Just that.
Although he is being asked the wrong questions.

The thing I don't understand is that he has a strict diary and protection officers. Surely all he has to do is produce his diary and x and y protection officers - all sorted.

Roussette · 18/11/2019 08:06

Yes.... I mean a member of the Royal Family (the US loves our RF) wouldn't be able to get a hotel room would he...
Instead he had to sofa surf at his friend's gaff.

Prince Andrew tries in vain to find a good deal in Times Square... sheepishly asks Epstein if he can stay there instead

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 08:10

For those saying the unlikely scenario I posted about is ridiculous, well, yes, it is. It is very unlikely indeed. But because it isn’t impossible, and I wasn’t there, I can’t rule it out. This whole situation is one in which millions of strangers are making judgments about what probably happened. My judgement on what probably happened had been given (that is, my actual theory of what is most likely). But that isn’t fact. There are countless permutations of events that are possible and we simply have no way of deciding which of them is the reality. That’s all I have said.

That said, I don’t believe Prince Andrew has been transparent, and I have said this already many times.

LaurieMarlow · 18/11/2019 08:11

Has anyone dug up figures on how many hotel rooms there are in NY? Grin

isabellerossignol · 18/11/2019 08:11

Maybe the Holiday Inn was fully booked and you know how tight the budget is when you're a royal.

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 08:14

The problem with producing his official diary and the testimonies of his protection officers is that it likely raises the question of who else knew about this. Prince Andrew may be shouldering the scandal on his own, but it’s highly likely, if Epstein was a regular guest of the royal family, that others (both royal and associated with royalty) also spent time with him and availed themselves of his hospitality, including Prince Andrew’s close friends and family.

isabellerossignol · 18/11/2019 08:15

He doesn't seem like the sort of man who'd be willing to shoulder responsibility in order to save other's reputations.

flowerpowerr · 18/11/2019 08:15

Surely all he has to do is produce his diary and x and y protection officers - all sorted.

Not if he’s guilty...

Roussette · 18/11/2019 08:15

churchandstate is your 'unlikely scenario' still the fact that Epstein hired a Prince Andrew look alike to have sex with VR?

If so, that is ridiculously batshit and justifying of Prince Andrew's behaviour.

FlyMayBe · 18/11/2019 08:17

My late FIL (who rarely spoke ill of anybody) has met PA in both his work capacity and in his chief leisure activity. He always said PA was an irredeemable shit. I believe him, and I believe those poor girls.

BertrandRussell · 18/11/2019 08:18

He also said something about the “wider” family being very supportive- I wonder if that means his daughters are a bit less so......

LaurieMarlow · 18/11/2019 08:18

if Epstein was a regular guest of the royal family, that others (both royal and associated with royalty) also spent time with him and availed themselves of his hospitality, including Prince Andrew’s close friends and family.

And they should be investigated too, obviously.

It’s clear that this won’t be investigated properly and that’s a disgrace.

BertrandRussell · 18/11/2019 08:19

And I’m surprised we haven’t heard from any of the staff or other guests at the Pizza Express party.

EntropyRising · 18/11/2019 08:19

YOU'VE FORGOTTEN ABOUT HIS TENDENCY TO BE TOO HONOURABLE, I SEE

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 08:20

LaurieMarlow

I agree. But that’s probably the reason Prince Andrew is coming up with all these silly excuses and ‘evidence’ about sweating and Pizza Express. He doesn’t want to say, “Look, [insert high profile name] was there as well. We both snorted a line of coke with Jeffrey, I had a massage from some bird and then we went to bed.”

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 08:21

Roussette

Yes. And it doesn’t justify his behaviour at all. It’s not my theory about what happened. It’s my acknowledgement that I don’t know what happened. Other things are possible than my own deductions. And that’s true of all of us.

Anotherblokelurking · 18/11/2019 08:22
  • How PA did not know Epstein was some sort of pervert is inexplicable. His NY house... Fake nipples mounted on the wall in the bathroom that he could play with whilst having a bath A life size female doll hanging from a chandelier Life size naked statue of african woman The 'leather' room A human chessboard with naked women at the foot of the main stairs How could PA not know he was a sexual deviant?*

I also heard that at all his homes he had large framed photos of naked under-aged girls on the walls.

Ibiza2015 · 18/11/2019 08:23

Having read kind of a lot of books about the royals, this isn’t necessarily the case. They only record what their royal wants. For example, Charles had his RPO and household staff never to record Camilla’s visits even though she virtually lived there while Diana was alive.

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 08:23

isabellerossignol

I don’t agree with that. He seems like exactly the sort of self-important fool to do so.

MeatSoup · 18/11/2019 08:23

So what next for PA??

LaurieMarlow · 18/11/2019 08:24

How PA did not know Epstein was some sort of pervert is inexplicable

Well obviously he did.

He just didn’t see it as a problem Confused

Doubleraspberry · 18/11/2019 08:28

He would have been totally used to girls being around the Epstein home, giving massages and sexual favours. There are eye witnesses of him interacting with them over the years. There is no way in the world he was unaware, and I imagine he found it all entertaining. If he genuinely is uncertain about sleeping with Virginia, perhaps it was a common event to sleep with women when he was with Epstein. He may well have thought she was throwing herself at him rather than being under coercion and his pride is taking a knock.

Nothing about his character as we’ve seen him even in public over the years, let alone the many, many rumours of his private life, suggests he would have taken any sort of moral stand against Epstein.

Roussette · 18/11/2019 08:30

Yes. And it doesn’t justify his behaviour at all. It’s not my theory about what happened. It’s my acknowledgement that I don’t know what happened. Other things are possible than my own deductions. And that’s true of all of us

You have to admit it's a crazy theory that VR might've been sleeping with a prince andrew look alike ... surely? Even as a theory to say we don't know what happened, that is pushing the boat out a bit!

That description of Epstein's house was from me upthread... of course PA knew, at least, that Epstein was a sexual pervert. That is a description of just some of his NY house. If I went to visit a friend and saw that sort of thing, I would be seriously questioning my judgement of this friend.
But not Prince Andrew. Because he does what he wants. I am glad the interview was a shit show.
Everything about it was awful. Pretending he was shot at in Afghanistant... what an insult to the armed forces. He was miles away from any action. The sweating crap, give us a break!

'You can tell a man by the company he keeps'.

That says it all.
