I did a search on this, and it's been asked before, but quite a while ago (unless I've missed something).

OP posts:
sockittome123 · 26/11/2019 16:34

Typed something in google and mumsnet came top of the search results.

Same here - never came away!

DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2019 16:35

Googling for a discount code for something.

MontanaSky · 26/11/2019 16:40

It was when I was on maternity leave in 2012 and googling SPD and found something about Mumsnet.
Ended up reading a thread about all the items a DH had bought for Xmas (four jars of various olives) and never looked back

CatToddlerUprising · 26/11/2019 16:41

A student was trolling the site and offering advice about pregnancy on threads (despite being 15 and Male...) during an independent catch up session in an IT room. Was curious about the site after this and signed up.

FrowningFlamingo · 26/11/2019 16:42

Penis beaker

HemlockStarglimmer · 26/11/2019 16:43

Watching a TV show with Carrie and Justine in it when my daughter was a baby. They gave good advice. The website was mentioned a few times by the voice over so I thought I'd have a look.
Rarely a day goes by without me wasting filling in time on Mumsnet.

JumpingOnTheBed · 26/11/2019 16:48

Went through an awful 12 week scan and came across the antenatal tests section after googling our test results, I didn't post back then but they were my sanctuary in one of the hardest periods of my life. Thankfully all was fine and I felt extremely lucky, I usually have a cheeky read of mumsnet posts while the toddler is having fun watching Frozen! Currently doing so at work now as it's quiet for me at the moment!

KittenLedWeaning · 26/11/2019 16:48

A thread came up when I was Googling for advice on my forthcoming hysterectomy. I read the thread and then my attention was caught by some AIBUs, and I soon got quite hooked and after lurking for a few weeks, joined.

Ironic that the thing that made it cast iron certain I'd never have children led to me joining a parenting forum. Grin

MushroomTree · 26/11/2019 16:51

@FoxOnABox I think I'm here for the same reason Grin I've since had DD so I feel like I'm here legitimately now!

nibdedibble · 26/11/2019 16:54

Dismal breastfeeding experience, a friend suggested I post on here.
I was so off my face with tiredness and stress that I couldn't see how to make it work Grin

Came back about a year later, read around a bit, thought it was funny, stayed for a number of years, met loads of MNers, some are still friends, but now I rarely post. (Except lately and I'm not sure why.)

VanyaHargreeves · 26/11/2019 16:57

A friend of mine became a parent and wouldnt shut up about it Grin

managedmis · 26/11/2019 17:03

I googled some pregnancy symptoms, ended up on some random thread that was HILARIOUS about a woman who was also preggo who was stuck on an island with horrendous in-laws? Anyway, it was gold so I stuck around

shinynewapple · 26/11/2019 17:06

I think I had heard if MN as parenting forum in the media, came for advice for DS bed wetting age about 6 -7. He's 18 now (and no longer wets the bed Grin)

TheDogsMother · 26/11/2019 17:12

Googling to look for advice when we were doing up the house. There was so much helpful opinion on appliances, flooring, bathroom fittings etc. Including one really helpful thread about what people would do differently if they were to fit their bathrooms out again. I made a note of all the tips and ended up with lovely bathrooms. Since then I regularly lurk, sometimes reply and occasionally post. I love joining in on the Masterchef Telly Addicts thread. I came and never left basically.

Not even a Mum Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 26/11/2019 17:17

I was a new mum and my own mum had died so I had noone to ask date questions. I had a bright idea of setting up a website where you could get advice and chat. I even had a name for it.

I went to have a look around the internet to register the name and here I am 13 years later...

Toddlerteaplease · 26/11/2019 17:19

My dad introduced me to AIBU. We have loads of mumsnet in jokes between the two of us. I love it.

isseywith4vampirecats · 26/11/2019 17:20

i was on a forum of ebay people called vipers (gone now) and as you can guess from their name they liked to take the mickey out of things, and one day they were taking the mick out of mumsnet, came on here loved it and still here

GrapefruitGin · 26/11/2019 17:20

Found myself pregnant, continuous googling of different questions and concerns led me here.. been hooked ever since.

MerryDeath · 26/11/2019 17:36

i was pregnant with #1 and constantly googling things. you end up on one thread then get sucked in to another and another..

RedRec · 26/11/2019 17:43

Came on here around A level results day this year and have not been able to leave. I love it. And have learned a lot in three months, especially about trans issues.
Turns out I was always a terf without realising it had a name.

Brimful · 26/11/2019 17:45

I joined for the fertility boards, sadly never fell pregnant but I stayed for AIBU!

WorraLiberty · 26/11/2019 17:45

I was on a different forum and some people starting linking to some of the more batshit crazy threads on MN.

I couldn't quite believe what I was reading, so thought I'd check it out for myself Grin

stripeypillowcase · 26/11/2019 17:51

midwife recommended netmums and under contractions I got it the other way round.
much better here anyway you vipers

stopwindingeachotherup · 26/11/2019 17:53

My health visitor told me about it when my first son was born in January 2000 so as it started really. No idea how she knew about it!

stopwindingeachotherup · 26/11/2019 17:57

Never post though!
