To think three 14 inch pizzas is too much between 5?

DH has asked me to pick up pizza for dinner. There are 5 of us (4 adults and one child) and he's asked me to get three 14 inch ones. AIBU to think this is way too much pizza for the 5 of us?? I get him wanting me to get 3 due to different preferences but surely we could just get 3 10 inch pizzas?

What would you get for 5 people if it was a choice of 10 inch or 14 inch?

My husband and son (27) can each eat a 24" pizza plus sides so you'll be fine. Anything left can be eaten cold. I possibly one of the few people in the world who hates pizza 🤢

JumpiestBat · 23/11/2019 18:57

YABU. Unless money was an object I'd go for one large pizza per adult, I'd rather have leftovers than hungry people. Children can pack away more than you realise. Three slices isn't excessive for a child and that's nearly half so I'd not get them a whole big each but at least half a big each.

If you order the larger ones and work out accordingly you get more topping per square inch and less doughy edge Grin

My teens definitely eat one of those on their own.

nannybeach · 23/11/2019 19:21

4 adults can eat, loads!! No wonder there are so many overweight people. Personally, I cant stand pizzas, my DH and adult DD would share a much smaller one, a couple of slices each, with garlic bread, colslaw, they assure me, left over pizza re-heated it disgusting, certainly looks it!

It’s the Pizza Police!

PeriComoToes · 23/11/2019 19:34

MASSIVE overthink. Just get the 3 pizzas 🍕🍕🍕

Emmak789 · 23/11/2019 19:41

You can get pizzas with each half with different toppings. However its always horrible when there isn't enough to go around so get 3 and have the rest for breakfast Smile

It depends how much you are all worried about obesity-related diseases.

Lolwhat · 23/11/2019 19:49

Sounds about right unless you eat tiny amounts

adaline · 23/11/2019 19:49

Good lord, the obesity police are out in force tonight!

BlouseAndSkirt · 23/11/2019 19:50

The OP bought them last night.

THE PIZZAS HAVE ALREADY BEEN EATEN!

It was the right amount - they had some left over.

RTFT.

Why is it better to eat pizza+garlic bread or pizza+chips instead of just more pizza?

hopelesssuitcase · 23/11/2019 21:26

(I mean, pizza+salad I would see the point, but the others can't be any better for you than a pizza)

poorstudent1010 · 23/11/2019 21:52

14” is apparently a large in dominos sizing.

I could eat a large dominos by myself (well most for supper with a few leftover slices for the next morning, no sides) so I don’t think your order is that much for 5 people.

ManiacalLapwing · 23/11/2019 21:58

Never had pizza with chips. If I was having people over for an easy dinner I would pick up some preprepared salads from the supermarket at the same time as the pizza.

BillywigSting · 23/11/2019 22:04

When me and dp get takeaway it's usually a 14 inch pizza, half a dozen wings, chips and a 10 inch garlic bread. It doesn't always all get eaten but it's slightly shameful how often we end up polishing off the lot between the two of us.

Three 14 inch pizzas for five people is most definitely not enough, especially shop bought ones which tend to be less heavy than a takeaway.

I always thought you bought enough pizza with the idea that you will have leftovers for breakfast/lunch/the hangover
Next day pizza is so much better

Bloodless · 24/11/2019 11:08

Personally it’d have to be curry for me. Not that that’s helpful lol

Fruitbatdancer · 24/11/2019 11:15

Thanks. I need pizza now.

MyNewBearTotoro · 24/11/2019 11:16

Was it too much food in the end?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 24/11/2019 11:27

Jeeze people RTFTHmm

Singlenotsingle · 24/11/2019 15:41

No problem with obesity related conditions, provided this is an occasional treat.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 24/11/2019 15:46

We had dominos pizza the other night - first time in about 5 years! The 2 of us shared 2 14” pizzas. Did take all evening and the next day lunch to finish them and boy! Were we stuffed but once in 5 years isn't too bad! Grin
