Just seen, it Boris walking through an office and making a cup of tea while exchanging jolly convos with workers.

I have never ever seen such a pile of complete WANK in my life! And at 58, I've seen many political ads...

Honestly, do they think people are stupid or are they trying to throw the election?

OP posts:
Justanotherlurker · 12/11/2019 21:50

Boris is partly Turkish yet he played up the ‘great threat’ of Turkey joining EU in the ref campaign.

Well the EU have slapped down the accession of Turkey joining the eu as it is considered a 'great threat', so there is a lot of nuance in that statement.

CendrillonSings · 12/11/2019 21:51

He's made so many appalling remarks I don't know how people can even defend him anymore.

I guess in the same way Labour supporters pretend there’s no antisemitism in their party despite 3 of their parliamentary candidates having to step down in the last fews days because of their ... antisemitism.

Merename · 12/11/2019 21:53

What a fanny! I’m actually embarrassed for those of you coming on here to say he’s great and played a blinder. I honestly have never met a real person who would admit they think such a thing. Especially disturbing when he talks about compassion and great public services. When his parties policies are literally killing people.

Palegreenstars · 12/11/2019 21:54

@Justanotherlurker it’s the conservatives that are trying to make this a simple issue and it’s very effective (if inaccurate) in that video.

I always think a sure sign you are on the ‘side of intellect’ is when the big focus of your debate is calling someone else dumb. So well done.

Justanotherlurker · 12/11/2019 21:54

Lol. The old some-of-my-best-friends-are-black defence. With their watermelon smiles.

Such a simplistic take, I bet you argue the nuance on to why Corbyn is not considered anti-Semitic, political discussion has been ruined with the advent of social media

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/11/2019 21:56

Well the EU have slapped down the accession of Turkey joining the eu as it is considered a 'great threat', so there is a lot of nuance in that statement.

The only nuance was the dog whistle in the Brexit campain poster.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/11/2019 21:59

political discussion has been ruined with the advent of social media

and yet it proved so succesful for the leave campaign. Reap what you sow.

coreyp · 12/11/2019 22:01

It's on Daily Wail website.
"Interviewer" has northern accent.
"Fish & chips or Sunday roast"? Ah come off it. He'd be kicking back with cigar & bourbon, surely.
Where was this filmed? Somewhere with lots of hotdesking judging by the lockers. Anyone notice the complete lack of movement by the 'workers' at the desks. Like they were glued manequins...
Chips... chips... chips.
I counted 10 x "20,000 more police officers!" posters.
I am shocked, I tell you SHOCKED that BJ is a tea not coffee drinker. No sugar, mind.

theduchessstill · 12/11/2019 22:04

Lurker those links, as you know, are years old. Of course there are Eurosceptics on the left and, yes, JC is one of them. But that is largely irrelevant now as the Brexit cause has certainly been hijacked by the (far) right even if they weren't the only ones to have started it. That much has certainly been proved by the stitch-up between the ERG side of the Cons and Farage this week, egged on by Aaron Banks, who still isn't satisfied and wants Farage to stand down candidates in all but a handful of seats now. Anyone who thinks a Tory majority next month is going to be anything other than a disaster for ordinary/vulnerable/working/ disadvantaged people is deluded. And the fact that there is a leftist case for Brexit and that many Labour supporters voted for it has absolutely no bearing on that whatsoever. Such people will be royally fucked by BJ if he gets the majority he wants.

To answer the OP that video is an absolute disgrace and anyone who is undecided and decides to vote Tory having watched that can't be over-burdened in the brains department.

ArseDarkly · 12/11/2019 22:06

and yet it proved so successful for the leave campaign

With a little extra help...

No it isn't, labour have spent the last few years trying to make it a simplistic left v right issue, they have even resorted to the tired meme of 24 hours to save the NHS, both sides are playing games hence the labour amplify groups that are flooding forums under the guise of faux concern.

I always think a sure sign you are on the ‘side of intellect’ is when the big focus of your debate is calling someone else dumb. So well done.

