Bare bum in dressing room , AIBU.

I take DS to swimming. I got the times wrong turned up for the wrong lesson. I decide to go back to the changing room to wait. I find it hard to breath in the pool area, 30 minutes is ok, an hour and I can feel my asthma begin to act up.

There is a dad there getting his daughters dressed (fine) he was in the pool and he's down to his underwear.

Another dad arrives with his son, him and my DS are in the same lesson.

Anyways dad of daughters decides to get dressed... he drops his pants and is stark naked in front of his daughters. He is also by the door so if another parent was coming in their child would have walked into his penis! And it wasn't less than a minute because he was drying himself as well 🤢...

There are cubicles. He could have used a towel as well.

Why would and adult choose to get naked in a dressing room at a swim lesson for children with strangers around.

AIBU to find it bizarre?

His bum was also hairy and unattractive 🤢.

The poor mans probably went home to his partner and a women watched him get undressed and looked at his hairy bum for 30 minutes

Is this thread a wind up?

Woman in a changing room that she shouldn't be in, is complaining about seeing someone using the room for its actual purpose and getting changed in it?

boomboom1234 · 27/11/2019 07:47

Maybe he thought it was odd that you sat in the changing room where people were getting changed for half an hour?

XXXXXX42 · 27/11/2019 07:48

I just my 8 year old and she knows which changing room you should have used.

I’m pretty sure your 2 year old (or other small kids) won’t be harmed by the sight of a naked body. We all have one! Little boys even have the same parts as a naked man!!! This is the reason no one worries which changing rooms kids under 8 use!

Crackerofdoom · 27/11/2019 07:50

OP can you see it from his point of view?
"I took my daughters to swimming and had to get changed too so I did. There was a woman in the changing who was neither getting changed, nor helping anyone else get changed and just seemed to be watching me get changed."

AIBU to expect that everyone just gets on with their business rather than sitting in the changing room when they are not using it for its purpose and watching me. I felt very objectified.

OR

Or if a man was sitting in the changing room waiting for his daughter watching the women get changed and passing judgement on their bodies because it was unattractive to him?!

I live in a country where changing rooms are communal and nudity is normalised. My kids will grow up having a good idea of what a normal adult body looks like and realise that there is noting shameful or dirty about the human body. He was not touching anyone, not getting gratification from getting changed and was just going about his business.

YABU

I hope this goes in classic threads
It's too funny

JoannaObrien · 27/11/2019 07:57

@MrsFoxPlus4Again

I make my husband shave his hairy arse because it looks horrible.Wink

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 27/11/2019 08:01

@JoannaObrien I just asked my husband if he’d shave his for me and he said only if I shaved my moustache. Won’t be walking into his penis anytime soon Envy

CherryPavlova · 27/11/2019 08:06

It’s very funny. An adult woman is upset that a man changes before swimming with his children.
If you weren’t looking you wouldn’t know his bottom was hairy. It’s a bit worrying and odd that you chose to sit in changing rooms.

Zzzz19 · 27/11/2019 08:06

I think the UK is one of the only countries in Europe where this would be seen a a big issue.

Mammatino · 27/11/2019 08:07

If I were in the ladies and a man was watching me and my son get changed, a man who was just sat there, I would want the police called. Women are fighting like mad to keep our spaces female only and a safe space and then there's you. That man must have been horrified, wondering if you were perving over him or his daughters. If your asthma is so bad then speak to reception so you can sit out there and be called when the lesson's over. Or sit in the cafe with a book, don't sit in the men's changing rooms complaining about men's arses and penises being on display making other people uncomfortable. Bloody odd ball.

Oh my! I was with you OP, at the start. Our local swimming pool changing rooms are unisex. There is a communal bit as well as cubicles - generally used for parents helping young children change for lessons. I’ve NEVER seen an adult changing in the communal area and would have hated it if a man had disrobed while I was with my young children.

But, although it may be more appropriate for an adult man to change in a cubicle where other children are present, the story here is that a woman sat for 30mins in a men’s changing room. Not on. Just totally unacceptable.

NameChangeNugget · 27/11/2019 08:43

Your behaviour is unacceptable.

Elvesdontdomagic · 27/11/2019 08:49

You used a men's changing room with your 2 year old son? Normally women take toddler boys into the female changing rooms! When they're old enough to get changed alone they go into the men's by themselves.

YABVVVVU to complain of a naked male body in the men's changing room.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 27/11/2019 08:49

Meh - just getting changed - perhaps a bit thoughtless but maybe he Scandi / German or just a gym bunny used to getting changed in public places !

ThinkIamflyingundertheradar · 27/11/2019 08:49

I’ve been a member of various local gyms/fitness centres/sports clubs for over 40 years. In that whole time it’s been perfectly normal for me and other women to be completely naked in the women’s changing rooms and showers. This includes the lengthy period that my DC were often with me in said women’s changing rooms as were the male and female DC of friends and teammates. It was never an issue, the naked body is appropriate in that space.

Two provisos - I know a couple of women who were self conscious about nakedness who stripped under a towel facing the wall. That was their choice and they didn’t look to impose their preferences on others. Again, it was never an issue and I only became aware of it because my BFF was one of those women and we had discussed the changing facilities before she joined the gym I went to.

The second proviso is that at some point the boys stopped coming into the women’s changing rooms with their mums. I couldn’t say exactly how old they were (maybe around 7?) but obviously at some point the family decided they were too old to be in the opposite sex changing room just like the OP is

GooseFeather · 27/11/2019 08:53

A bare arse you say? Blimey, I’d have had a stroke.

This quote, right here, is so underrated. Genuinely, tears down cheeks funny.

The thread over all is brilliant. Classic MN stuff. Although I do wonder if the OP is whoever it is that regularly posts deliberate troll threads to get everyone frothing. Can't remember which poster it is that has admitted to being the originator of a number of the funniest threads. The sudden dropping in of the being in the men's changing, and obtuse subsequent posts

JPharm · 27/11/2019 08:55

I see this post ending up on ‘Mumsnet Madness’ on Twitter!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/11/2019 09:01

You should have been kicked out of there tbh,if a man had done the same then complained about seeing a flange they would be uproar!!

IdblowJonSnow · 27/11/2019 09:02

Yuk. I wouldn't like that either. I'm no pearl clutched but just seems unnecessary.
I'm very private about my body unless in my own home.

geordiejock · 27/11/2019 09:03

I don't know what female changing rooms are like but according to my wife most of them have cubicles to get changed in. Most of the male changing rooms I have used there is very little privacy, you are expected to change in a communal area and shower in a communal shower. One of my mates used to shower with his shorts on claiming it was for religious reasons.

IdblowJonSnow · 27/11/2019 09:04

Ahh, hadn't seen it was a blokes changing room! I take it back if that's the case!

Nomorewine77 · 27/11/2019 09:04

Oh this has made my morning! Now all I can think about is hairy bums and naked men.... Grin
I'd like to thank you OP for making me laugh and laugh on this miserable wet Wednesday morning.
