She gets slated on twitter and irl I don't know anyone who likes her especially. But I think she's great (not perfect) and admire what she's doing and feel like she's someone I'd be friends with.

JK We have to speak factually. I have never heard Corbyn or Johnson shout or look angry. In fact I can barely even hear Corbyn when he mutters along, we can not lie and pretend that they do!!

However if we want to talk about men shouting we do not have to look very far IAN BLACKFORD has an entire brand and following, given his screechy ill tempered speeches. So just for balance lets consider him shall we, so no one can throw around the gender card.

The United Kingdom is just that, and most of us hope to keep it that way.

JKScot4 · 19/11/2019 12:00

@Consider
‘most’ aye ok 🤣🤣
Why are you desperate to cling onto Scotland? nothing to do with our revenue?

Trewser · 19/11/2019 12:15

I can't believe the SNP can bang on about how awful leaving the EU is and how ridiculous England is for wanting to do so, yet want to do exactly the same thing by leaving the UK. You'd think they'd have learnt a lesson by seeing the mess the UK is in over Brexit, but no, just like Farage, THEY know how to do it properly, THEY have more to gain by leaving than staying, England need them more than they need us etc etc etc

Cinammoncake · 19/11/2019 12:18

I really like Ian Blackford Blush
SNP are saying Scotland voted to remain True Fact.

What do you like about her?
Jo Swinson;
supports forcing women to remain married to men who transition and change their legal gender.

told women who 'believe' that biological sex is real not to vote for her.

Almost always voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants with empty bedrooms this policy affects people who need a bedroom for a carer to sleep in.

Consistently voted for university tuition fees.

Consistently voted against raising benefits at least in line with prices or inflation.

Almost always voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits.

Almost always voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed.

JKScot4 · 19/11/2019 12:56

@Trewser
Leaving the UK is not comparable to the EU.
Where else is a country dictated to by a neighbouring country?
It is all about ££, WM cling onto Scotland to line their pockets.

GCAcademic · 19/11/2019 13:03

I think people fundamentally misunderstand what the LibDems stand for. There's this perception that they're a centre left party. They are not (and, in fact, I seem to recall Nick Clegg, explicitly saying this when they announced their coalition with the Tories in 2010). In fact what their liberalism amounts to is laissez-faire economic policies and "liberating" men to consume ever-nastier and more accessible porn, buy women's bodies, and gain access to female spaces. I actually think they are the nastiest party of the lot. I would vote Tory before I'd vote Lib Dem, and that's saying something because I despite the Tories and Brexit.

elspeth18 · 19/11/2019 13:06

Havent read full thread so apologies if someone has said this. How can you call yourself a liberal democrat when you are planning to ignore 17 million odd people and cancel Brexit out of hand ?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 19/11/2019 13:07

She actively does not want me, a woman, to vote for her.

So I shall kindly oblige.

I told her so by returning her begging letter I received recently too.

Buscake · 19/11/2019 13:10

Look at her voting record. She is personally responsible for austerity. She helped bring it in. Her voting record on welfare is absolutely horrific. She made the most vulnerable people in society more vulnerable.

Butterisbest · 19/11/2019 13:14

I think she's a good role model for girls. I think she has integrity and believes in what she's saying
🤣🤣
Of course she wants to stop Brexit, where's her husband's money going to come from?

