Am I being unreasonable to take my burley neighbour up on his offer to lift and shove this car 3m down the road, so that I can at least access the left hand side of my drive?! It's been there since 1pm yesterday...

Putting it on FixMyStreet might get it shifted too. Especially if someone knows who owns it.

TheReluctantCountess · 12/11/2019 17:16

It shouldn’t be parked there as it is blocking a dropped curb. I’m glad you’ve reported it. And yes, take your neighbour’s offer up!

iolaus · 12/11/2019 17:18

As it's parked infront of a dropped kerb and is untaxed you could probably get it towed away

But if the neighbour is willing then go for it

Cherrysoup · 12/11/2019 17:21

Get it shoved and take pictures!! 😂

RavenLG · 12/11/2019 17:22

Do it! This guy did Grin

Igotmylipstickon · 12/11/2019 17:23

This has happened to me - a car parked across my driveway for hours. I called the police and they came around and towed it within a few hours. Whether or not it was taxed was irrelevant, however this was not in the UK. Turns out the car had been robbed and dumped there. Of course I don't know if the laws in the UK are the same.

Lweji · 12/11/2019 17:25

she said if it's not gone in the next few days they'll try to contact the owner, if no luck they'll tow it.

Next few days???!!! (see image)

Park your car over the non-dropped kerb, then report as being unable to leave drive.

On a side note: 50/50 is 100%, 50-50 is 50%. Grin

Give it a shove

isspacethefinalfrontier · 12/11/2019 17:27

The process is: Call the non emergency police. If they have a contact number they will call the owner (they have never failed to get a number so far) Did they offer to do this when you called?

We do this regularly on our road.

Lweji · 12/11/2019 17:27

Forgot to add YANBU to move it.

And I agree middle of the road, although that might be illegal.

dementedpixie · 12/11/2019 17:29

When we reported one across our drive to 101 they got in touch with owner who was driving a taxi 30 miles away and he had to come back and move it. It was all done within a few hours

dementedpixie · 12/11/2019 17:32

This was ours. The second picture shows the huge gap behind him that he could have parked in

I was concerned I would get into trouble if the car owner noticed? Surely it is reasonable to assume it has been abandoned since it isn’t parked but illegally dumped in such an inconsiderate place without tax. Halo

bloodywhitecat · 12/11/2019 17:38

@dementedpixie Not only is that selfish parking but did the driver get a taxi to the kerb?

OP - Get your neighbour to shift it.

bornonasunday · 12/11/2019 17:39

We had this happen to us, years ago, some git left a car across our garage access... unfortunately for them, my brother worked at a boat marina and came home that day in the huge truck they used for pulling boats out of the water...
Not only did he shift the car in literally seconds, he left it skew-whiff in the middle of a junction!
It was rapidly towed away by the Police!😁
Same thing happened to a guy in the next road... he got his mates round and they pushed the offending car into the middle of the road.. sideways
That soon got towed as well!
OP - let your neighbour shift it... sit back and enjoy👍

Span1elsRock · 12/11/2019 17:39

It's probably been dumped OP.

Have you tried to open the doors? If it is locked, then yes bump it down the road.

lms2017 · 12/11/2019 17:41

I would wrap it in clingfilm and anything else suitably annoying then hook it up on toe bar and pull it out the way!

Alternatively mention you thought you saw someone put a body shaped package in the boot ! Or a gun that should get a swift response lol x

Elieza · 12/11/2019 17:41

It’s illegal to move the car as it’s not yours. Phone the police. That’s the kind of thing they deal with as they can contact the owner. If nothing happens though I’d be tempted to move it! But I’d do phone the non emergency police number first.

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/11/2019 17:43

Yes, definitely shift it. Idiotic parking. Highly inconsiderate.

Majorcollywobble · 12/11/2019 17:43

When this happened in our street a very burly chap we know decided to flip it over ! Wouldn’t recommend that but a little push wouldn’t come amiss ? As long as everyone acts innocently............

YoungHun · 12/11/2019 17:46

Yup def let your neighbour move it!!

Rosebel · 12/11/2019 17:47

Bump it by all means, I would but honestly don't expect anything to happen about it being untaxed. We've reported a few cars on our road. It took six months before they were finally moved!

Hiphop2 · 12/11/2019 17:50

Yes let your neighbour move it. Then when it’s been moved, let down two tyres. One is just a minor inconvenience if they have a spare, two will require rescuing!

whatsleep · 12/11/2019 17:51

Please post a picture of it, preferably left in the middle of the road 😬

Beveren · 12/11/2019 17:53

I was concerned I would get into trouble if the car owner noticed?! Maybe I'm being a wimp. Will give it until tomorrow

Somehow, I can't see the owner of an untaxed illegally parked car wanting to draw the police's attention.
