AIBU to refuse to wear my work uniform?

Hi, sorry this is a very boring AIBU. I recently got a new job and filled out a sheet regarding uniform. The options are small, medium, large and extra large and I picked small (I’m a size 6/8 and very petite)

The uniform came today and I tried it on when I got home, it is HUGE! The polo shirt is so long it almost goes to my knees and and the jacket could fit me in twice. I look absolutely ridiculous. AIBU to refuse to wear the uniform? They have told me they don’t do extra small

@Hahaha88 do you know what I have better things to do than come on MN and make up I have an extra large ridiculously big uniform. I’d just wear it?

Tie the t-shirt-polo with a hairband at the back and fold underneath so it’s a better length. But do it after they’ve seen how big it is tomorrow!

If you don't need to "provide evidence" I don't need to see it before saying yanbu.

I work in a hospital and we have a sewing / uniform room , the staff there are always altering uniforms .

Plus I'm not saying it's not large or you're making it all up. Just it seems very unlikely a small uniform is so huge you couldn't possibly wear it

Well to be fair you did say you weren't going to wear it OP.

Does the polo need to be tucked in? Lop the bottom off and just quick hem round for tomorrow.

I suppose you have checked the actual measurements in case the wrong size label has been sewn in?

I'd wash it on hottest and then dry it on hottest.

It's not fair if they do XL & XXL but not XS really is it.

@TSSDNCOP well I was mortified at first, I’ve calmed down now it’s still ridiculous though.
I’m going to get it altered if they can’t swap it

Measure the bust and length, then ask them what spec the polo shirt should be? Or check label it could be labelled wrong.

Can you just turn up in your own clothes? Something smart like plain black trousers and a plain shirt and jacket? Put the uniform in a bag and take it with you. When you get there, pull the uniform out of the bag and tell them you think they've sent the wrong size. I'm sure they'll be more embarrassed than you.

Surely it's a Large, incorrectly labelled as Small.

how about a belt on the polo shirt, so it's more of a dress?

Obvious question but have you checked you've actually been given a small?

Just turn up wearing it (and have another top in your bag in case they let you change). The only thing that's going to make them do anything about it is if they see you in it.

See if there's anyone the roughly the same size as you and see how they're managing it, or if they've been given a more appropriately sized uniform.

@TellMeWhoTheVilliansAre yep! @ ive checked with my partners medium polo shirt he wears for work (he’s an electrician) and it’s only a tiny bit smaller!

I always have to take in uniforms. It’s a ‘perk’ to being small.

This doesn't sound right... my guess is you've got a dodgy batch or a men's small uniform.

Wear it tomorrow and show them it's too big.