The fact is, if the Tories get in, there is a very high chance we'll get a no deal brexit, which nobody voted for, at the end of 2020. The LibDems won't get a majority gov't. But then at least remain voters will have a voice, and the more votes libdems get, the more influence there will be for a 2nd ref at least. (Although I'd happily cancel Brexit because it's a shit idea sold on lies)

Jo Swinson is totally lacking in charisma.
Ian Blackford is such a blustering bore I can understand why he clears the Commons every time he speaks.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 19/11/2019 13:24

I’m really struggling to know who to vote for. I was going to vote Lib Dem’s as if is the only chance I will get again to say I’m against brexit then I want to take it. When people voted for labour last time they said it gave the government a mandate for a hard brexit as labour didn’t speak out about it.
However I am appalled by their stance gc women and have said they don’t want my vote
Corbyn is awful and would never vote Tory. Who to vote for to protect women’s rights as well as to show that you still don’t want brexit!
As far as I can see the Green Party aren’t much help either with their whole Amy c debacle.

killerKetInMyHomeHelp · 19/11/2019 13:34

I can't stand her either, everything about her is fake, contrived & manipulative. Plus her voting record stinks. I don't think I could even be in the same room with the awful woman, let alone be her friendConfused

Baguetteaboutit · 19/11/2019 13:35

She doesn't want my vote, so there you go.

CatInTheDaytime · 19/11/2019 13:53

I'm not a lib dem but I so wanted her to be up to the job of taking on those two twats. Sadly the more I see the less impressed I am - she's just soundbiting and bandwagon-riding but doesn't engage intelligently or seem "present". And as a female political leader she owes it to women and to herself to investigate why people are worried about trans ideology and understand the issues, not just kick it away and embrace wokeness without thinking. Grrr.

shinynewapple · 19/11/2019 13:59

@JKScot4 but this was a thread about Jo Swanson as leader of Lib Dem's not about Scotland. PurpleCrowbar was explaining why she and others she knew would not be voting Lib Dem. I assume that the voting Tory was a tactical vote in what is currently a Lib Dem seat. Unless her DM lives in Scotland, which I doubt given what she has stated around voting choices, I don't see that your comments are relevant.

JKScot4 · 19/11/2019 14:03

@shinynewapple
My comments are relevant as they are responding to other posters, sorry us Scots are irrelevant to you. I’m quite sure you’re not the MN police

Andsoitisjust99 · 19/11/2019 14:06

I’m really not a fan of their childcare policy. It’s arse about face. All the evidence from child development Is that we be working towards extendIng parental leave, increasing part time hours (maybe a right to go part time if your child is under 2) and flexible working. Essentially normalising and funding babies to be separated from their parents at 9months is bad policy and bad science. As a society we will pay for that sort of approach.

MaMaMaMySharona · 19/11/2019 14:09

I would happily vote LibDem to keep the Tories out in my area if I needed to, but thankfully the 2nd runner up for me is Labour.

Realistically I would vote for anyone if it meant BJ would be slung on his arse.

RockinHippy · 19/11/2019 14:32

I would happily vote LibDem to keep the Tories out in my area if I needed to, but thankfully the 2nd runner up for me is Labour.

I would unhappily vote fir them for the same reasons, but thankfully won't have too. The worry here is the vote is split between the greens & labour. They stood down in support of each other last time round, but unsure yet if that's happening this time. Nobody is fussed about our own Green candidate, but a scary amount of people think next doors popular Green candidate is ours tooConfused.

DippyAvocado · 19/11/2019 14:37

as soon as Boris offers them a coalition they'll drop all this nonsense about Brexit.

There is next to no chance of a coalition. LDs know it destroyed them electorally last time. In the current election they are chasing votes from centrist Tory and Labour voters, hence the fact they don't want to be seen to be allying with either BJ or JC.

In the event of a hung parliament, the closest that would happen is a confidence and supply deal like the DUP, or more likely arrangements made on a vote-by-vote basis

Talkingmouse · 19/11/2019 14:51

Yes I like her as well op.
The other two main leaders are horrendous.

But more important than anyone’s personal views about the leaders, any kind of brexit is and will be negative for the country, particularly for those less fortunate than others. It has to be Liberals first if you believe this, or whoever is challenging the Tories in a marginal seat.

shinynewapple · 19/11/2019 15:03

@JKScot4 it was in the context of another poster's comments that I thought your post was irrelevant. However you are right - I'm not the MN police so I'll shut up now.Grin