So vocal remainers in a nutshell then, I'm glad you agree. I bet you are one who has never called anyone thick/uneducated/voting for Christmas and think you are trying to score points against me, ignoring why labour are in a current shit show of having a life long euroscpetic as leader and still pretend you support the working class strong holds who voted leave.

I'm an proud neolib remainer by the way, so you can't pull the daily mail crap on me.

ContinuityError · 12/11/2019 22:06

political discussion has been ruined with the advent of social media

Wouldn’t it be great to see what the Intelligence and Security Committee report actually says so that the electorate actually knows what is being promoted on social media?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 12/11/2019 22:06

I'd call it laughable but it's not remotely funny.

I can't understand how anyone with a brain cell can say anything positive about him.

MissingLinker · 12/11/2019 22:08

That was awful. I doubt it will convince people to vote for them, I struggle to see who it could possibly appeal to. But those who already support him will lap it up.

Jux · 12/11/2019 22:09

I did think it was a spoof for quite a while, then I hoped it was a spoof.....

Hilarious and excruciatingly embarrassing in equal measure.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/11/2019 22:12

they have even resorted to the tired meme of 24 hours to save the NHS

highlighting staff shortages and the creeping privitisation is a real meme isn't it?

labour amplify groups that are flooding forums under the guise of faux concern.

Should we just be quiet about the universal credit, the food banks, windrush. Would that be better?

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 12/11/2019 22:16

Is this the latest thread where we jump into the labour amplify social media policy, it's following the script that has been handed down by momentum hq

Oh for pitys sake

It does not make me a labour supporter if i dont like a tory political broadcast

I much prefer hearing what the party will do for the country rather than if the leader likes marmite or not

Ridiculous

Chattybum · 12/11/2019 22:17

Yaaawwnnn. Let's just see what the vote turns up shall we? I personally think people would rather have Bumbling Boris then The Crusty Communist. At least Boris knows how to take the piss out of himself.

Xenia · 12/11/2019 22:22

The British people are sensible. They will not be keen to give Corbyn the keys for No. 10 and they ahve nto voted in a Labour Government since 2005. I am sure their good sense will prevail.

I don't mind if any side makes their own comments. We are all feel to give our own views .

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 12/11/2019 22:22

Such a simplistic take, I bet you argue the nuance on to why Corbyn is not considered anti-Semitic

I can think Corbyn is antisemetic and johnson is racist AT THE SAME TIME

Fucking awesome multi tasking

JimmyGrimble · 12/11/2019 22:22

Not as well as he knows how to take the piss out of the electorate.

Palegreenstars · 12/11/2019 22:27

@Justanotherlurker yes, on that campaign video it is. Chaos with anything but conservatives is a complete over simplification.

I’m not massively interested in your politics. Your debate appears to be ‘everyone is dumb but me’ because you remember a manifesto from over a decade ago (sort of) which is not exactly a revolutionary approach but rarely effective.

Rather than troll hunting - I think that’s what you are trying to do anyway - and point scoring. Why not focus on the actual thread topic.

(Running count of insults: dumb, faux concern for leavers, labour troll, point scorer).

HotSince82 · 12/11/2019 22:33

The only people he is convincing further is those who have already bought in to his bumblimg, affable, pseudo-dimwitted persona. To those he has, undoubtedly 'played a blinder' by reinforcing their opinions and making them feel reassured of their disecernment.

Smoke and mirrors which tell the electorate what they want to hear is preferable to actual facts to lots of people.

Boris knows this. Precisely because he is the polar opposite of his public persona.

If you see through his tactics, it wasn't you whom he was hoping to convince in any case.

Alsohuman · 12/11/2019 22:34

I give it 2 weeks before there are crys of Tory bots infiltrating MN without any sense of irony.

The bots arrived last week.

ContinuityError · 12/11/2019 22:34

Fucking awesome multi tasking

You could possibly add some worries about “being woke” to include both the Lib Dems and the Greens to call bingo?
