace. I'm heartsick.
