Just seen, it Boris walking through an office and making a cup of tea while exchanging jolly convos with workers.

I have never ever seen such a pile of complete WANK in my life! And at 58, I've seen many political ads...

Honestly, do they think people are stupid or are they trying to throw the election?

insulting the intelligence of people who don’t agree with you isn’t a convincing argument.

We can;t put that cap on that bottle now, it has been used extensively on MN with statements of people easily led by propaganda to vote leave and turkeys voting for Christmas to voting tory.

The fact you seek out simplistic black and white situations is not me trying to make a convincing argument, just pointing out how political discourse has gone to shit.

So I haven’t seen the one news item you’re able to provide as evidence @CendrillonSings, whereas the examples to support my view go well into double figures over a period of weeks. And you wonder why I’m not convinced.

Considering you effectively called the BBC a tory mouthpiece shows you are not arguing in good faith, you still have failed to address my point and pretend you haven't seen anything whilst trying to shift the goalposts to a specific scenario.

This situation is not being the gotcha that you think it is.

CendrillonSings · 13/11/2019 21:39

You’re not convinced because Corbyn could empty his bladder on your living room carpet and you’d still pretend not to see it! Grin

Alsohuman · 13/11/2019 21:57

I didn’t effectively call the BBC a Tory mouthpiece, I did call it one. Follow Laura Kuenessburg on Twitter for a few days, then tell me it isn’t.

I’m no Corbyn fan, I’d be far happier if he weren’t the Labour leader but to say he disgraces himself every time he appears in public is frankly libellous.

Justanotherlurker · 13/11/2019 22:25

I bet you unironically try and call out others with a differing opinion as being easily led by propaganda. You have yet to address why the BBC has always been a mouthpiece or that the last labout goverment put the boot in and opened the gates to more Tory reform.

I’m no Corbyn fan, I’d be far happier if he weren’t the Labour leader but to say he disgraces himself every time he appears in public is frankly libellous.

If in doubt pretend your not a supporter, pretend you haven't seen any heckling and still try and shift the goalposts is nothing more than labour activists 101 who hasn't been fed the narrative to lines of attack.,

It's looking like I hit the nail on the head with you just reading the canary.

BMW6 · 13/11/2019 23:46

I'm a floating voter. I thought he came across very well, very "engaging" and am impressed that he did it in one continuous shot without autocue.
He's a naturally confident orator. He's very "chummy" on camera. Avuncular. Eccentric.and yes, Buffoonish, but in an endearing rather than alarming way.

But...... truthful? Integrity? Conviction?

No more (or less I have to say) than any other Politician.

I suspect he's Marmite. This GE will be very interesting.

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2019 00:07

Hmm. Corbyn was heckled by a cleric shown to be racist, homophobic and who did not get the support of his church. Johnson was heckled by NHS workers and people working to clear the flood waters.

HighNetGirth · 14/11/2019 00:18

As for Boris not knowing how to mop, is anyone actually surprised? Since when did he ever clean up after himself?

ArseDarkly · 14/11/2019 00:18

He's a naturally confident orator

Amazing how that word 'orator' sticks to him despite the fact he talks such dreadful slangy drivel.

People comparing him to Churchill ffs - in 50 years time when young folks are studying Brexit what fine oration will they discover? 'Oven ready, whack it in the microwave'. 'Knock the deal through' 'The country's going gangbusters'.

ArseDarkly · 14/11/2019 00:26

But...... truthful? Integrity? Conviction?

No more (or less I have to say) than any other Politician

This is part of the problem, people have lost perspective. He is far worse than most other politicians - corrupt, stupid, greedy, ruthless and on.

Alsohuman · 14/11/2019 00:47

He’s easily the worst PM in my lifetime and Churchill was in no 10 when I was born. I hated Thatcher but she didn’t lie and blunder from one crisis to another.

SeaOfDespair · 14/11/2019 01:02

Boris is appealing to the hardline nutters, of which there are a lot. I’m in an area where Labour dominates and I keep hearing people of a certain age saying how good Boris is. I keep hearing a very strange rumour that keeping in Boris will help improve the bus services. Considering they’ve been quite bad for about 3 or 4 months, since he’s been PM, how does that even make any sense?

Most of the local Tory talk revolves around kicking the immigrants out, whilst naming nationalities that aren’t in the EU, so how Brexit would help with that, I don’t know.

Dongdingdong · 14/11/2019 01:58

I haven’t noticed any coverage of any leader other than Johnson being heckled

There was footage of Jeremy Corbyn being heckled in Scotland and the Lib Dems being heckled in north London on tonight’s news at 10.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 14/11/2019 06:38

I am happy to agree that the bbc is a Tory mouthpiece. Their feature today showing Corbyn against a red, communist-style background, quoting a "long march" is revolting. The idea that a candidate to the British elections could or would want to bring about anything like communism is insane, deeply ignorant and an insult to the millions of people who suffered and died unnecessarily under communist and socialist regimes. I feel disgusted at the way words are thrown about by people who have no idea about meaning or consequences.

I think this thread shows that some of us have a fundamental distate for falsehood while others are more like "I like him, he comes across well" Hmm

For the record I have zero time for labour, I vote for a small regional party.

Charmlight · 14/11/2019 07:15

I agree with BMW6

noblegiraffe · 14/11/2019 07:52

If this were a relationships thread, people would be pointing out the massive obvious red flags. Which MP was it who said you wouldn’t want Boris to drive you home?

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2019 07:59

Yes- mumsnetters to a woman would be saying “When somebody tells you what he’s like, believe him!”

NameChangeNugget · 14/11/2019 08:04

The advert is obviously having some effect as a Conservative majority is now 13/8. A hung parliament was clear favourite last week.

Trewser · 14/11/2019 08:06

I like Boris and think he'll walk this election. Mainly because the alternatives are absolutely terrible. Smile

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2019 08:09

I hate it when people say “genuine question” but - genuine question. Do you actually like him, or do you just think he’s the leader most likely to get your party into power? I think if was a Tory I’d certainly think the latter. But I can’t imagine thinking the former!

Brefugee · 14/11/2019 08:16

Well the EU have slapped down the accession of Turkey joining the eu as it is considered a 'great threat', so there is a lot of nuance in that statement.

There is no nuance in what Johnson said at all. What he was saying was, in essence "Turkey are about to join the EU and that will bring all those foreigners to UK" and the EU slapped that statement down since Turkey are in no way at all about to join the EU and never have been.

Trewser · 14/11/2019 08:18

I actually quite like him! If I had to sit next to Jezza, Boris, Jo or Nichola at a dinner party it would be Boris all the way.

Trewser · 14/11/2019 08:27

Also the EU seem to quite like him.

Clavinova · 14/11/2019 08:32

Which MP was it who said you wouldn’t want Boris to drive you home?

It was Amber Rudd, but she started the sentence with; 'Boris is the life and soul of the party' - people warm to his positive outlook - on the other hand, socialists, communists and Marxists always look miserable.

Monsterinmyshoe · 14/11/2019 08:34

I just think all the political parties are trying to provide good material for when Spitting Image returns.

I'm surprised he knows how to make tea tbh.

noblegiraffe · 14/11/2019 08:40

Look miserable, but Amber Rudd isn’t warning you not to be alone with them. Really difficult to tell which is the more important character trait.
