This is lighthearted!

People that don't cut toast or sandwiches In half to eat them! Drives me mad.

Just saying.

I was going to have soup for lunch, but now want a toastie.

Buggerit! (Sooo much work . . . ) Sad

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2019 12:30

And I cut mine into FOUR!

The way God intended.

Sallyseagull · 13/11/2019 12:30

I can never be bothered to cut my toast. Always cut a sandwich but just for the pure reason that my filling would fall out otherwise.

BillHadersNewWife · 13/11/2019 12:32

My Mil's version of a banana sandwich is to place a whole peeled banana on a slice of plain bread and wrap it round...like some fruity, confused hotdog!

It's an abomination!

Doubleraspberry · 13/11/2019 12:32

We’ve had a panini press for ages (thanks, Lidl) and I had to go and buy a proper Breville recently as I just missed decent toasties with pockets too much. The kids now demand my toasties rather than the flat abominations of the press. They don’t sever the sandwich but they shape it into two halves.

petrocellihouse · 13/11/2019 12:33

I must fess up to not only cutting my burgers in half but eating them with a knife and fork as well... Dead posh me! Wink

WTF!! That's the worst MIL crime I've heard on AIBU!

I cannot STAND people that don’t cut sandwiches. It gives me a weird inner rage and I don’t know why Grin

Toast I’m fine with, often eat it whole. But sandwiches?! NO.

Doubleraspberry · 13/11/2019 12:35

I was contemplating making myself a burger for lunch with proper orange burger cheese and burger sauce but now I think I might have a burger toastie instead. I am feeding a cold.

TheMustressMhor · 13/11/2019 12:35

@MikeUniformMike

Ha!

A pedant has arrived on this important, light-hearted thread.

In fact I see three pedants, including my good self.

OP - obviously toast and sandwiches should be cut prior to consumption.

My Barbara Cartland Etiquette Book says so.

BillHadersNewWife · 13/11/2019 12:37

Spangly she also SLICES butter. She keeps it in the fridge and when she wants some, she cuts a thin slice and places it atop the bread or toast! Like cheese! Grin I love her but she's weird!

TheMustressMhor · 13/11/2019 12:37

@Doubleraspberry

May I suggest that you add a whole banana to this tasty lunch.

ChateauneufDuTwat · 13/11/2019 12:37

I dip my toast in my tea before eating......................

MustardScreams · 13/11/2019 12:38

This is lighthearted!

And this is light-hearted.

MrsSpenserGregson · 13/11/2019 12:40

Where do we all stand on folded pizza?

Not calzone, but cutting (or tearing!) a slice of ordinary round pizza, then folding it lengthways down the middle so the tomato doesn't slop all over the sides before it gets into your mouth ...??

There are probably people on this thread who just pick up the whole pizza and eat it as-is. Hands up if you do this?!

TheMustressMhor · 13/11/2019 12:40

BillHader, I also slice butter and place it on to toast.

this may be why I weigh rather more than is good for me

TheMustressMhor · 13/11/2019 12:42

MrsSpenserGregson

How can we put our hands up on an internet forum?

Mind you, I have seen DS trying to stuff a whole pizza in, in one go.

He nearly succeeded.

Loyaultemelie · 13/11/2019 12:42

Dd1 doesn't cut her toast, it makes me cringe and mutter under my breath. She once made some for dd2 (age 4) uncut. The meltdown was EPIC and I agreed with every word scream Grin

JellyfishAndShells · 13/11/2019 12:44

How do you eat an uncut sandwich , I mean a standard square loaf size - sort of launch yourself at one of the sides then keep eating inwards, or bite along, mouth organ style ?

I have quite a small mouth so can’t get to grips with the concept of a whole sandwich at my lips.

And diagonal only

Ponoka7 · 13/11/2019 12:45

I rarely eat bread, but when I do eat toast, I like jam on it and eating it uncut, so it's messy.

I also commit the sin of dipping my crusts in my (black) tea.

Ponoka7 · 13/11/2019 12:46

JellyfishAndShells, I'd start at a corner, go down the the crusts and then eat inwards.

Doubleraspberry · 13/11/2019 12:47

@TheMustressMhor I am not Elvis.

DH is another butter slicer.

toomuchtooold · 13/11/2019 12:49

Once I made my dad a sandwich and I cut it on the diagonal and he was like "ooh, posh!" and I thought this is what is fucking wrong with being working class.

grandmasterstitch · 13/11/2019 12:50

I used to work in a boarding school with teenagers and they had toast in the evening (they got it themselves) I never saw anyone cut it. I was sent down to work with the prep school one evening and we had to do their toast and I got told off for not cutting it. TLDR I don't cut toast
