AIBU about Angel Delight?

I think layering different flavours of Angel Delight would be nice. DH thinks the flavours should be kept separated, to maintain their integrity.

I'm referring to banana, chocolate and butterscotch. Not strawberry. Even I wouldn't go that far.

Don't @ me if you don't like Angel Delight. We couldn't be friends.

Wait, what? Banana? Vanilla? Where do you people live to buy such specialties? I've only ever seen choc, strawberry and butterscotch! Butterscotch is the best obvs Grin

DinkyDaisy · 23/11/2019 21:21

Replace half the milk with cream when making as well...
Yummy!

user1468348545 · 23/11/2019 21:22

We used to have this layered with crushed digestives inbetweeners each flavour. Do it for my kiddies now and they love it!!

Serenschintte · 23/11/2019 21:25

Asked DH- it can be layered but only in a trifle setting.
A difficult situation, but one that needs to be sold.

BrettAndersonscheekbones · 23/11/2019 21:27

I've actually done this, choc/butterscotch in layers in glasses so you can see them.

LetsBeSensible · 23/11/2019 21:27

At 18, my first proper boyfriend...came to my halls for “a meal” no idea what I cooked, but dessert was chocolate and butterscotch layers of angel delight with broken Daimler bar on top, in my special occasion cocktail glasses!
The meal may have been shepherds pie made of bean feast and smash to be fair; I may have grown up in the 70s/80s!!!!

LonginesPrime · 23/11/2019 21:30

Wow, LetsBeSensible, I'd completely forgotten about Beanfeast!

imcold · 23/11/2019 21:34

I put malteasers through mine!

All 3 of my kids hate it (weirdos).

When I was a student me and my friends used to make the banana one with Dooleys (like Baileys but toffee flavour). So it was a banoffee alcoholic delight!

Actually might make that next time we have people over! Not sure if Dooleys still exists though.

Interestedwoman · 23/11/2019 21:39

YANBU, you're making me hungry with just the idea of Angel Delight :)

How about strawberry and chocolate layered, with some real strawberries and chocolate?

Or- like a trifle- strawberry or raspberry with a few sponge fingers, vanilla, squirty cream and sprinkles :)

JuniperSling · 23/11/2019 21:39

I see they don't make my old favourite flavours any more (lime and peach). I think they'd be a nice combination.

StCharlotte · 23/11/2019 21:46

DH has agreed to try @StCharlotte's idea of Neopolitan Angel Delight. I'm not entirely convinced about the strawberry but it's a compromise.

Proud Smile

AngelicInnocent · 23/11/2019 21:48

Banana and chocolate or strawberry and chocolate but never butterscotch

StCharlotte · 23/11/2019 21:49

imcold Only this morning I was mourning the lack of Dooleys these days. It was gert lush!

policeandthieves · 23/11/2019 21:50

Layer of sliced banana then butterscotch Angel delight with a chopped mars bar through it then a layer of sliced banana and repeat
That's the best ( extra flake crumbled on top could be an addition)
What was the name of that dessert that came in a can of sort of syrupy stuff with bits of fruit and when you mixed it with milk it thickened up - whatever it was I loved that as well (in strawberry)

Stupiddriver1 · 23/11/2019 21:50

You can still get Dooleys online. Or at least you could a few months ago.

imcold · 23/11/2019 21:55

Ooh @Stupiddriver1 away to look!

Stupiddriver1 · 23/11/2019 21:57

I’ve checked, plenty of stockists. Dooleys is far superior to Baileys, no idea why it never really took off.

Majorcollywobble · 23/11/2019 22:02

I’m fancying blancmange now . Made into a rabbit shape . Or a jelly whipped into evaporated milk with mandarin oranges.
Angel Delight wasn’t invented when I was a kid mores the pity . No instant gratification in those days ........

ironickname · 23/11/2019 22:02

No, they are not compatible. Pick one flavour.

parkrunhun · 23/11/2019 22:06

Butterscotch AD crushed meringue nests bananas sliced and toffee sauce - banoffee Eton mess !

ShinyGiratina · 23/11/2019 22:09

Angel Delight...
Dooleys...
Oh my lost student days GrinGrinGrin

Wednesday afternoons and my housemate and I would go down the Union shop, buy a packet of butterscotch Angel Delight each, mix it up then count down until it was set, and then feast. Happy days!

Alas when I tried it with oat milk a few years ago to see if I could get away with eating it, it just curdled and went lumpy. Oh I miss you Angel Delight!

Josephinebettany · 23/11/2019 22:09

I really excitedly made it for me and my children once about a year ago but they hated it Sad how is it possible?

Stupiddriver1 · 23/11/2019 22:10

Does angel, delight work with almond milk I wonder?

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 23/11/2019 22:13

Is Angel delight still nice?

Last time I had it was the eighties Grin

Krouse64 · 23/11/2019 22:17

I love angel delight but hate the butterscotch flavour (hides behind the sofa)
