Because if I read another 'doing his hobby' I will scream.

IT'S NOT OUTING. THE VAST MAJORITY OF MALE PARTNERS ON HERE CYCLE, GOLF OR PLAY RUGBY/FOOTBALL.

I'll start. I don't have a hobby as I'm a lone parent with a FT job but I spend any leisure time reading. BF plays golf and take part in several orchestras.

So Invictus Games wheelchair athletes don't actually need to use wheelchairs? Isn't that well cheating?

DH was a very active sports person, brush with his mortality and life changing surgery he's now an armchair expert.

I like genealogy.

Grobagsforever · 24/11/2019 18:24

But how will it be outing @spacepyramid ? Does no one else in the country do it? Do you believe your friends are cyber stalking you?

OP posts:
Grobagsforever · 24/11/2019 18:25

@DefConOne there's probably plenty. Choir and history aren't that uncommon

00100001 · 24/11/2019 18:26

Why is the wheelchair thing cheating?
It enables all people to play at the same level?

Grobagsforever · 24/11/2019 18:27

@SimonJT oh I know. But I hate crafts or house projects. And I won't use precious babysitting for the gym or similar, I use it to go to restaurants, gigs or pub with friends. But that's socialising not a hobby.

He does a very specific form of dancing which is unusual in this country, the people he does it with are a small, select group who travel some distance to do it.

Etihad · 24/11/2019 18:37

@SamBeckett neither do I! DD goes to Rainbows and they have them in the church orchard, I just made a nuisance of myself at the right time in the right place. I love it, it’s very relaxing

7Worfs · 24/11/2019 18:41

DH - scuba diving, rock climbing
Me - rock climbing, house renovations, gardening

Babynut1 · 24/11/2019 18:47

I sing in a choir ☺️

Harveypuss · 24/11/2019 19:05

Waves at Cheesecakesunflowers We have just returned home from ringing a quarter peal of Plain Bob Major at our local church prior to the service. My favourite method is Stedman - much more musical!

Spacepyramid - do give bell ringing a try. There is a shortage of bellringers nationally. It's not really considered a "cool" hobby so we don't get many people signing up to learn. That's a shame 'cos it's really sociable - where there's a church, there's a pub! Grin

Windygate · 24/11/2019 19:11

@00100001 I'm really not sure 'why' it just feels 'wrong'.

Gallivespian · 24/11/2019 19:13

I always imagine Morris dancing and macramé.

@sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea, I adore poking around old churches, and have a particular thing for medieval wall paintings.

Winterdaysarehere · 24/11/2019 19:18

Dh - car rallying.
Me - collect ddogs and dc...
In my next life it will be avid book reader though...

dippydeedoo · 24/11/2019 19:19

He is an unsuccessful bee keeper.

I do crafty stuff and read.

00100001 · 24/11/2019 19:20

@spacepyramid are you aware this dramatic and mysterious??? You could have just name change temporarily and told us the hobby... :/

Clarinet1 · 24/11/2019 19:23

Would you believe (from my user name) that I play the clarinet? - some solo, in an orchestra and a couple of bands. I also play the saxophone and sing when I get the chance in choirs etc. Also a guide leader and involved with local politics.
Previous DPs were also into music (obviously, it's a great way to meet people) and one was a keen comedy writer.

StreetwiseHercules · 24/11/2019 19:27

I hate the words “hobby” and “hobbies”. Just awful.

People must actually type it out on mumsnet even though they would never utter these words in real life.

MrsDragonLady · 24/11/2019 19:30

Me: Crochet and ghost hunting
DH: Rugby and strongman

Gallivespian · 24/11/2019 19:32

Yy @StreetwiseHercules. ‘Doing my hobby’ is particularly terrible. It sounds like some kind of euphemism for going to the toilet. ‘Oh, I’ve been doing my hobby/powdering my nose/nipping to the smallest room/doing a number two/freshening up!’

bridgetreilly · 24/11/2019 19:33

I assumed that @spacepyramid was joking, in the spirit of the thread.
