Answering door in pyjamas

Ribrabrob · 21/11/2019 12:05

I’ve ordered some early lunch on Deliveroo (under the weather and hungry). I’ll be in for the whole day, chilling in pyjamas.

Aibu to answer the door in pyjamas and dressing gown? Is it rude?

OP posts:

low standards have we StarlingsInSummer?

WhatTheActualFrick · 21/11/2019 17:25

Haha! Yes, of course it's OK, OP, as is any not-indecent attire.

What was probably not OK was that when my baby was a week old, I was basically pretty off my rocker, and I accidentally answered the door completely topless. That poor postman Blush

Italiangreyhound · 21/11/2019 17:25

It's not rude but whenever I hear the phrase 'answering door in pyjamas'

I have to make my dad's joke - You have a door in your pyjamas!

Get well soon. Thanks

UnitedRoad · 21/11/2019 17:26

Until quite recently I wouldn’t answer the door to the postman without being dressed, which made life awkward, as I work from home, and prefer to wear pyjamas (I shower and brush my teeth but put on clean pyjamas). Recently I’ve stopped worrying so much, and the postman doesn’t give any shits at all. I’ve got a feeling he’s not studying the outfit of a middle aged housewife.

When I was young and living with my parents, I wouldn’t open the door without wearing eyeliner...

Prevegen4U · 21/11/2019 17:30

When I was full term I rushed to answer the door in only my dressing gown when our puppy ran behind me, grabbed the hem and yanked my dressing gown wide open - just as I open the door.

It was two work men. Nobody said anything.

PurpleFrames · 21/11/2019 17:33

People order takeaways fully dressed!? 😱🤪

WhatTheActualFrick · 21/11/2019 17:34

@Prevegen4U - brilliant. You win the thread Grin

Lak1115 · 21/11/2019 17:34

I always get a little anxious and embarrassed answering the door in my PjS. It doesn’t happen very often as usually up and dressed by 6.30am! But I always apologise 🤣 I am pretty sure they are used to seeing all sorts of things though. A little while ago a neighbour of mine was outside talking to someone in Just his boxers at so 11am. Admittedly it was a Sunday. I walked past and didn’t know where to look 🤣

BeyondMyWits · 21/11/2019 17:34

"It was two work men. Nobody said anything"

This is what gets me (I'm left boob Blush ) it does make you wonder what people DO see that makes a mere naked breast or flashing woman so "unremarkable"!

BreadSauceHmm · 21/11/2019 17:38

It's fine they've seen all sorts and they couldn't care less.

SquashedOrange · 21/11/2019 17:55

I read the whole thread and can't believe no one has asked the OP what she ordered for lunch Angry

I neeeed to know!

OctoberLovers · 21/11/2019 17:56

Wow! Biscuit

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 21/11/2019 17:59

please tell me your out doing something really exciting.posting from a 200ft rockface

400ft rockface. Whilst ascending it backwards. And upside down. Wink

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 21/11/2019 18:06

I'm pretty sure one of the commenters disapproving of this is my mum. Shock

The minute I get home, pyjamas go on. If I'm working from home, pyjamas are on. There's just no need to wear proper clothes unless one has to, in my view. I'm a happy slattern.

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 18:13

Not sure what you would want the poor men to say, they'd be scared to be accused of all sorts! Grin

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 21/11/2019 18:14

No. That's so common op. You must answer the door wearing a ball gown and the crown jewels.

BeyondMyWits · 21/11/2019 18:17

"Not sure what you would want the poor men to say, they'd be scared to be accused of all sorts!"

welllllll - it would have been nice if he had told me my breast was on display and not just let me spend 10 minutes unloading all my shopping with it on display in my sleep deprived fog Grin Blush

KatherineJaneway · 21/11/2019 20:13

I beat some of you. I answered the door in pi's, a robe AND wet hair Grin

He didn't bat an eyelid.

sherea · 21/11/2019 21:46

I deliver takeaway a few nights a week, it's completely normal for people to be in pjs. Quite a few men in their underpants as well. Doesn't bother me, but I'm a liberal woman lol.

Scarlettpixie · 21/11/2019 21:48

Do what you want! I wish we had deliveroo at lunch. Round here takeaways are direct or via just eat and evening only.

Longfacenow · 21/11/2019 21:52

I've never stayed in pyjamas all day unless ill, but I don't think it is rude if you choose to do that and order food to your house.

User3421090989098 · 21/11/2019 22:36

Most of the time I’ve ordered food I’m in my pjs, I’m one of those who gets into pjs as soon as they get home, especially in winter! It’s not rude and really why do you care what a stranger thinks of you?
