To think I can't be the only one who likes Jo Swinson

She gets slated on twitter and irl I don't know anyone who likes her especially. But I think she's great (not perfect) and admire what she's doing and feel like she's someone I'd be friends with.

She’s mostly being smeared by Labour activists just because she won’t bow down to Corbyn and help him into power. It’s disgusting.

Bluntness100 · 18/11/2019 18:46

I usually support any women in leadership but I just find her totally lacking. No gravitas at all, fond of the sound of her own voice, terrible polices.

I can't say I like her either.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 18/11/2019 18:48

If you don’t like Brexit, please please please do not vote Tory. Check out some tactical voting websites to help you chose who to give your vote to. Please!

Considermesometimes · 18/11/2019 18:49

cend But if you look at Jo's voting record you realise she doesn't need to be smeared by anyone, it stands for itself, and it is really shocking.

It reads that Boris is actually far more liberal than she is weirdly. She did not have to vote in tangent with the government even in the coalition, even when conservatives such as Boris were voting against increasing tuition fees etc.

It is very unnerving, she is not someone with many principles it seems.

AutumnCrow · 18/11/2019 18:49

I don't recall her being much use over the Rennard business. And the Lib Dems lost some actual good women members because of that debacle.

YouTheCat · 18/11/2019 18:50

She is pushing for harder austerity and her voting record is atrocious. Might as well be a tory.

Considermesometimes · 18/11/2019 18:51

woolly If we vote tactically we get Corbyn, you must know that. Even as a life long labour supporter I will not be doing that. I am not prepared to see the country go under with Momentum at the helm. Sorry but no.

NoHummus · 18/11/2019 18:52

I like her too, OP.
Not enough to vote Lib Dem in an SNP-Tory marginal but hey ho, if she can get past that I'm sure we'd be pals.

AutumnCrow · 18/11/2019 18:53

I will vote btw, and I'll vote tactically; and encourage others to do the same. But I have no admiration for either Johnson or Corbyn or Swinson. It's like an equal opps loathe-in round my house.

dontalltalkatonce · 18/11/2019 18:54

There's nothing that will convince me to vote LibDem after they got into bed with the Tories. She's all for austerity and not getting rid of fucking UC so in other worse, a Tory.

lljkk · 18/11/2019 18:55

I like Jo Swinson a lot, too.

Eyewhisker · 18/11/2019 18:57

The voting record stuff is a red herring. She was in government and as a member of government you have to vote with the government. There is no choice.

It is certainly better than Boris who lies constantly and would do a hard right Brexit and Corbyn who wants to turn the UK into Venezuela.

Cinammoncake · 18/11/2019 19:04

nohummus if I could vote SNP I would. Am considering moving to Scotland. Joanna Cherry and Ian Blackford are superb.

Monkeynuts18 · 18/11/2019 19:04

I do take the point posters are making about her position on women’s rights but surely a Conservative government can’t be preferable on that issue! JRM’s views on reproductive rights anyone?!

Cinammoncake · 18/11/2019 19:06

She was no doubt told how to vote in coalition. It wasn't like now, where everyone goes off doing their own thing voting wise - up to fairly recently people were having to tow the party line.

Her face is always contorted with anger and bitterness, she is always shouting and looks almost demented. Truly bordering on the scary.

Pissed off that the country is being ruined probably. My face looks like that too Grin

I echo what others have already stated: her voting is appalling. She is a yellow Tory, imho. I am sadly not allowed to vote due to not wanting to give up the ability to work and live in 27 EU countries, but otherwise I’d vote for my local Labour MP, who like Corbyn, has a voting record that is a least showing they care about others.

SaskiaRembrandt · 18/11/2019 19:22

I don't like her. I've looked at her voting record, and frankly, she doesn't appear to be a particularly pleasant person.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/11/2019 19:24

Fucking HELL.

I’ve checked a few of those links.

Goddammit, I really don’t want to vote SNP but I’ve now literally run out of options.

SaskiaRembrandt · 18/11/2019 19:25

Given that the LibDems are willing to take rejects from Labour and Conservative, I have no idea what they stand for.

They stand for whatever they think you want them to.

HairyTrotter · 18/11/2019 19:26

This is petty, but she looks like someone from my past that I really didn't like and I can't get past it!

1Morewineplease- if by some strange string of events they did get a majority, surely the will of the people int hat case would be to revoke?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/11/2019 19:30

I was prepared to vote for them until the gender critical comments and the fact that, as a woman, she's happy to throw away the rights of women.

Considermesometimes · 18/11/2019 19:32

*Her face is always contorted with anger and bitterness, she is always shouting and looks almost demented. Truly bordering on the scary.

She could make the point perfectly well without screaming op - I get she fact she feels strongly, we all do, but the Gordon Ramsay look isn't a good one for a future PM.

FizzyGreenWater · 18/11/2019 19:34

She doesn't want me to vote for her apparently Grin

What's a WOMAN to do? Wink

QuizzlyBear · 18/11/2019 19:38

I think we seem to losing the point of these elections anyway - the point is to vote for a.party not an individual leader - we're in danger of becoming America ( a popularity contest to elect a President, a supreme leader!) and nobody wants that...

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 18/11/2019 19:39

She hideous and her voting record is appalling. There is absolutely nothing to like.
