AIBU about Angel Delight?

I think layering different flavours of Angel Delight would be nice. DH thinks the flavours should be kept separated, to maintain their integrity.

I'm referring to banana, chocolate and butterscotch. Not strawberry. Even I wouldn't go that far.

Don't @ me if you don't like Angel Delight. We couldn't be friends.

My gran used to layer it for us in a glass bowl, first layer would be propped up slightly at one side to set and then the other opposite so it looked quite fancy. Then a face on top made with proper smarties (before they took away the blue ones) and laces for hair Grin

@Mishfit0819

Your gran was an amazing lad

I love this thread. I will be getting some more flavours to try now. I only have strawberry. I didn't know about butterscotch, which I will now have to find and try. It's making me hungry!

crispysausagerolls · 23/11/2019 20:45

*lady!

Wearenotyourkind · 23/11/2019 20:46

Mmmm what about the limited edition white chocolate one that's available at the moment...so good

Pinkarsedfly · 23/11/2019 20:48

Chocolate Angel Delight with tinned pears.

Ideally, on a Sunday evening, after cold beef sandwiches in front of Bullseye/Heartbeat/Antiques Roadshow.

Louise91417 · 23/11/2019 20:50

O i so want angel delight right nowHmm

KittenLedWeaning · 23/11/2019 20:51

No. Butterscotch on its own. Nothing more, nothing less.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 23/11/2019 20:51

Mmm I want butterscotch angel delight. Can you still buy it?

KittenLedWeaning · 23/11/2019 20:52

Yup, Gretchen Smile.

Thatnovembernight · 23/11/2019 20:53

I’d say YANBU if you’d separated fruity and puddingy flavours

TooManyPaws · 23/11/2019 20:53

I read somewhere that butterscotch Angel Delight was Gordon Ramsey's guilty food pleasure! 😁

TheMostHappy · 23/11/2019 20:53

Chocolate on the bottom, banana in the middle and butterscotch on the top, and then a little bit of squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles Wink

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 23/11/2019 20:54

I have a stray packet of banana angel delight in the cupboard but if I make it now DS will want some - does it make me a bad mother to wait until he goes to his dads tomorrow & buy myself a chocolate one to layer with the banana butterscotch is bogging

Pinkarsedfly · 23/11/2019 20:55

Butterscotch Angel Delight, layer of sliced banana, layer of squirty cream, grated chocolate.

Pinkflipflop85 · 23/11/2019 20:55

The best topping for angel delight is crushed up digestive biscuits.

CathyorClaire · 23/11/2019 20:56

Your dh is right.

Butterscotch Angel Delight shouldn't be adulterated with anything let alone anything as base as banana.

MotherHeggy · 23/11/2019 20:57

Butterscotch with crushed ginger biscuits is gorgeous. My ex mother in law introduced me to that one.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/11/2019 20:58

@TooManyPaws OMG really? I always knew we were the perfect couple.

Strangelyscenic · 23/11/2019 20:58

Butterscotch made with Baileys instead of milk Smile

LoseLooseLucy · 23/11/2019 20:59

Chocolate on the bottom, banana in the middle and butterscotch on the top, and then a little bit of squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles

10/10, would definitely eat 👍

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 23/11/2019 21:04

At Christmas we have have a ‘trifle’ which is just the business!

1st Layer
Strawberry Jelly with tinned fruit set into it

2nd Layer
Custard

3rd Layer
Strawberry angel delight

4th Layer
Whipped cream

It may sound a bit grim but it’s just the best thing to have at 8pm on Christmas Day when you want to eat something that will just slide down and requires no chewing 😬

PetitsGateaux · 23/11/2019 21:06

My favourite childhood dessert was mint chocolate Angel Delight - even better on a pie base of crushed digestives 😋

81Byerley · 23/11/2019 21:12

When you pour the first layer in the glass dish, prop it at an angle, then when it's set, change the angle for the second layer, and again for the third. This makes it not only delicious, but posh.

AngeloMysterioso · 23/11/2019 21:14

Chocolate and butterscotch maybe, but I wouldn’t befoul either with that disgusting banana stuff.
