Am I being unreasonable to take my burley neighbour up on his offer to lift and shove this car 3m down the road, so that I can at least access the left hand side of my drive?! It's been there since 1pm yesterday...

Bump it.
Then report it as untaxed and abandoned, but bump it first.

Apolloanddaphne · 12/11/2019 16:56

Report it as an abandoned untaxed car.

RatherBeRiding · 12/11/2019 16:56

Do you even need to ask? Take him up on his offer pronto, and if you are sure the car is untaxed, ring the police!

And absolutely do not let the tyres down once it's been moved - that would be so inconsiderate! Oh, wait........

Indecisivelurcher · 12/11/2019 16:56

I've reported it via the local police, she said if it's not gone in the next few days they'll try to contact the owner, if no luck they'll tow it.

Reminds of the Friends episode. Lift and Slide. Lift and Slide.

Got to love a parking thread 😁

i know, best stupid parking i've seen!

BritInUS1 · 12/11/2019 16:58

Did you tell the police it was also blocking your drive?

randomchap · 12/11/2019 16:58

Definitely move it.

Then report back on their response.

Jaxhog · 12/11/2019 16:59

Call the police (101). It's illegal to block a dropped curb.

How do you know it's untaxed?

Abraid2 · 12/11/2019 17:00

Please do this.

purpleboy · 12/11/2019 17:00

This is like the other parking thread! That poor lady has had the same problem for the past couple of months! Can you block in the car from the front and back. That will piss them off if they can't move it!

NamechangeWhatFor · 12/11/2019 17:01

If it's untaxed on a public road they should come and remove it, not wait and see!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/11/2019 17:01

Could you nose your car / someone elses small car round it and park on your drive?

Then you can report it for blocking you ON your drive AND for being untaxed. Admittedly the untaxed bit is the only thing that will get a response.. but pile it on whilst you can!

Report it now. Take pictures of it on the public highway and report it as an untaxed vehicle - I am guessing youhave already been here, but here's the link anyway!

www.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle

Contact you local PCSO too, you never know how hepful they can be with such stuff, it differs from force to force!

Indecisivelurcher · 12/11/2019 17:01

@jax you just have to put the reg into a page on the gov.uk website.

stucknoue · 12/11/2019 17:03

If it's untaxed the police/council will send a tow truck

onanothertrain · 12/11/2019 17:04

I don't think it is illegal to block a driveway. It is technically illegal to block access to the highway but seeing as there is no car on the driveway that's not the case here. I agree it's a shitty place to park though and you can report for not being taxed

Indecisivelurcher · 12/11/2019 17:04

Untaxed since 1 Aug.

I'm genuinely surprised there is a unanimous verdict to give it a shove!!!!! I was concerned I would get into trouble if the car owner noticed?! Maybe I'm being a wimp. Will give it until tomorrow...

Longdistance · 12/11/2019 17:06

If it’s untaxed get it towed. Inform DVLA, you can report.
If it doesn’t get moved soon I’m sure it’s wing mirrors, windscreen wipers and number plates will go missing and is then an abandoned vehicle.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 12/11/2019 17:08

YANBU to move it nor, in my opinion, would you be unreasonable to spray paint “INCONSIDERATE CUNT” across the windscreen.

GabriellaMontez · 12/11/2019 17:11

There is a car near me that has had big official 'untaxed ' stickers on its windscreen weeks. No sign of it being towed.

dementedpixie · 12/11/2019 17:12

It's illegal to obstruct a lowered kerb. It was 101 we called when someone did the same to ours

DontCallMeShitley · 12/11/2019 17:15

Another vote for give it a shove.

Around here we have to report to the council for abandoned cars.

MyKingdomForBrie · 12/11/2019 17:15

i was concerned I would get into trouble if the car owner noticed fuck that! It's untaxed and parked on a drop kerb, doubly illegal! Get rid.

grandmasterstitch · 12/11/2019 17:15

Get your neighbour to move! Ideally into the middle of the road
