AIBU about Angel Delight?

I think layering different flavours of Angel Delight would be nice. DH thinks the flavours should be kept separated, to maintain their integrity.

I'm referring to banana, chocolate and butterscotch. Not strawberry. Even I wouldn't go that far.

Don't @ me if you don't like Angel Delight. We couldn't be friends.

It’s not instant though, is it?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 23/11/2019 20:23

Mum did this when we were kids and you are wrong about strawberry and chocolate it's amazing, do one layer, let it set then the other layer. When that's set, just before serving you use the canned whipped cream and sprinkles.
You can also layer jelly and angel delight.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/11/2019 20:23

Oh my god I really want Angel Delight now

Deliveroo needs to get on it

Passthecherrycoke · 23/11/2019 20:23

I think they’ll leak into each other Sad

crispysausagerolls · 23/11/2019 20:25

Thank you for this thread - it has been revealed to me after reading it out that DH has never experienced angel delight.

Not sure how to feel about that.

Butterscotch shouldn’t really be mixed with inferior flavours.

Bluetrews25 · 23/11/2019 20:25

Try chocolate trifle - choc swiss roll, choc custard, choc angel delight, squirty cream, buttons.
Not had this for too long.

StCharlotte · 23/11/2019 20:25

Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate layered would be Neopolitan Angel Delight and perfectly acceptable in my opinion.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/11/2019 20:25

I lurve Angel Delight!
I'm with your DH on this one though. What's with the mixing of the flavours?!
Just no.
Butterscotch and banana are my fave ones, but together you're taking away the "specialness!" (It's a word, I say so Grin )

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/11/2019 20:25

Oh I did love Dream Topping too... sachet made a surprisingly tiny amount though?! Shock

MillieMoodle · 23/11/2019 20:26

Don't ruin the butterscotch with any of those inferior flavours.

This! Butterscotch is the ONLY one!

crispysausagerolls · 23/11/2019 20:27

Do places still sell angel delight, or is it an Internet order?

MustDust · 23/11/2019 20:28

The only downside is you have to wait 3 times as long for it to set and eat it. Now I need Angel Delight.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/11/2019 20:29

@crispysausagerolls Yes, Angel Delight is definitely still about in RL shops!
Is in the UK anyway.

BeeFarseer · 23/11/2019 20:29

I am a butterscotch purist but I'm intrigued by your layering idea. I would try it.

SouthernComforts · 23/11/2019 20:30

I've never seen banana flavour, and I'm glad. What an atrocity. Butterscotch is the best obviously.

redastherose · 23/11/2019 20:31

I've had this and it's lovely, definitely try it. I made it with banana on the bottom, chocolate next and butterscotch on the top.

AdaColeman · 23/11/2019 20:33

I've never tried Angel Delight, is it good?
I'm liking all the enthusiasm on this thread!

I think Instant Whip was a sort of mock cream, it went on trifles or tinned peaches etc, my Aunt was a fan.

Zampa · 23/11/2019 20:37

DH has agreed to try @StCharlotte's idea of Neopolitan Angel Delight. I'm not entirely convinced about the strawberry but it's a compromise.

It also allows us to leave the butterscotch in splendid isolation for all you purists out there.

Thank you all.

I freeze mine into mini ice creams! Hate all the flavours bar strawberry though! All 3 kids love it

KateFoster · 23/11/2019 20:38

I think it's a genius idea LTB

trickofthetail1 · 23/11/2019 20:38

Instant Whip was a fruit flavoured dessert made with 1 pint of milk, not a mock cream.

RaymondStopThat · 23/11/2019 20:41

Instant Whip was another brand of similar stuff. You were either Instant Whip or Angel Delight, a bit like either Blue Peter or Magpie. But never both.

Walnuts or pecans in butterscotch Angel Delight.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/11/2019 20:43

Def a come dine with me dessert winner get your entry into the show done right now

ChessieFL · 23/11/2019 20:43

Why has it never occurred to me to do this?!

Crazyhouse123 · 23/11/2019 20:44

Butterscotch, chopped banana mixed in, and crushed flake on top.

Oh now I am going to have to go out and get some!!

Might try chocolate and banana though that does sound good!
