I did a search on this, and it's been asked before, but quite a while ago (unless I've missed something).

Googled ‘nest of vipers’ and there it was Grin

It’s been so long I actually can’t remember!

Googling for advice on how to remove sealant from round a bath and redo it. Found AIBU. Never looked back.

randomchap · 26/11/2019 18:15

My wife found it when looking for advice and told me about it.

I was going through a difficult time with my elderly mother and stepfather (SF now deceased, DM now in a home). I googled for elderly parents and came across a discussion board on MN where a wonderful group of people were comparing notes on their elderly woes. It has been a life-saver, both for the excellent advice and for the realisation that I am not alone in my elderly troubles. I used to lurk, but I recently signed up so that i could join in.

A mummy blogger mentioned the Penis Beaker thread on Facebook, I found it hilarious. Then I read Mexican House Thief (also hilarious) and some others in classics, then I started looking around and never left!

When I was 14 so was at secondary school, and remember googling threads about teenagers and what (or weren't !) they were allowed to do! Stayed ever since , 11 years on I have 2 DC of my own and Mumsnet has been a lifeline for relationship issues, parenting and the life limiting illness of my mum.

innuendobingo · 26/11/2019 20:02

Sorry the life limiting illness board when my mum was dying.

amusedbush · 26/11/2019 20:09

I was linked to a funny thread (the neighbour’s wanking shed, possibly 😂), fell into a Classics wormhole and I’ve just never left. I don’t have kids but I love it here!

Marnie76 · 26/11/2019 20:34

I mistyped netmums after someone told me about it and thank god found here

NaviSprite · 26/11/2019 20:47

I was a sleep deprived parent to newborn twins and it was about 3am - DD was on oxygen then and waking every 40 minutes and then I’d have to keep a bottle to her for another 40 minutes for the sake of 10-15mls (she had a lot of health issues in the early days) I googled something like “help mum of newborn twins and I feel like I’m failing” and came across some older threads - read through some, cried with relief as I’d felt adrift until then with no other Mum friends to turn to, signed up and never looked back! Grin

AIBU is my favourite haunt, I do venture to the FWR boards but feel a bit too intimidated to join in most of the time and since experiencing loss earlier this year it’s the place that kept me sane in the wee hours when the walls closed in on me and I felt alone again.

livingmyslothlife · 26/11/2019 20:48

When I was pregnant way back in 2006. Googled some unusual symptoms and ended up here. Rest is history.

ChickenNugget86 · 26/11/2019 21:46

I googled 'am I pregnant?' and it brought me to AIBU

TheNameGames · 26/11/2019 21:54

DigitalSpy forums (back when they were good) were down for ages and I was missing being involved in an active forum. Googling alternatives always brought this one up first but I’m not a mum so never clicked on it and then one day I did and found myself in AIBU and that was that :) (I don’t even visit DS forums anymore, it’s become really stuck up and humourless now).

Lweji · 26/11/2019 21:57

I had heard it was a vipers nest while on another message board. Naturally, I had to give it a go when the other was made extinct.

blackteasplease · 26/11/2019 21:58

Had an increased risk of downs come back from the 12 week tests/ scan. Was worried while waiting for the harmony test that i decided to have and googled. Found my way here! THis was in 2013. I think of myself as a noob still though.

EmmapausalBitch · 26/11/2019 21:59

A penis beaker article linked to Mumsnet, then I found AIBU...
