To say that Currys are CUNTS

QuietAndStill · 21/11/2019 14:31

I'm not. The are cunts of the highest order and I rue the day I ever spent a penny of my money there. The customer service might be the worst I've ever had and I do hope that they're the next to go down the pan. Fuck you Currys. Smile

They get away with it because people assume they will have the economies of scale to be loads cheaper than everywhere else!

They're not.

I got a better spec washing machine from my local independent hardware shop, delivered, fitted and the old one taken away, for less than the nearest equivalent machine from Currys.

And the hard sell you get from them is fucking tedious.

searchingforlight · 21/11/2019 15:41

I’ve never bought anything from Curry’s/PC World and probably never will! I don’t see the appeal when there’s Argos, Amazon, Jessica etc.

searchingforlight · 21/11/2019 15:42

Jessops* bloody autocorrect!

GoldFrankincenseMyrrh · 21/11/2019 15:43

I'm always polite, but I persist and persist and persist. And I always get satisfaction

Yes. Me too.

Yup, me too. But really we shouldn't have to fight and battle with call after call. When we as customers are in the right, I always get my way because if the company won't help my credit card company will but it all takes time which is a commodity most people simply don't have much of. They bank on us giving up which most probably do.

MeowTseTung · 21/11/2019 15:43

Yep, Curry's are crap.

My estranged ordered a cooker from them a few weeks ago - they failed to deliver it twice, customer services claimed it was her fault for not being at home on both occasions... Hmm

Team KnowHow? Team NoShow more like.

Sugarintheplum · 21/11/2019 15:46

Take the Curry's price, go to John Lewis, make them match it - best customer service ANYWHERE!

AJPTaylor · 21/11/2019 15:47

They have always been cunts. Dixon's were before them.
That is why Ao walked through the open door by actually delivering when they say, installing stuff, being polite and sorting out problems cheerfully.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2019 15:49

They came to install our new dishwasher and left it stuck 5cm out from the worktop because they'd left the protective film on so it wouldn't fit in the gap when it bunched up. The installer said it was because I'd measured it wrong. Apparently some companies say 65 Cm deep but they are actually 70 Cm and I should have known to ask this?!
I phoned their customer service while he was still in my house refusing to pull it out and he told them the same, that I'd measured it wrong. They told him to go. They then sent another engineer another day to pull it out. I did point out that surely that meant they agreed with me and that it was wrong and that he had clearly lied both to me and to them.

The next day the new installer came, and with sheer brute strength he prised apart the kitchen units with his bare hands and fitted the dishwasher into the space that was 5 Cm Too shallow....oh wait, no, it was measured correctly and it was right.

To be fair though, they didn't quibble my complaint and refunded my installation and delivery charge. I took great delight in sending photos of it, fitted, to the useless lump who fitted it first time.

QuietAndStill · 21/11/2019 15:56

@percheron67 You don't perchance work for Currys, do you? Smile

To get even better results, write a proper, old-school letter on paper. That really gets results. Trust me!

An even better ruse is to put the letter in a pink envelope, hand write the address, put Private and Confidential at the top of the envelope and spray it with perfume. The CEO will be the one opening it Grin

pigsDOfly · 21/11/2019 15:57

Absolutely agree OP. It must be nearly 15 year since I last bought something at Currys; it was a fridge freezer. The delivery men turned up late, dumped it in the middle of my kitchen and left.

When I started unwrapping it I realised they'd delivered the wrong fridge freezer.

Got it swapped the next day but there was not apology and you'd have thought it was my fault from the way it was dealt with.

Awful place, staff are rude and haven't the first idea about the meaning of customer service.

Would never go there for anything.

I also buy most of my smaller electricals at Argos.

The staff in my local Argos are lovely. Anything goes wrong, they can't do enough to help.

I bought a gift from Argos for my DGD, turned up to pick it up and when the assistant bought it out the box was rather battered. I explained it was a present so she order another one and got it delivered to my house the same evening; that's customer service.

Obviously, I go back to Argos. Currys will never see me again.

Roussette · 21/11/2019 16:00

Totally agree. I have spent hours and hours in the past sorting out something unfair. But I have the time now. Lots of people don't.

