... and be quite annoyed that HIGFY is not on in its usual slot?

OP posts:
Tellmetruth4 · 15/11/2019 21:52

Baked some cakes for school bake sale and DC also bought some so we contributed but I won’t be spending my evening watching celebs dancing/singing/sitting in a bath of beans trying to stay relevant.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/11/2019 21:54

Not having a dig, but I genuinely never understand people who insistently ask what an acronym that somebody uses means, especially if it's obviously a TV programme so hardly obscure - even getting irritated if people don't instantly tell them. You're already online if you're using MN - wouldn't it cross your mind to just take 3 seconds to put it into a search engine?

Lulu1919 · 15/11/2019 21:56

I donated and appreciate and support the cause but I do NOT want to actually watch it !!!

foooookinghell · 15/11/2019 21:57

Loaded celebs who probably dodge paying taxes begging for money off the poor

AgeShallNotWitherHer · 15/11/2019 21:59

Have I Got News For You. HIGNFY

FREEM · 15/11/2019 21:59

My kids have benefited from a charity who is supported by children In Need.
The things they support make a huge difference to children.
Imagine spending 9 months in a hoapital room and these charities csn provide a glimmer of hope.
Lets hope none of you slating it ever are in the position of needing that small bit of hope these charities provide.
Quite nieve of people here to express such strong views with no insight.

MintyMabel · 15/11/2019 22:02

It’s been going, what, 25 years and must of raised millions, BUT Pudsey’s eye still hasn’t got any better...

😄

littlecabbage · 15/11/2019 22:02

For the people saying about 'bad' charities, which are these? I'd be interested to know more.

I don't know about this year, but in previous years, huge sums have gone to "charities" (but some more like lobby groups) who strongly advocate "transitioning" gender non-conforming children as young as possible. This is despite many concerns regarding the safety of puberty-blocking drugs, and also the lack of evidence that this solves these children's problems.

AnAngryElf · 15/11/2019 22:02

So just don't watch it? You can't watch anything else or do anything else for one night? Hmm

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 22:03

I’m watching the tennis...

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 15/11/2019 22:04

Me too everyone! I am not spending an evening watching over paid wealthy people begging us mere mortals for cash whether they make fools of themselves or not....I might sound mean but today my dd have a children in need day at school...fair enough..so I bought her the onsie to go in and the tshirt and leggings cos I knew she would be too hot all day,,then the badge and the small pudsey ..30 quid there near or near abouts! Then I had to send buns in to school or cake..as a useless baker and working i dropped into sainsburys and spent another 15 quid on buns for her to buy back for herself...she was allowed 2 so that cost another 2.00 then the donation to wear the children in need clothes school had said they needed to wear!! fuck me think I have done my bit today! I support 3 charities normally by monthly direct debit ..my choice as they mean a lot to me on a personal level and I enjoy doing that but sometimes just sometimes I think I am charitied out and am sick of feeling bad and some millionaire is trying to tell me I am responsible for curing the world of all ills...it drives me barmy.

MintyMabel · 15/11/2019 22:04

Lets hope none of you slating it ever are in the position of needing that small bit of hope these charities provide.

Been there. Doesn’t change my view.

Plenty saying they would still donate to the cause, as do I. That doesn’t mean they want to watch the programme.

HermioneWeasley · 15/11/2019 22:05

They fund Mermaids. I’ve not donated since i found that out.

And I never watched the tv, it’s always been unwatchable cringe inducing

Hydrogenbeatsoxygen · 15/11/2019 22:05

I can’t stand it.

OMGshefoundmeout · 15/11/2019 22:06

I’m not watching it because I find it dull but I fully support them. I work for a local charity (providing free, professional counselling for young people) that has had a lot of support from them over the years.

recrudesence · 15/11/2019 22:06

Watched the first one. Never again. But they’ve had plenty of money from me over the years so my conscience is clear.

MotherOfLittlePeople · 15/11/2019 22:06

I can't watch it anymore since having my own children, it's too heartbreaking.
I buy my children the clothes from Asda and donate money at school for it.

24hourshomeedderandcarer · 15/11/2019 22:08

i havent watched cin for years as we dont have live tv and its all rubbish anyway

yolofish · 15/11/2019 22:09

I would urge anyone to donate directly to their chosen charity instead, as I'm doing with one of tonight's featured charities (halochildrensfoundation.org).

I cant be doing with the celeb shite, which is mostly pretty Z list anyway, but more to the point: if you feel that you've benefitted from an individual charity, or you support a particular cause, share their story on social media but make your donation directly to them so you know where it's going.

RozHuntleysStump · 15/11/2019 22:10

Ugh. I just came to bed and fired up iPlayer for hignfy and it’s not bloody on. Bloody hell

MarziPam · 15/11/2019 22:10

'To those of you saying you don't know where the money goes ... ive worked for orgs that received money, you have to be a registered charity and apply through a grant process. It's strict and the reporting of outcomes is strict too. They support a wide range of projects including those which the general public don't donate directly to (donkeys charities get more often). Don't watch it if it's not your cup of tea, it's a bit corny, but the money does good stuff'

This! ^

Watch or don't but to post you 'hate it' is utterly heartless. The poor families and kids.

ForalltheSaints · 15/11/2019 22:12

Love the cause don't like the programme, so don't watch it.

Helendee · 15/11/2019 22:12

I can’t watch it because it breaks my heart to see children suffering.
I contribute when I can afford to.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 22:13

People choose what to give and if to give.

If it goes against your morals to put a penny piece into the coffers of charities that ‘allegedly’ harm children and young people that that is your decision.

CuteOrangeElephant · 15/11/2019 22:15

YANBU.

I am a creature of habit and I hate it when my television schedule get's disturbed.

There needs to be a separate channel for all charity shows, sport events and other such schedule disturbers.
