Answering door in pyjamas

Ribrabrob · 21/11/2019 12:05

I’ve ordered some early lunch on Deliveroo (under the weather and hungry). I’ll be in for the whole day, chilling in pyjamas.

Aibu to answer the door in pyjamas and dressing gown? Is it rude?

The other weekend I answered the door on a Saturday at 1pm wearing a dressing gown only to find it was the Liberal candidate for the area!

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 21/11/2019 16:38

do people really give a shit about answering the door in pyjamas and dressing gown??

Only when they have literally nothing else going on in their lives.

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 16:41

Only when they have literally nothing else going on in their lives

I would say it's more likely people who are spending the day in their pjs and dressing gown who haven't much going on...

tillytrotter1 · 21/11/2019 16:42

MN is absolutely baffling sometimes.

Glad I'm not alone! How do people maage to breathe in and out without 'posting for traffic'?

kateandme · 21/11/2019 16:43

DontbeaBabs what a load of bullshit reply.

Ribbityrib · 21/11/2019 16:48

People posting on mn at 4.20 in the afternoon and talking about people who have nothing going on in their lives are living in glass houses...

Or possibly, both daytime pjs or mumsnetting just means people have days off occasionally, but how much more fun to sneer self-righteously...

GladAllOver · 21/11/2019 16:48

In the summer I often work at home in the altogether as I feel more comfortable that way. If there's a call at the door I just slip on a jacket that hangs by the door. Delivery people have never batted an eye, they are all under time pressure to hand over the parcel and get off to the next job.

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 16:54

kateandme

your opinion, I still think it's being a slob.

I wouldn't find it terribly attractive if DH was in his pjs when I bring a friend for diner, or when one of the kids has his friends around

kateandme · 21/11/2019 16:54

i was counting on at least on delivery drivr to be on here...

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 16:54

which one are you then Ribbityrib Wink

Anyone sneering about others wearing pyjamas in the day really mustn’t have anything else going on to find head space to worry about that. The fact I can post this from a mobile phone in the afternoon says nothing about what’s going on in my life Grin

stucknoue · 21/11/2019 16:55

I personally wouldn't but they won't care!

Lhastingsmua · 21/11/2019 16:56

I did this with a Deliveroo order the other day, it was 10pm though and I was unwell so I certainly didn’t feel like dressing up

WorraLiberty · 21/11/2019 16:57

Honestly, some people are so weird and this is why I love MN Grin Grin

kateandme · 21/11/2019 17:00

DontbeaBabs then you call your husband and let him know someone comeing over.or heaven forbid you arrive and he skoots upstairs to change.

thunderandsunshine01 · 21/11/2019 17:03

This is a weird question but the answers making me crease, left boob.. Grin

When we took DD trick or treating a woman answered the door in her knickers and a cami top. That one may have been teetering on the line of inappropriate...

kateandme · 21/11/2019 17:04

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory please tell me your out doing something really exciting.posting from a 200ft rockface!?

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 17:06

kateandme
yes, because I would love to live with someone who needs to be called and reminded to be decent Grin Grin Grin

kateandme · 21/11/2019 17:10

DontbeaBabs better than living with someone so judgemental over wearing pyjamas. they are not in-decent.

DontbeaBabs · 21/11/2019 17:12

no it's a great look, I am sure my kids would be ever so proud to see me slobbing all day.

I do teach them to buy clothes that fit though, so they can actually bear to spend some time in them. It helps Grin

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 21/11/2019 17:13

I answered the door In my pjs today to a few parcels. I looked a right mess just had a bad endoscopy done, my eyes very bloodshot and had a swollen face, numb throat so I was most likely dribbling as well. Had sedation that didn’t seem to work and time of procedure but I felt wobbly a while after so was likely walking like I had a few also. I’m not even embarrassed it’s normal to be in your pjs at home sometimes.

kateandme · 21/11/2019 17:15

its not being a slob to ear pjs DontbeaBabs and you can still have clothes that fit and like to wear pjs.

StarlingsInSummer · 21/11/2019 17:15

PJs are fine. Dressing gown is fine. Naked is not fine.

This dress code only applies for inside the house. Clothes for the shops and school run, please!

StarlingsInSummer · 21/11/2019 17:17

And I’m damn sure my son is proud of me because I’m a good mum, and I work hard to support him and to look after him. I doubt he gives much a fuck if I wear pjs occasionally during the day when I’m working from home. And neither does my manager.
