To say that Currys are CUNTS

QuietAndStill · 21/11/2019 14:31

I'm not. The are cunts of the highest order and I rue the day I ever spent a penny of my money there. The customer service might be the worst I've ever had and I do hope that they're the next to go down the pan. Fuck you Currys. Smile

I hate Curry's. Their customer service is shit and all they care about is selling insurance.

I walked out of a shop because they refused to sell me a laptop without a preloaded anti virus software protection, I had to pay extra for this software.

I walked out and just went online and brought the laptop.

justasking111 · 21/11/2019 17:28

I got fed up with the unhelpful staff in our branch, they really do not have a clue my teenage son ran rings round them knowledge wise. Now use AO and have no complaints.

Trillis · 21/11/2019 17:35

Blimey, I am really shocked at all these bad experiences. I have no connection other than as a customer, but I've always had really good experiences with Currys/pc world. I might just be lucky in my local shop staff though. I've had things break or fail, from a kettle to a smartphone, and they have always just exchanged it without any fuss whatsoever. I actually choose to buy things from there, rather than elsewhere, because I trust that I'll have no problem if something goes wrong. I had an awful time getting a refund/replacement from amazon for a phone that broke after about 6 months, such that I will never by tech from them again. But when a different phone from currys broke after about 8 months, they just swapped it for a new one, no issue at all. It must just be my local store that's good then, if everyone elses is so rubbish!

MLMsuperfan · 21/11/2019 17:39

No I don't want an extended warranty on my printer cartridge.

MumOfAPickle · 21/11/2019 17:50

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 I had the exact same experience with them trying to wangle a ‘set up’ fee from me. I’d ordered and paid for my laptop online and I’d deliberately chosen one without this as it seemed a nonsense. Went to collect and was told that they didn’t have any left that weren’t already ‘set up’ and I’d have to pay. Well clearly that wasn’t happening Grin My DH wandered over while I was waiting for the manager and the young lad looked at him hopefully as if he would sort his wilful wife out. DH asked if all ok and I said “not really, apparently they do not have the item that I have reserved and paid for and because of this error they would like me to pay another £50 for an item I don’t want”. They went off for a conflab and gave me the ‘set up’ laptop without the extra charge but you could tell they weren’t happy about it. They must pull this trick day in day out with laptop customers Angry.

Th thing is they might make a short term gain but they must lose so much future custom from it due to bad feeling. I haven’t been back and with 2 kids they’ve lost out on years of potential tech purchases Confused

SmileyGiraffe · 21/11/2019 17:51

@QuietAndStill the CEO doesn't get involved personally, but he will have a team who do and report back. I've done that job for another big company so if I have a problem, I just go to the top and it gets sorted.

QuietAndStill · 21/11/2019 17:54

For all the pearl clutchers, I obviously didn't call anyone at Currys a 'cunt' in my dealings with them. This is an anonymous Internet forum and I was upset and frustrated and letting off steam. It's just a word. Confused

OP posts:
SmileyGiraffe · 21/11/2019 17:55

@KamikazeIdiot. I'm not sure if the kamikaze part of your name is accurate, but the second part certainly is.

I have done that fucking job. I know it works.

I wish people would stop posting total bullshit because they cant understand plain English. At no stage did I suggest the CEO would open his emails. I said his team would sort it and they will. They did it for me three weeks ago.

Thick as fucking mince.

isabellerossignol · 21/11/2019 17:55

They emailed me ten times asking for the same information. Ten!

And they gave me multiple phone numbers to ring each time insisting that this was the right one. Some of them were for a recorded message and, memorably, one of them was for a completely different and unconnected company.

PizzaExpressWoking · 21/11/2019 17:57

I'm amazed Currys are still in business. They've always been shit. I thought they'd be one of the ones that went under years ago.

FOJeremy · 21/11/2019 17:57

Never, ever had a problem with currys despite purchasing a new tv, tumble dryer, hob and fridge freezer all in the last year.

Scotsrule · 21/11/2019 18:45

www.resolver.co.uk/companies/currys-pc-world-complaints

If the clicky work links give resolver a go, 2 years of arguing with Vodafone was sorted within 48 hrs after I found this site

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 21/11/2019 19:04

very awkward

ForalltheSaints · 21/11/2019 19:05

I do not expect good customer service from Currys. There are some stores that focus on offering a few things at discounted prices, and consider only basic customer service as part of this. The Ryanair of the high street as it were.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/11/2019 20:12

It's just a word. @QuietAndStill It's just a word that women should not use in my opinion as it is anti-women and offensive. It's regarded as the 'worst' swear word of all and I for one hate women using it on a women's forum. You could have used so many other words.

Abertropper · 21/11/2019 20:46

Curry’s have a “CEO team”. If you email the ceo one of them pick it up and sort it. So the ceo doesn’t see the email but it isn’t a waste of time at curry’s because it’s prioritised and if you email the normal email it’s probably going to the outsourcing team who are useless.

MLMsuperfan · 22/11/2019 00:41

Wonder what the C stands for in CEO.

ViciousJackdaw · 22/11/2019 02:23

It's regarded as the 'worst' swear word of all

No way is 'cunt' the worst word of all. Not when people freely use terms like 'rtard' and 'mng'. Those words are far more offensive than a slang term for the female genitalia.

HappyHarlot · 22/11/2019 07:14

YANBU OP.

I had issues with their abysmal service about fifteen years ago and haven’t darkened their door since.

NoSauce · 22/11/2019 07:39

Totally agree with pp about your bad language. Classy

What a twatty thing to post.

NoSauce · 22/11/2019 07:43

She used the word she wanted to, it’s allowed. It’s up to the OP which swear word she uses. I’m not a fan of cunt myself actually and don’t use it on forums or in RL but I don’t police other women and their use of it.

And let’s face it, this is one time it’s totally warranted.

DippyAvocado · 22/11/2019 07:50

I've just bought a laptop from there as it was reduced to a good price and easy for me to collect. Last time I bought one there (several years ago), the member of staff spoke to me in a really quite patronising way. I shrugged it off as a one-off, but yet again this time the member of staff that sold me the product was rude and patronising so that will be my last visit there.

Newsflash to Currys/PC World. Women also buy electrical products. If you're going to be rude, we'll take our money elsewhere. I'll try AO after reading this thread.

Tellmetruth4 · 22/11/2019 07:51

They are shit. I was a weekend girl there when it was called Dixon’s. The managers were shocking in their aggressiveness.

Sir Stanley Kalhms (so?) who founded the chain used to come in from time to time (flagship store) and he refused to smile or give eye contact to anyone below store manager grade.

When the law was changed to give part time workers the same rights as full time, they regraded us as ‘casuals’ so we wouldn’t have right to sick or holiday pay.

We were encouraged to up sell or even scare customers in to buying useless insurance on goods and would get bonuses for it (actually only sales staff would get the bonus, the till people wouldn’t). All the sales staff were males and tills were women.

Fucking bastards and I haven’t bought anything in there since I left. Their own brand stuff which they branded with a fake Japanese name was next level poor quality too.

ShatnersWig · 22/11/2019 07:56

Drabarni I've never encountered any Roma working for AO.com (who I have used many times, in several different areas). I had appalling service from Currys once and vowed never to use them again. I''ve never had issues with Richer Sounds for audio or John Lewis for TV either.

I'm amazed in this day and age, no one has blown the whistle on the practices you've talked about, as they did with Amazon, Sports Direct etc.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/11/2019 08:07

Dh uses richer sounds, the staff are great & he says you can tell they know their stuff.
