AIBU?

Answering door in pyjamas

I’ve ordered some early lunch on Deliveroo (under the weather and hungry). I’ll be in for the whole day, chilling in pyjamas.

Aibu to answer the door in pyjamas and dressing gown? Is it rude?

No, if they are decent pyamas why not?
I have done it many times when a package arrives here in the morning. Only time when I regret it is when the sexy delivery guy from a certain courier service shows up at my door Grin

Your delivery driver absolutely could not give a toss what you wear to answer the door. Of course it's not rude. Are you posting from 1896 or something?

In China people occasionally walk the dog or go to the supermarketin their pyjamas (the Dude style). I think it’s great, who gives a f*, right?

My neighbours call me 'Woman in a dressing gown' as I've answered the door to them at least once still in my jim-jams & dressing gown mid-afternoon....
I don't care what time it is during the day, as long as I'm covered by a dressing gown, I will answer the door!

I’m going to call my dressing gown a goonie from now on. Not heard that before.

Of course it’s fine. I bumped into my postman recently in the street and realised it’s probably the first time in 5 years he’s seen me in day clothes and not my dressing gown Blush

That's what Deliveroo is for. Just don't forget to put your top on if you we re previously topless. Trust me, that's embarrassing

No, that's very rude. You should be dressed appropriately.

I'm another person who doesn't get dressed into clothes unless I'm leaving the house. The postman, delivery drivers and random folks who come to pick up stuff they've bought from me often see me in this state, I couldn't give a shite.

I do this all the time. Mind you, I still remember, in the days when I used to work for a market research company and bang on doors, the young chap who answered in nothing but his boxer shorts. The thing was, his front door was one of those that's up a couple of steps, and the 'rule' of banging on doors like that is that you stay on the lower step rather than being right in the person's face. So in this case I was kind of eyeball-to-boxers.

(They were dazzingly white boxers and the rest of him was tanned and musclebound BTW. So it could have been worse.)

I once saw this documentary about a lady who kept answering the door in her dressing gown: Postman, Milkman, Pizza Delivery, Plumber with his great big wrench. They all came at once. (As it were.)

It was very educational.

I’m still in my PJs and just answered the door....... it was my local Tory candidate 🤣

When I was heavily pregnant with DC1 I once opened the door to a delivery man in my pyjamas (as by that stage, PJs were the only thing that comfortably fit me) and he made a comment about ‘not becoming one of those mothers who laze about all day in their pyjamas once the baby arrives’. I wish I’d had the presence of mind to give him a thorough dressing down (pardon the pun) but in the moment I was so shocked and embarrassed that I just took the parcel and closed the door. I think you should be able to wear whatever the hell you like in your own bloody home. It’s not like they’re coming in for coffee!

Once when DD was a baby I answered the door to the Tesco delivery driver with my left boob out.

😂

I think as long as you are not naked then you can answer your own front door wearing whatever you please.

I have been greeted by far too many undressed men (it is always the males) to be bothered by PJ's. Seriously just put some clothes on. Envy ←not envy

Yes, do be sure to wear your pearls and twinset, won't you.

If they think anything it'll be they wish they were at home wearing their pjs. I have answered the door to delivery people in my pjs loads, of times. My house, my rules.
