Am I being unreasonable to take my burley neighbour up on his offer to lift and shove this car 3m down the road, so that I can at least access the left hand side of my drive?! It's been there since 1pm yesterday...

It is possible the police contacted the owner and advised him to shift it pronto. Hopefully that will be the end of that.

Lweji · 13/11/2019 07:47

I hope the police found the owner and forced him to tax it and insure it first.

Tessabelle74 · 13/11/2019 17:35

I'd be tempted to help the neighbour tip it onto its roof like a turtle

FelicisNox · 13/11/2019 18:21

YANBU... get to shoving!

dementedpixie · 13/11/2019 18:27

The car has gone

mrscolonelbrandon · 13/11/2019 18:37

Obviously has the new style of driving licence which allows parking across others drives, two spaces, up against other drivers’ door so they can’t get in or my absolute favourite approval to drive out from behind buses, Lorries, parked cars, etc into oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road because being stuck behind cars, lorries, etc, etc is an inconveniece and if the cars that have almost been smashed into through no fault of their own so much as bleat or beep they get sworn at either verbally or through hand gestures because how dare anyone stand up against twonk driving!

Zeezee82 · 13/11/2019 18:38

Do your local police have a Facebook page? It gets a quicker response than other channels. A car moved in less than 24 hours in 2 cases I know of (in 2 different areas)

Ated · 13/11/2019 18:44

Check online to see if it is insured--www.gov.uk/browse/driving/vehicle-tax-mot-insurance
Check the registration here and report it.
Or you could break a window, release the handbrake and push it into the middle of the road, let the tyres down and report it at the same time. If you phone the DVLA they may give you the owners address as well if you tell them it has been there for days and preventing you from getting out.

Spitsandspots · 13/11/2019 18:46

Update!!!! It's gone!

See op Tues 12 th update at 20:07

Maursh · 13/11/2019 18:49

Take your two cars and park one at each end so they cant get out 😄

Lweji · 13/11/2019 18:53

People, the car has been driven.

(This is going to be the new the cheque has been cashed, isn't it?)

Catsinthecupboard · 13/11/2019 19:11

As mother of former "spotty teenagers" just let ot go. Your dc will be teens someday and you'll be grateful that you have good karma by being kind and looking the other way.

Esspee · 13/11/2019 22:37

Catsinthecupboard you can't be serious. Nobody should look the other way when the law is being broken. Untaxed vehicles are normally uninsured too.

GiantKitten · 13/11/2019 22:56

we had a damaged untaxed un-MOTed car parked across from us for aaages. Reported it but it still took a long time for it to disappear. (Not blocking anyone's drive, just taking up 2 spaces on a street that never has enough.)

We've now had a big high Transit van in nearly the same place for 4 months, but it is taxed & MOTed, so nobody will do anything Angry

Some people are just selfish.

AdobeWanKenobi · 13/11/2019 23:10

As the mother of two former un spotty teens don't you fucking dare let it go. Untaxed cars will likely be uninsured. Rather than letting It go try teaching them a little responsibility and have a little good karma in the form of taking a bloody feckless idiot off the roads.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 13/11/2019 23:40

of course move it

Dogdogcat · 13/11/2019 23:50

This is happening right now in front of my driveway. Amazon delivery man dropped off a package about 3 hours ago and it stalled in front of my car. He said he called a tow truck, which was supposed to be about an hour, still not here. His daughter came to pick him up so he could deliver more packages! I'm supposed to go out when DH gets in, I'll probably have to take his car, which he won't be happy about as I'll be using his petrol Grin

manicmij · 14/11/2019 00:28

If it's not taxed and is on the roadway it's an offence. Report it, could it be abandoned ir even stolen. Not sure if it is an offence to stop someone accessing their driveway, runs in my head its only if you are blocked in. Your eighbour is being very generous offering to move it, would accept the offer.

Clangus00 · 14/11/2019 06:32

I really wish people would actually RTFT!
Car has been gone since Tuesday evening!

cornonthecobweb · 14/11/2019 22:04

@Dogdogcat where do you live?? Can't quite work it out from your pic

Dogdogcat · 14/11/2019 22:08

@cornonthecobweb I'm in Canada.

GeorgiaLove · 16/11/2019 15:50

If it comes back, burn it.

mrssoap · 16/11/2019 15:56

What a knob! Yeah id be inclined to get someone to move it!

dementedpixie · 16/11/2019 16:50

@mrssoap the car left on the 12th so there is nothing to move now

73Sunglasslover · 16/11/2019 19:05

No, this could have repercussions for neighbor as it is illegal I think even though they should not have parked there. Can you report it to the council and get it towed? also much more of an effective message to the owners.
