I did a search on this, and it's been asked before, but quite a while ago (unless I've missed something).

OP posts:

GiveHerHellFromUs · 26/11/2019 14:58

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/11/2019 15:00

I came over when BMC started charging subscriptions and then closed down.

safariboot · 26/11/2019 15:00

Google. Which specifically led me to SpanGran and the Patio Doors of CFery.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 26/11/2019 15:00

Daily Mail blush

That's disgusting, Turt - you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

Same here.... Grin

FoxOnABox · 26/11/2019 15:03

An AIBU thread about horse riders not picking up their muck after it was posted on one of my horsey forums.

I had a bit of a wander through some other MN boards and have never left because there is so much information, compassion, hilarity, WTF moments that who needs to go anywhere else for entertainment Grin

theemmadilemma · 26/11/2019 15:16

Handbag led me to another forum when it went shite, which also led me here.

SapphosRock · 26/11/2019 15:18

Penis Beaker. Someone shared the thread on Facebook and that was it.

Stickybeaksid · 26/11/2019 15:21

I was on an Irish parenting forum and it was like net mums on glue. All blue lines, ivf trains, baby sprinkles and communion dresses. Someone mentioned how awful this site was and I signed up immediately.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 26/11/2019 15:22

FlashesOfRage

That's how you found Mumsnet? 😂😂

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 26/11/2019 15:23

Saw a poster for netmums when I was at health visitor and remembers it wrong when I typed it in later (mumnet) which brought me here.

TheQueef · 26/11/2019 15:28

I was waking up in a bad relationship and googled some terms and got Relationships.
Made a thread about mine, received eye opening replies and kept rereading it for validation.
Then started an AIBU and got my arse completely handed to me.

After seeing the best and worst I was hooked Grin
And yes, I did LTB.

FlashesOfRage · 26/11/2019 15:28

@DontMakeMeShushYou 🤣

I was actually really into bodybuilding at the time and I was a lurker on a male dominated forum. Someone posted a link to the penis beaker thread and that was that, I never went back 👍

Contraceptionismyfriend · 26/11/2019 15:30

It was being slagged off on baby centre. I shopped and haven't been on baby centre since 2016 😂

BillywigSting · 26/11/2019 15:34

From many frantic Google searches when ds was a newborn, it popped up that often with that much good advice that I stuck around

cantmovewont · 26/11/2019 15:35

My sister told me about Lou's thread where she had come home from work to find her husband had cleared off - taking everything including the chutney from the fridge. She found out there was an OW - who I think was pregnant and THEN she found out that she had successfully conceived from the IVF treatment they'd been having.

It was AWFUL. I felt so badly for her. I followed Lou for years and recently the chat moved to a new board so haven't caught up in a long time. I remember when she had the baby and I was refreshing all the time from a holiday in India.

Have been on MN ever since.

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 26/11/2019 15:39

I was googling something to do with bullying (I was being bullied in my workplace at the time, about 10 years ago) and something came up about bullying on mn. I think it was a Daily Fail "article". Out of curiosity I came on here to have a look and never left. I didn't start posting until several years later though.

MangoSpice · 26/11/2019 15:45

A friend literally 'brought' me here. It was back when it was all fields round here and she actually started a thread to introduce me Blush. Everyone was very kind and welcoming and as it was around the time of the Penguin Sanctuary thread I was soon hooked.

FallingApartNC · 26/11/2019 16:06

I was googling something about facial hair removal and found threads about the Philips Lumea.
I'm now three hundred quid poorer, much less hairy, and find myself saying "you are being very unreasonable" and "no is a full sentence" far too often in the real world Grin
I still don't know what a penis beaker tho Confused

NameChangeNugget · 26/11/2019 16:07

Mumsnet Madness on Twitter

Areyoufree · 26/11/2019 16:09

I used to post on “Hot topics” on the What to expect site. But then, I followed the light of the penis beaker over here.

MsPepperPotts · 26/11/2019 16:13

A few years ago I googled something related to domestic abuse(can't remember exact words) and it showed a link to a thread on MN and then I signed in and have stayed.
It's the best thing I have done because I am pretty much housebound and don't see a lot of people apart from my PCA so I come on here and it's my way of still feeling a part of the rest of the world. IYSWIM Halloween Grin

EnglishRose13 · 26/11/2019 16:26

From the DM, after reading a story stolen from here about a woman who didn't want to pay to privately educate her step children, or something.

QueenOfToast · 26/11/2019 16:29

I started off on a wedding forum site back in 2000. Then a load of people from there migrated onto Baby Greenhouse. I've never been a prolific poster, but I LOVED that site - it kept me sane when my babies were little. Anyone else on here remember that site?

Then something happened with Baby Greenhouse - I can't remember what and it all started to fall apart. At about that time, someone on Baby Greenhouse posted links to a Mumsnet thread. Does anyone else remember something about a DH in the shed on the hedgehog cam while the mum was making kids' tea in the kitchen?

Sorry for the long walk down memory lane, but thanks to the amazing (and occasionally batshit crazy) Mumsnet community for keeping me entertained for about 15 years!
