What IS your treat meal?

Mine is mashed potato (ready made from Tesco fridge), with loads of butter and cheese mashed into it.

Then you take a corned beef pasty, heat up in the microwave. Shred into chunks.

Stir this through the mash.

Top with ketchup? Which required marbling into the dish.

😋😋😋😋

Your turn...

Starlingsinsummer - I used to have that as a child. Not on Boxing Day but it was definitely seen as a treat due to the cost of tinned salmon. I really fancy that right now, it's lovely.

Curious2468 · 22/11/2019 19:48

Nachos with home made salsa, refried beans and cheese

Curious2468 · 22/11/2019 19:52

The poster who said chicken flavoured instant noodles and bread with butter! I had forgotten I used to eat that as a student! May have to treat myself some time though I’m trying to reduce bread

Eckhart · 22/11/2019 19:59

@catinb0oots

Eat with a serving spoon and a pint of Pepsi max.

Amazing Grin

Spaghetti puttanesca
Or pasta pesto with loads of pesto and grated cheese on top.
My kids hate both and OH also not keen so I almost never eat them now.

Oh, and cauliflower cheese with a side of thick cut smoked bacon. Mmmmmm.

f00k · 22/11/2019 20:01

Ready meal Chinese chicken curry and McCain's Microchips (2 boxes) or a Sainsbury's Basics cheese & tomato pizza. One of the massive ones. All to myself.

Fray bentos pie. There’s just something so delicious about that tinned pastry.

transformandriseup · 22/11/2019 20:23

Camembert with fresh bread

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 22/11/2019 20:31

Toast with a slice of smoked ham, cheese on top of it and a splash of Lea and Perrins, coleslaw on the side.

Wonkybanana · 22/11/2019 20:41

Tinned salmon sandwiches with vinegar and salt and pepper.... always our Boxing Day evening meal when I was little. Everyone outside my family goes green when I mention it! I suspect it’s very working class northern (which is what we were!).

Our Sunday tea when I was little (with salad cream mixed in as well)**. Yorkshire mining stock! I still make them sometimes.
** Followed by tinned fruit and evap.

Favourites - crunchy peanut butter and sandwich spread sandwich on plastic white bread.

Fish finger sandwiches with mayo (none of this ketchup malarkey)
Sausage sandwich with well fried onions
Bacon and egg sandwich.

Corned beef hash - our northern family recipe looks like dog food on the plate, tastes scrummy.

Butteredtoast55 · 22/11/2019 20:44

Another Northerner who remembers tinned salmon sandwiches - my Mum’s favourite! They were always part of a ‘spread’ at family get togethers.
My absolute treat is ciabatta bread, warmed, then filled with pesto, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella and mayonnaise. Sublime!
And buttered toast, obviously!

onemorecakeplease · 22/11/2019 21:15

Sourdough toast with honey and mashed banana

Sourdough toast with corned beef mashed on top

Chicken super noodles with roast chicken bits in

Toast and dippy egg

Pickled onion sandwich on white bread

SapphosRock · 22/11/2019 21:39

Frey bentos pie! That soggy pastry is the best.

Stone baked baguette with thick cut ham, mature cheddar and coleslaw.

Tolleshunt · 22/11/2019 21:47

Tinned salmon sandwiches with cucumber and loads of vinegar and white pepper were sometimes our Sunday tea when I was little. We were in London. I still really like tinned salmon!

Peasplease21 · 22/11/2019 21:53

Mashed potato, with a tin of tuna and loads of mature cheddar mixed in. YUM.

Honeysucklerose1 · 22/11/2019 21:59

Toast, butter and marmite. Dreamy!

BenevolentEzza · 22/11/2019 22:00

Leftover sausages dipped in horseradish.

Leftover mash (cold!) with either mayo or pickle.

Cheese and peanut butter sandwich. Add a thin scraping of Marmite for pure bliss.

justasking111 · 22/11/2019 22:03

Tin of baked beans fried with a little curry powder and oil.

Steak and kidney pudding

Stew and dumplings.

RingPiece · 22/11/2019 22:06

Cheese Hamwich, smash and baked beans with the sausages. Lovely treat.

OverByYer · 22/11/2019 22:10

Chicken super noodles stirred through with chopped up chicken nuggets and mayonnaise.
Or a good old chip butty made with white buttered bread

Tolleshunt · 22/11/2019 22:14

I’m craving chicken super noodles now.

NationMcKinley · 22/11/2019 22:15

Jacket potato done properly in the oven mashed up with salted butter then topped with a fuckton of Stilton melted in the microwave and loads of black pepper.

Cardiac arrest on a plate but amazing

NaviSprite · 22/11/2019 22:16

Tinned sardines in tomato sauce, uncle bens microwave egg fried rice, sweet corn from a tin and a splash of dark soy sauce. Mix thoroughly and munch.

This is my nighttime snack after my twins have gone to sleep for the night. Quick, easy, tasty and I get to eat it whilst it’s still warm!!

Also, my DH’s sandwiches as follows:

White bread with primula cheese and prawns (or salmon) spread rather than butter. Liberal layer of honey roast ham. Branston Pickle (small chunk) crunchy iceberg lettuce, another layer of honey roast ham and then the top slice of bread (also smothered with primula).

When he first made it I thought it sounded disgusting- it’s actually bloody delicious and I had to hand over the title of best sandwich maker in the house to him! Grin
