Answering door in pyjamas

Ribrabrob · 21/11/2019 12:05

I’ve ordered some early lunch on Deliveroo (under the weather and hungry). I’ll be in for the whole day, chilling in pyjamas.

Aibu to answer the door in pyjamas and dressing gown? Is it rude?

OP posts:
BigSandyBalls2015 · 21/11/2019 14:31

I'm working from home today and I'm still in PJs. I've never thought to order a takeaway for lunch ….. you've got me thinking now!

shearwater · 21/11/2019 14:41

I saw at least two people wearing pyjama bottoms with a coat over the top on Saturday morning while out and about. I did a double take at the 40 something man in bright red Superman pjs, like something a seven year old boy would wear.

I shouldn't worry about opening your own down wearing them, OP.

shearwater · 21/11/2019 14:41

*door

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 21/11/2019 14:48

As long as your not naked, it’s fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 21/11/2019 14:50

MN is absolutely baffling sometimes.

Yep. This is up there with “what should I order from the takeaway” Hmm

Mammyloveswine · 21/11/2019 14:52

I always get in my pjs when I get a takeaway!

RollOnNextYear · 21/11/2019 14:52

I'm in pjs today. Sinomly had a shower decided not to go out and have a lazy day with dd. Pjs are more comfortable so put some more on.
I've answered door for a parcel.
Put 2 dirty nappies in wheelie bin and in a bit will put the wheelie bin out on the path.
And I live on a busy Rd.

flirtygirl · 21/11/2019 14:53

I don't get dressed till I'm going out, every day, ever.

It means my clothes stay nice and I'm comfy to get in and out of bed, etc.

I don't think you need to ask this question, because who on earth would care including the delivery driver?

FizzyIce · 21/11/2019 14:53

I got fully dressed , make up and everything to answer the door at 6am this morning for a furniture delivery.
I have a problem..

kateandme · 21/11/2019 15:08

half the time we get (silly) people delivering at horrible times in the morning so its grabbing whatevers on the chair and running down the stairs to answer it.
who cares.if they do good for them they can go and have a problem with it elsewhere cant they.

kateandme · 21/11/2019 15:09

im so glad ive found 3 pages of fellow pj wearers today.

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/11/2019 15:10

I shlep around the house in jammie-like attire most of the time - I wear what I want in my own house, lol. Doubt people notice or care!

DurhamDurham · 21/11/2019 15:15

I once opened the door to the postman in my pj's and no makeup and he asked if I was ill. I said no, I always look like this on a morning! Grin

dontlickthelamp · 21/11/2019 15:29

I do this all the time, I think my delivery driver thinks I don’t wear anything else

thatguiltyfeeling · 21/11/2019 15:29

First week of maternity leave I went out shopping, bought lots of things and by the time I got home was shattered. Let the electricity man in to do his checks in my dressing gown and sat on the sofa, fought it but eventually fell asleep until I woke up to him standing at the living room door saying I had an ASDA delivery arrived Blush
Answering the door in pyjamas is absolutely fine, and I bet no delivery driver bats an eyelid after they've been doing the job a couple weeks

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 15:46

if the late Hugh Hefner could get away with it, why couldn't you?

I don't understand people who live in pyjamas frankly, but your home, your rules. You are much more presentable in pjs than someone in a tarty dress or ridiculously short shorts.

evilharpy · 21/11/2019 15:46

I did it today when the amazon man knocked. I started work (from home) at 7:30 and didn't look up from my laptop till the door knocked at 1pm and I had totally forgotten I was still in PJs. I don't usually like to though. My mum would have a fit if she knew I answered the door in PJs.

Omashu · 21/11/2019 15:49

This is just posting a question for the sake of it 🙄

Drabarni · 21/11/2019 15:52

Our postman is usually early abot 9/10 so I always answer in my pjs.

CobaltRose96 · 21/11/2019 16:03

I’m ill so have been in PJs all day. Today I’ve answered the door to a Tesco delivery driver and Amazon driver in PJs and fluffy dressing gown. The didn’t bat an eyelid Grin

SapphireSeptember · 21/11/2019 16:08

I answer the door in my nighties, you're even more covered up in PJs I would have thought (unless they're of the skimpy vest top and very short shorts type.)

CatInTheDaytime · 21/11/2019 16:13

I've answered the door to the postie in a towel, having jumped out of the bath in a hurry so as not to miss a parcel. I kind of hid behind the door but it was obvious as I was soaking. He just smirked. I'm sure they don't care as long as they're not being shouted at, eaten by dogs etc.

WorraLiberty · 21/11/2019 16:26

Christ, do people really give a shit about answering the door in pyjamas and dressing gown?? Confused

Littleunicorndreams · 21/11/2019 16:27

I answered the door in my dressing goen at 3pm. Its freezing here and my dressing gown is the only thing warm enough. No ine can tell that I’m fully dressed underneath!

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 16:30

Christ, do people really give a shit about answering the door in pyjamas and dressing gown??

well yes, some of us have standard and wouldn't be slobbing in a dressing gown all day. Some of us also have clothes that actually fit so can actually have comfortable day wear, which is a shocking concept for some people apparently

I don't even own a dressing gown, they look horrendous Grin
