What IS your treat meal?

Mine is mashed potato (ready made from Tesco fridge), with loads of butter and cheese mashed into it.

Then you take a corned beef pasty, heat up in the microwave. Shred into chunks.

Stir this through the mash.

Top with ketchup? Which required marbling into the dish.

😋😋😋😋

Your turn...

Homemade miso soup with lots of vegetables & black bean noodles. And a boiled egg chopped up in it. Probably not very authentic, but delicious.

JustDanceAddict · 23/11/2019 08:42

Potato waffles with fried egg. Dip the waffles in the yolk.

starfishcoffee · 23/11/2019 08:47

An Indian takeaway. Failing that, if I'm feeling extremely lazy, pizza or a kebab is good too. Blush

TheSquitz · 23/11/2019 08:56

StarlingsinSumner I love tinned salmon sandwiches and didn't realise they could be even better until my MIL asked me if I wanted vinegar on the salmon. Always reminds me of special family occasions when growing up.

showmewhatyougot · 23/11/2019 10:07

Super noodles in white bread & butter is the best.

I also like chinese style chicken egg foo young with lots of soy, beansprouts and chinese 5 spice.

that sounds more like a real meal than a "treat!"

TheLittleBrownFox · 23/11/2019 19:18

@SuperMeerkat yessss Rio with a choppy tea is a must!

TheLittleBrownFox · 23/11/2019 19:18

Chippy*

Lex234 · 23/11/2019 19:22

Dippy eggs and soldiers.

Not even sorry 😂

HoneyandSpice · 23/11/2019 19:51

@Footiefan2019 Yes! Chuckie egg with butter and salt and pepper (or egg in a cup)
Are you from the North East? I don't know many who know of this. Intrigued to know how you do it in the microwave though. My mum always cooked the boiled egg then peeled it while hot and mashed it up in a cup with loads of butter and S&P.
Oh. I'm craving that now!

Also with you on shop bought chilled Macaroni cheese with extra cheese. No such thing as too much cheese!

Getitwright · 23/11/2019 19:56

Homemade Macaroni Bolognese! Veggie Bolognese, topped with Macaroni Cheese made with vintage cheddar and Parmesan. Topped with a sprinkle of porridge oats and more cheese to get a crusty top!

We only have it on special occasions as it oozes calories, but it’s food of the gods......Smile

Footiefan2019 · 25/11/2019 22:57

@HoneyandSpice it is my dad who introduced it to our lives as babies as it’s what he was brought up on and he’s East Coast of Scotland so maybe that’s a thing?! It’s amazing.

NachoFries · 26/11/2019 03:23

I rarely have these as my hips won’t thank me:

Nacho fries
Fish & Chips with either vinegar or lemon
Cheesy fries
Buttery mashed potato with copious amounts of gravy
Baskin Robbins - love everything especially the brownies and ice cream combo.
Baked potato with loads of different toppings.

MashedSpud · 26/11/2019 03:44

Chip butty with proper chips with a little more butter on the bread than usual.

Gingerkittykat · 26/11/2019 03:57

Ten points to anyone who can relate to what a chuckie egg / egginacup is

I know what a chuckie egg is, but not had it since I was a kid and the thought of it makes me ill now.

Are you Scottish? I thought it was a universal thing but got told it wasn't.

My dirty food secrets.

Morning roll, slice of cold butter, packet of pickled onion walkers crisps.

Macaroni cheese, roux made with real butter and so much cheese it goes stringy. I stir tomatoes through mine but my sister takes it to the next level by adding bacon and cheese to the top and grilling till crispy.

Mincingfuckdragon · 26/11/2019 04:22

Soft really fresh white bread, thick slices of proper ham, butter (lots), salt and pepper.

Avocado on toast w lemon and pepper.

Spaghetti with hot olive oil, parsley, salt, pepper, garlic and chilli.

Pesto spaghetti with a handful of prosciutto and cherry tomatoes crisped under the grill, with a cube of goats cheese on to

Am trying not to eat bread or pasta (tho I love them), so these are all treats.

Amazing! My mum made thisChuckie for us when we were tiny, mashed into a cup, and she even called it chuckie egg! She was Irish. I thought it was her idea. Bliss :)

Also, now...

Huge bowl of mashed potatoes with a packet of instant lamb gravy mixed with loads of mint sauce stirred in, and completed with a tin of processed peas including the pea juice. Eat with fork in front of television.

Big pan of boiled potatoes with butter and olive oil, doused in loads of freshly squeezed lemon with pepper and far too much salt.

Cold plastic white bread toast with tons of butter, sprinkled with salt and pepper, or spread with that brown French mustard, or lime pickle, or a really good mustardy non-sweet piccalilli.

Two packets of sesame or garlic-flavoured ramen noodles in that same big green bowl, with some scrummy veggies stirred in at last moment (not really cooked - just warmed), e.g. broccoli chunks, sugar snap peas or mangetout. Eat in front of Masterchef [Big grin]

SteelRiver · 26/11/2019 08:02

I'm in Scotland and chippie chips here aren't good (no idea why) and they dont serve scraps so, whenever I'm home in England I'll treat my self to a bag of chips, smothered in scraps and draining in vinegar!

WeePinklet · 26/11/2019 08:02

How could I have forgotten my all-time favourite, egg and chips! Has to be big pile of real home-made chips (not oven) topped with two soft fried eggs, pricked so that the yolk runs down and coats and chips and forms pools on the plate. My mum used to cook the eggs in the chip pan, btw - fantastic, as they turn into crispy little soft-centred balls Grin

HoneyandSpice · 26/11/2019 11:30

@WeePinklet and @Footiefan2019 its prompted me to do some research! Seems to be mostly Northern or Scottish. I also assumed it was something my Mum 'invented' for me

WeePinklet · 26/11/2019 20:13

Yum, @HoneyandSpice, that’s really interesting! Though my mum was Irish my dad was from the North of England, so perhaps that’s where my mum learned to call this Chuckie Egg :-)

Jodie77 · 26/11/2019 20:38

Potato waffles, tinned beans and sausages, with grated cheese

Fishfinger sandwich

Bacon sandwich

Brownie mix from a box baked in the oven but a bit under cooked.

WeePinklet · 27/11/2019 07:37

Seems to me on informal poll basis that fish finger sandwich is currently a clear leader Grin

livingmyslothlife · 27/11/2019 08:00

@Footiefan2019 we call it eggy cup in my house its bloody amazing. No one makes it quite like my wee daddy did. Im in Northern Ireland but dad's nan was from Scotland and she introduced him to it.

Suomynona · 27/11/2019 19:30

Piles and piles of grated cheese on just about anything. Current favourite is roast brocolli smothered in strong cheddar.
