This is lighthearted!

People that don't cut toast or sandwiches In half to eat them! Drives me mad.

Just saying.

I am a freak. It will ruin my toast experience if its cut in anyway shape or form. I will proper take the hump and no longer want said toast.

I like to eat all the crust and work my way In.

Freak.

Sandwiches am not arsed, thou if on a picnic the MUST be cut into 4 triangles. Its the law.

JavaQ · 13/11/2019 17:48

Nigella says to "apply to face". This is easier if not cut.

Verylucky2 · 13/11/2019 18:17

My other half eats his burger with a knife and fork, but leaves his sandwiches uncut (and open!). I'm surprised I've let him live, tbh! AngryGrin

Verylucky2 · 13/11/2019 18:18

He doesn't cut his toast in half either

nicky7654 · 13/11/2019 18:59

My son's 'toast' is basically warm bread and that drives me nuts!

Mine too. Anything more than a vague wave at the grill and it's burned for me.

Myshitisreal · 13/11/2019 19:12

@rosegoldivy we're fairly similar 👍. I also go as far as to say no toppings must be placed ON the toast. I can't bear soggy food or toast 😂 I like beans or scrambled eggs well on the side not touching the toast or in a little bowl to be safe. I like the toast to maintain its crisp like texture until the last possible minute 🤤

Squigean · 13/11/2019 19:17

There's some odd folk on this thread. Admitting things that shouldn't be admitted in public.

You know what's the most sicko thing I've ever seen? And I'm.sorry to bring this image into your mind's eye:

Eating a Kitkat whole, without breaking the fingers of and eating individually.

The boy who used to be my son did this. Tried to tell me it was because he was 'just 8' and 'didn't realise'. Pfft.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2019 21:18

Age is no excuse Squigean.

Some things can never be overlooked, no matter how much you love the offender.

I assume you sent him to a secure psychiatric unit - for his own good, obviously

spanglydangly · 13/11/2019 21:28

@Squigean well done, you took the right stand, tough but fair.

Homemade sandwiches I cut into quarters (sometimes square, sometimes triangular.) (My mother was appalled and used to say that "proper" sandwiches should be only cut in half across the middle. Cutting diagonally or into quarters was "trying to put on airs".)

I maintain that a sandwich cut into quarters actually tastes better than one uncut or cut in half. Though I don't have a theory as to why.

When I buy shop-made sandwiches they're already cut diagonally...so each half needs to be put on to a plate, (opened and the contents rearranged so that they are evenly spread and not all on the front edge!), and then the half sandwich should be cut into three equal pieces (and the middle piece eaten last.)

rosegoldivy · 13/11/2019 22:15

@myshitisreal we are one!!! On holiday I will order beans and toast but on separate plates, someone once referred to bean juice as bean sweat and since then I can't let bean sweat touch my toast, even thinking of it gives me the heebie jeebies..... I mean am happy to spoon the beans on my toast when I'm good and ready.... But not a min before.

These animals who get beans and toast and just plot all the beans in the middle of the toast on a plate.... Fucking madness.

Blueuggboots · 13/11/2019 22:23

In half is fine......quarters? Why fucking bother......I hate quarters!!

kateandme · 13/11/2019 23:33

Will0wtree how do u cut the triangle into 3!?

Antigon · 13/11/2019 23:49

lighten up it did say "lighthearted" not everything has to be doom and gloom!

Would you like to hear all my problems? 🙄

Pretty obvious @eenymeenyminyme was being lighthearted. Badly done, OP.

lookatthebabypenguin · 14/11/2019 00:01

I quite like using toasted bread to make sandwiches in a packed lunch. But I don't like cold toast in any other circumstances.

PickAChew · 14/11/2019 00:03

Toast is most satisfying when you just fold it in half and tear it with your teeth.

Starksforthewin · 14/11/2019 00:15

I am another one who prefers cold toast.

Each slice cut into four triangles.

But wait for it, not cut with a knife, cut using kitchen scissors! So much less effort.

Sandwiches also cut into four, but usually using the bread knife.

I am personally astonished how some people live. 😂

Secretbadlife · 14/11/2019 00:21

Our toaster is so shite it's like eating half toast half bread but that's another story... Good reason to cut it in half. Don't like eating it one whole piece. Sometimes I even have marg on one side and jam on the other but don't tell anyone..... (reminds me of that band Half man half biscuit!) Grin

AFairlyHardAvocado · 14/11/2019 00:36

@00100001

my DS FOLDS his toast

He is clearly a psychopath, LTB.

JacksonPillock · 14/11/2019 00:55

If you can hold your whole sandwich without it falling apart, then you didn't put enough filling in it. Any decent sandwich gives you no choice but to cut it in half.

abitoflight · 14/11/2019 01:01

I fold buttered toast
I saw someone doing it years ago and it had never occurred to me
It's so so good

StrictlyNameChangin · 14/11/2019 01:28

Fillet of toast Grin

Theyre is nothing worse than somebody serving you cut bread or toast before it's been buttered. Surely everybody knows the correct way is to butter then slice?

spanglydangly · 14/11/2019 09:02

Reported! That type of talk has no place on mumsnet!

My dh makes his sandwiches by using 3 slices of bread adding his filling to each slice, and folding each in half. It does seem wrong somehow.
