This is lighthearted!

People that don't cut toast or sandwiches In half to eat them! Drives me mad.

It makes me really annoyed in Greggs when they don't cut my toastie in half. I mean what do they think I am? A bloody animal?

maddiemookins16mum · 14/11/2019 19:51

I never cut toast. I also eat it almost cold and spread thick butter (proper butter no marg shite) on it.

kennycat · 14/11/2019 20:07

I agree OP, it's just plain weird. And how do you feel about people who eat the slice from the middle rather than from a corner? I shudder when I see such behaviour. Utter heathens.

mommybunny · 14/11/2019 20:54

My late MIL used to do the buttering-and-fine-slicing thing with a loaf of bread and I agree it was a thing of awe and wonder.

So I don’t know how the hell she brought up her DS who can’t butter toast to save his life: he just slaps whatever he has on his knife on the bread and, look away now if you find this potentially traumatic, I really mean it, I’m giving the last warning, he doesn’t spread it around the bread.Shock He just leaves globs of butter in random places around the bread, with some bits without any butter at all. I think when I married him I thought I could change him but we all know it never works. I just have to make sure he’s never allowed anywhere near my toast.

As for pizza folding, if you get a proper slice in New York it’s obligatory. I’m a native New Yorker myself and my god do I miss proper fresh hot NY slices with the cheese running off and leaving pools of grease on the paper plate. It’s to late night drinkers what kebabs are here, but much higher in calcium Grin.

Are Greg's pasties nice 🤷‍♂️. OK I'm going to say it, I was brought up to put a smudge of butter on toasted cheese. Is that just me???

Commonwasher · 14/11/2019 22:36

‘Fillet of toast’ Grin I salute you!

My MIL cuts crumpets in half Hmm I do not salute her for that...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/11/2019 23:20

As long as you enjoy your snack it really doesn't matter

WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT!!!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/11/2019 23:23

People who say sangwich instead of sandwich drive me mad!

I agree strangestthing

The correct pronunciation is, of course, "sammich"

My gran did that as well, maybe it was proper bread in those days. And a landlady I had, who had one arm, also did it, but suppose no option. She was amazing, she even rode a bike, but couldn't slice runner beans. Sorry, missing the point

MsMellivora · 15/11/2019 08:41

One of my colleagues used to bring in cold toast in a zip lock bag as a hang over cure. It would be eaten at least 1.5 to 2 hours after it had been made and buttered.

Verylucky2 · 15/11/2019 10:34

I must admit that with a tall loaf of bread I have been known to cut it in half before it goes into the toaster so that you're not left with the top being un-toasted, which I hate with a passion.

Verylucky2 · 15/11/2019 10:36

I still think eating a burger with a knife and fork (like my oh does) is much weirder though.Confused

thenightsky · 15/11/2019 12:17

I eat a burger with a knife and fork if I'm in a reasonably smart restaurant. I'd use my hands in Burger King type places though.
