I've eaten my 1200 cals. Done about 400 cals worth of exercise. Sitting here thinking about food. Help.

Brush your teeth or paint your nails!

Or a teaspoon of bovril in hot water is something like 12 calories (don’t quote me on that) and takes the edge off.

Or drink sparkling water.

caravanette · 11/11/2019 19:18

Stick with it !! Good luck and make sure you weigh weekly!!

Fizzypoo · 11/11/2019 19:19

I was going to start a diet today, I ended up eating toast for breakfast and fish cakes from the chip shop for tea Grin

Sicario · 11/11/2019 19:21

Don't. I'm on a low cholesterol diet and it's torture.

livingthegoodlife · 11/11/2019 19:22

Brushing your teeth is a great tip. Have a glass of water. Don't eat anything, you'll hate yourself.

Karwomannghia · 11/11/2019 19:23

It’s the hardest day.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:23

I've made myself a cup of decaff tea and I've cracked open half a tin of peaches. Once Only Connect starts I'll be fine.

I started a diet today! Need to shift the baby weight.....

I'm at 1114 calories, just had dinner and now having a cuppa and a lunchbox maltloaf bar thing. All logged!
Thought I'd feel hungrier, but it's not hit yet. Think it will tomorrow!

I'm trying not to eat my exercise calories though.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:25

I was trying not to eat exercise calories. I've somehow connected the Under armour app to my fitness pal. It has added 800 calories to my daily total!! No!! Go away!! I can't turn it off!

The 1200 calories is net not gross. So if you are definitely sure you burned 400 then you need to eat 1600 calories

Sassanacs · 11/11/2019 19:28

Do keto.. you'll lose weight and won't be hungry. Not to mention the many other benefits.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:28

I went for a 45 minute hilly walk and later a 25 minute jog. I'm sure that can't be 400 cals.

GrumpyHoonMain · 11/11/2019 19:29

By the way you aren’t supposed to go down to 1200 cals straight away because eventually your body will get used to such low calories (ie lower your metabolism), the weight loss will stall, and the only way you will be able to lose weight is to go even lower which is unsustainable in the long term. This is why fitbit and myfitnesspal recommend you track what you already eat for a few weeks and then reduce from that first and always eat back exercise calories. My weight loss cal intake (gross) is 1800 because I read the instructions

ShetlandWife · 11/11/2019 19:30

Avoid any carbonated drinks, even if it is water. The carbon dioxide being released in the stomach triggers grehlin release which makes you feel hungry.

Take up knitting maybe?

GrumpyHoonMain · 11/11/2019 19:30

I can walk 4 miles in 45 minutes and would burn approx 200-300 cals.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:30

Don't want to do keto - just want food I don't have to think about. I know it works, I did it a couple of years ago. Got really obsessive over it, lost a stone then piled it all back on.

I'm NOT eating bread this week though averts eyes from bread bin

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:33

GrumpyHoonMain I want to change it to 1400 cals but don't know how. I'm basically trying not to snack or eat toast.

I'm menopausal and cannot shift weight unless I am a bit serious about it.

OP posts:
GrumpyHoonMain · 11/11/2019 19:35

Eat it and I bet you will lose weight faster as your metabolism will increase. You also need to add in more weight bearing exercise. The hilly walk is good but I would add rowing / weight lifting too.

EssentialHummus · 11/11/2019 19:36

5:2er here. Brush your teeth and if possible keep tempting food out the house so you can’t get at it in the evenings.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:39

I can buy biscuits as I never crave them.

I'd like to do weights. I have a horse so I do quite a lot of heavy lifting. I'm not sure why I'm piling on weight tbh Sad

That's really interesting grumpy

Yanbu. I occasionally think I need to go on a diet. Day 1 and by lunchtime I am craving Cornish pasties - out of nowhere! I never eat Cornish pasties and yet thoughts of them somehow torment me whenever I try and lose some weight.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 19:42

Lol! That's what happens to me!

I've eaten the peaches and drunk the tea and I now feel full and a bit sick.

insanepizza · 11/11/2019 19:47

I am with grumpy, you can eat toast within two hours of a workout, especially if you do a HIT workout.

CalamityJune · 11/11/2019 19:49

Stay strong. This is exactly what I do- my resolve goes out of the window after about 5pm and all my hard work goes out the window. Don't be like me.
