Am I being unreasonable to take my burley neighbour up on his offer to lift and shove this car 3m down the road, so that I can at least access the left hand side of my drive?! It's been there since 1pm yesterday...

Definitely get him to move it. If you report it as untaxed they will clamp it where it is and you'll be stuck with it there for another week until they tow it away (if unpaid fine). Same happened opposite my drive with a knobhead who doesn't even live on the street. He's now parking his new bag of shit car in the same place Angry.

It's only illegally parked if they blocked you while you're parked ON your drive, it's not illegal for them to block an empty drive - I have a similar issue constantly where I live and it infuriates me. I've prayed for a burley neighbour to move in and be able to move vehicles for me, so I hope you take advantage of his offer! Grin.

Snowpatrolling · 12/11/2019 17:57

You won’t get into trouble for moving it, because your not moving it! And if anyone asks you dont know who did either!!! Wink

yellowallpaper · 12/11/2019 17:59

It isn't illegal to obstruct a dropped kerb unless a car is in the driveway already. If there is then they are causing an obstruction and that is. Untaxed definitely illegal. I wouldn't like my neighbour to injure himself or cause a dent in the car which is then criminal damage.

dementedpixie · 12/11/2019 18:00

I dont think this is true if its obstructing a dropped kerb

Flavarings · 12/11/2019 18:03

Get him to move it OP! Then film the buggers confused face when they realise the cars been moved!

yellowallpaper · 12/11/2019 18:05

The blocking off your driveway issue is a matter for the local council rules. Some council by laws say it's illegal and some say only if it's blocking a car in. Maybe check local by laws. It's different all over the country. Eg. ..You can't park on the pavement at all in London but most local councils allow it.

Poppyfr33 · 12/11/2019 18:07

When this happened to us, partner had got home from work and couldn’t park on drive so he parked up to the car to ensure he couldn’t move [he had parked up to bumper oh neighbour car]. Car owner across the road visiting a friend, he never knocked on our door just sat in his car for 30 minutes till partner went and moved his car. Never happened again

Indecisivelurcher · 12/11/2019 18:08

If my burly neighbour shoved it the other way, he could push it onto the double yellows...

WoollyMollyMonkey · 12/11/2019 18:14

Yes yes yes, shove it on the double yellows, or out into the road then phone the police about an abandoned car in the middle of the road causing an obstruction.

Clangus00 · 12/11/2019 18:14

Oh DEFINITELY get him to push it onto the double yellows!!!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 12/11/2019 18:14

Same happened to me yesterday! Is it International Park Like A Cock week?!

I was outraged so got one neighbour to park behind them and I parked in front. Their face was a picture when they came back. I made them wait until I was going out anyway.

PrettyPurse · 12/11/2019 18:23

Oh for goodness sake @Indecisivelurcher get on with it!!! Put us all out of our misery!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 12/11/2019 18:24

Yes to the double yellows!

mumof2masterofnone · 12/11/2019 18:24

God I hate it when someone parks infront of my drives!

You're lucky you have a neighbour willing to help you out! Take him up on the offer.

My neighbour actively tells her friends and family to park infront of my drives 'as there's more space' Hmm I went a little crazy last time as I actually caught them parking up and they didn't know where to look when they realised they had been caught.
They stammered 'oh we're just popping in, you can knock if you want us to move' .....I probably went OTT in my reaction but I had a 6 week old and was a big highly strung.

IndieTara · 12/11/2019 18:24

Do it do it

Indecisivelurcher · 12/11/2019 18:25

Ha ha ha sorry, there won't be any action this end until tomorrow at the earliest, better give the local police the chance to actually ring back 😂👮

Ps have you not seen my user name?! I am not a decisive lurcher... (what lurcher is?!)

OP posts:
mumof2masterofnone · 12/11/2019 18:26

I'd at least block it in then so it can't move before the police take action!

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/11/2019 18:31

I was about to ask what kind of bellend does this, but I’m guessing the kind who doesn’t tax, or presumably insure his car also!

bluebeck · 12/11/2019 18:36

Is it awful of me to hope the car isn't moved by owner between now and tomorrow? Grin

EL8888 · 12/11/2019 18:43

Another vote for a push. Onto the double yellow lines. Totally obnoxious parking

BradTomby · 12/11/2019 18:55

Get it pushed onto the double yellows Grin

Never had a lurcher so cannot comment if they are decisive or not Grin

littlehappyhippo · 12/11/2019 19:00

Defo push on the double yellows haha Grin

littlehappyhippo · 12/11/2019 19:00

@Indecisivelurcher

I've had a word with my brothers.

D'ya want me to send them around to your house to wait for the owner of the car when they turn up? They'll have a word with them, and will ensure they don't do it again. Grin
