... and be quite annoyed that HIGFY is not on in its usual slot?

Have I got news for you (I think)

MonChatEstMagnifique · 15/11/2019 22:58

webuiltthisbuffetonrockandroll thank you for guiding monchatestmanifique, who was in dire need of some 'comprehension'.

The arseholes on the thread are those trying to put others off donating. Also whether you like it or not, the 'celebs' bring attention to the cause which makes some people watch and then donate. That can only be a good thing.

CareOfPunts · 15/11/2019 22:58

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll I couldn’t agree more on the auction for things that money couldn’t buy. I loved TW in general too though

Samcro · 15/11/2019 22:59

no the celebs just raise their profiles by doing it

BlueDinosaur · 15/11/2019 23:00

It’s shite I can’t stand it and never could. My mil actually called me heartless quite a few years ago for saying what many are saying here. I just find it so so crass having celebs stand and beg for your money, put your hand in your own pocket if you feel that strongly! Carry on the fund raising if it’s helping some good charities but scrap the night of begging, it’s not entertaining in the slightest.

Ouchmyleg · 15/11/2019 23:00

It’s a load of shit.

Just looked on the Asda website and the adults onesie is £12 ‘with a minimum of 20% going to children in need’ ... why the fuck wouldn’t you just give the £12 to children in need if you were that way inclined instead of buying a stupid onesie.

MarchionessOfCholmondeley · 15/11/2019 23:00

No flaming from me we built this buffet I caught the end of the Dragons section and thought the very same thing.

I did enjoy the little girl meeting Jodie Whittaker, although I seemed to have something in my eye at that point.

Ouchmyleg · 15/11/2019 23:01

The kids one is £11 and same rule applies so all these parents running to Asda because the school has said the child needs to wear something pudsey have ensured that only £2.20 goes to them instead of £11.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 15/11/2019 23:02

Toporama
"Pudsey can piss off as well, the furry bastard."

I'm dying 😂 😂 😂

Iamthewombat · 15/11/2019 23:02

I even had to switch Sara Cox off yesterday afternoon because of bloody Rylan and his singing marathon on radio 2.

I usually really like Sara Cox but I found the constant “oh Rylan you’re so brave you’re so great you’re raising so much money you’re amazing I’m going home now to watch you ALL NIGHT” somewhat irksome.

I thought, who is benefiting most from this circus? Oh yes, Rylan, spending 24 hours showing off and being told he is marvellous. It’s a bit creepy actually.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 23:03

Who is stopping anyone donating to charity?

Choose charity you feel does good and worthwhile work, give donation/set up DD. It’s not hard. There are other charities you know.

DurhamDurham · 15/11/2019 23:08

I work for a charity which has benefitted from CIN funding several times, we're currently running a service for three years to provide activities for young carers so I can't bring myself to hate the programme.
I did raise my eyebrow slightly when Louis Tomlinson for a plug for his new album out Monday Hmm, I like Louis but the plug was misplaced.

Grandmi · 15/11/2019 23:11

Just be thankful that your children are not in need !!!! As cringy as you find it ...imagine being one of the parents who actually need full support...it could actually happen to anyone!!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 23:12

When I worked for a charity I was very well aware how people were in need, thanks.

Bezalelle · 15/11/2019 23:16

I wonder how much money is going to Mermaids - a harmful genderist/gay conversion "charity".

butterflywings37 · 15/11/2019 23:17

I guess those that find it so cringeworthy are lucky that they've never had to use or rely on
a charity that is funded by CIN

butterflywings37 · 15/11/2019 23:18

@Bezalelle do you have any evidence any money goes to it or are you just trying to add further negativity?

To my understanding it does to children in need due to poverty, disabilities, abuse etc

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 23:19

It’s documented and in both sets of R&As.

Samcro · 15/11/2019 23:20

I find it cringeworthy, all the very over paid "stars" doing their turn and raising their profile, whilst using the sad and hard stories of real people.

100PercentThatBitch · 15/11/2019 23:22

I haven't watched it this year and I won't be watching CR either

They need to rethink the format of it in its entirety and make it less mawkish overall and stop making it overpaid slebs lecturing ordinary people on how they should do more. It has dated and people are jaded.

Like Gary Barlow throwing out a couple of tunes and asking for donations the last time I watched it.

PERHAPS IF YOU'D PAID THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF TAX BARLOW THEY WOULDN'T BE IN FUCKING NEED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 15/11/2019 23:24

I did raise my eyebrow slightly when Louis Tomlinson for a plug for his new album out Monday hmm, I like Louis but the plug was misplaced.

But some people, teens, will be watching because they know Louis will be on. And hopefully therefore donate. The charity won't lose any money by him plugging his new album. Louis does a lot for some lovely charities, more than many celebs, so I can't think bad of him over it.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 15/11/2019 23:29

Someone mentioned "Louis Tomlinson" and I thought it was that irish closet case off the talent shows. God I'm old.

Elderflower14 · 15/11/2019 23:30

Yabu. They support the drama group which my son attend so I'm happy to donate..

salsmum · 15/11/2019 23:39

Having a sn Dd I find it is good to highlight charity groups that my Dd might have benefited from joining when I was a lone parent. Now she's an adult not much for her sadly. Yes the celebs can get a bit waring but love to see snippets of the west end shows that are current. Sadly at my age I don't get to stay up to the end but I do find the young kids and families who are so courageous very humbling.

ezbem · 15/11/2019 23:40

I get so annoyed with eastenders always being sacrificed too