WaterOffADucksCrack · 21/11/2019 16:02

I suspect that the real problem is that staff are paid poorly [minimum wage?] and only get commission on things that none of us really want like the extended warranties and so on. That's no excuse for being rude to customers. I work in care and it's poorly paid but we treat every resident and their loved ones with kindness, dignity and compassion. There is never an excuse to be unkind whatever job you do.

CymaticPrincess88 · 21/11/2019 16:07

I went in to buy a Nintendo switch once, I was redirected by a staff member out the door and told that there was an argos round the corner. Confused

KamikazeIdiot · 21/11/2019 16:08

Email [email protected] with your co.plaint including the awful phone call. Hes the CEO and his team will sort it.

I do wish people would stop posting nonsense like this.

Chief executive officers of companies with £10,000,000,000 turnover do not open their own e-mail and reply to individual customer complaints.

Slatkater · 21/11/2019 16:08

Also another person who doesn’t shop at Curry’s because they are crap.

percheron67 · 21/11/2019 16:09

Quietandstill - Promise I never have and never will work for them! I don't have a high regard for them. It is just that - my point of view - foul language can, often, blur a message.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 21/11/2019 16:12

I agree!! They STOLE £50 from me!

Well- I reserved a laptop from their website; I really need it for university work, and it was the best I could afford. However, when I went in to collect it, they charged me an extra £50, (...which I could ill afford having spent all my money on the Laptop). When I asked about this charge, they said it was because they had 'set it up' for me - (ie- they had taken it out of its box, charged it, and pressed a couple of 'okay' boxes). I said I didn't want them to do that. They said that they had already done it so I had to pay it. I said I didn't want that laptop - I wanted one which hadn't been set up. They said they didn't have any other laptops like it, so I had to pay the £50. I was, and still am, soo angry about that.

mindproject · 21/11/2019 16:14

I went in there today to buy a laptop. They were so scammy. I walked out without buying anything. First they were trying to sell me Office when the laptop already had it installed on it. Then they tried to sell me McAffee protection for £60, but soon reduced it to £20 when I said I can get it for free. Then they tried to scam me into £40 set up fee. Then they tried to scam me into buying cover. I asked what the guarantee was for then and they said it wasn't a good guarantee. They asked me what I would do if the laptop was faulty? I asked them why they're selling faulty laptops.

I bought one in John Lewis instead. No fuss. No scams. Really good customer service.

MoaningMinniee · 21/11/2019 16:14

I actually find the best service and pretty competitive pricing is from a local independent who are part of the Euronics network. Euronics are basically a wholesaler who are big enough to have buying power with the manufacturers. Currys like so many of the big ones have failed to keep up in the world of browse the shop floor then buy on the web. The only way any retailer with showroom space to pay rent and rates and staff costs on can get ahead is by offering something that internet-only sellers can't - and fantastic face to face customer service is probably the best single motivation for people to chose to pay a bit more.

Fizzypoo · 21/11/2019 16:18

No argos are shit!

My cooker is not even a year old yet, its had two issues so far. The first issue, the bottom oven not working, took over 3 months to get sorted, numerous phone calls - they were dicks. I tweeted in the end and it got resolved.

The fan hasn't worked since the engineer fixed the bottom oven... it's still not resolved, they hang up on me, promise to ring me back and continue to be shocking. I'm never buying anything electrial from Argos again!

Musmerian · 21/11/2019 16:26

I once bought a washing machine there and paid extra to get it plumbed in. They didn’t do it properly and the water didn’t empty. Had to pay a plumber to sort as no response from them.?17 years ago and never used them again.

Roussette · 21/11/2019 16:27

Chief executive officers of companies with £10,000,000,000 turnover do not open their own e-mail and reply to individual customer complaints

Hmmm.... I wrote to the CEO of Sony UK with a complaint. I emailed and posted a letter. Within an hour of sending the email, his assistant rang me at home.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 21/11/2019 16:32

In the past they installed a washing machine but took all the pipes out of the back of my dishwasher and left it like that. And another time delivered a fridge but refused to take the old one away even though I had paid for that service. I would not let them leave until I had H.O on the phone telling them to take it away

Always a bad vibe in their stores too with disappearing staff .
I use AO now

TheDogsMother · 21/11/2019 16:32

After a particular experience with Curry's I made the decision that hell would have to freeze over before I ever shop there again.
