I feel so tired all the time and I'm stuck between having some down time without the kids and sleep.

I have just been prescribed b12 due to low levels so maybe why I'm feeling so drained.

I have 2 children 1yo and 3yo and they go to bed around 7.30, after that I do a quick tidy up and settle down with dh to watch t.v. or something. We don't usually go to sleep till around 11. I really feel like those few hours to ourselves keep us sane and happy I like to have time without the kids just to relax and feel like getting an early night is losing out on that but I'm really considering settling to sleep about 9.30 as I'm just so tired and getting up is a killer.

We get up at 7 weekdays and 8ish weekends.
How much sleep do you need to feel refreshed?

Our 3yr old goes to bed between 6-7pm but he wakes every Morning before 6.
DH and I go to bed most Nights at 10pm, I'm currently Pregnant with DC2 so would probably go up earlier, but with DHs work schedule we'd then only get an hour together in the Evenings!

RichPetunia · 11/11/2019 17:08

At 9 o'clock it's like my internal body clock switches off, so usually in bed around that time and asleep by 9.30 - 10. Up like a lark though at 5-6.

CAG12 · 11/11/2019 17:12

Im 21 weeks pregnant. I go to sleep at about 10. Im tired beforehand but I find that if I go to bed any sooner I just sleep for a few hours then im restless all night long

Juanbablo · 11/11/2019 17:15

Usually asleep about 10. I'm 31, work part time and have 3 dcs who are 12, 9 and 5. They all sleep well these days. I get up at 6:30am. I do start to feel really tired by about 9 and go upstairs and watch tv or read in bed for a while before going to sleep.

PuppyMonkey · 11/11/2019 17:16

We have older kids who usually go to bed at 9.30. I go up to bed at 10-10.30 and read, usually asleep by 11pm. My Fitbit reckons I sleep well Grin, although I still feel knackered a lot of the time.

I think it’s the time of year tbh. We should be hibernating.

User1924 · 11/11/2019 17:18

My DS is in bed by 7.30 asleep by 8. I usually go up at 8 with a hot milky drink, read for an hour and asleep by 9. Up at 6 so 9 hours. I can’t stay up late.

firstimemamma · 11/11/2019 17:19

1 year old here. He goes to bed at 7. We are usually in bed by half 10. Could go earlier but the chill out / tv time downstairs is precious, I agree with you there. Ds sleeps through until 6ish. I generally feel ok, sometimes a bit tired but I put that down to just being a busy sahm

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/11/2019 17:22

In the week ds 5 goes to bed 7.30,we go up around 9.30

Weekend ds goes around 8/9 we average around 11pm

HRH2020 · 11/11/2019 17:25

DC asleep by 830ish and I'm in bed by 9pm, go to sleep half an hour later. Awake at 6. DP says most others are staying up a lot later but this thread shows otherwise!

Bouledeneige · 11/11/2019 17:26

I go to bed between 12-1am. I have older teenagers so that's not an issue and I usually get up around 7.30am.

onlyconnect · 11/11/2019 17:30

I'm almost always putting my light out at ten or a bit before. My alarm is set for 7 but I quite often wake up a bit before. I need at least 8 hours to feel ok.

Titsywoo · 11/11/2019 17:32

I need 7 hours to function well. I go to bed at 11 and sleep by midnight then up at 7. If I'm very tired I'll to sleep at 11.

Spied · 11/11/2019 17:33

DC 8&10 go to bed around 8:30-9.
I stay up until 11 watching TV and generally unwinding with dp. Read for an hour in bed so sleep at 12.
I get up at 6:30 weekdays, maybe 7:30 weekends. Any longer and I feel all foggy and unwell.

SimonJT · 11/11/2019 17:33

My four year old is in bed by 7:15. I go to bed at 11:30-12ish, even with melatonin it can take me a good hour to get to sleep. I then have to wake up at 1:30 to test my bloods (diabetic) then sometimes again at 3. I get up around 6am. My boyfriend is normally asleep by 9:30 when he stays over and doesn’t wake up until gone 8!

My fitbit records my sleep, I know it isn’t 100% accurate but my average sleep seems to be just over five hours a night.

namechangenumber2 · 11/11/2019 17:36

We usually go up to bed about 10.30 and I'm normally asleep by 11.30 then up at 7.

CravingCheese · 11/11/2019 17:36

I'm generally manage to fall sleep after 21.00, which I aim for. But it it's more likely to be anything between 22.00 and 1... Unfortunately.

I get up at 6 on weekdays, 5 on Saturdays and as late as possible on Sundays.

Elbeagle · 11/11/2019 17:36

In bed by 10 but the baby is up by 5.30 and also once or twice a night before that.
11-7 is 8 hours sleep so should be plenty for a healthy adult usually. Can’t remember the last time I had 8 hours sleep (3 DC under 6 who have all been horrific sleepers!) Grin. Sounds like your tiredness is down to your B12 levels.

CTRL · 11/11/2019 17:37

Single mum of a 6 year old.

I work full time (5 days a week, 9 hours a day) and do the school runs before and after work.

I usually get my son to sleep by about 8/9ish LATEST but sometimes earlier if his tired and had a long day which is often.

I then have my ‘Me Time’. Most days I go to sleep about 1 or 2am. Sometimes 3am. Although I have to admit when I’m really tired, I end up falling asleep on the sofa around 11 then wake up 2/3am and jump into bed.

Then up again 6:45am to get ready for school run and work.

Yes I’m KNACKERED !! Grin

CMOTDibbler · 11/11/2019 17:37

I go to bed between 10 and 10.30, get up normally at 7. I'm always tired!

AuntGinny · 11/11/2019 17:37

I get about 5-6 hours a night. I feel like I'm dying most of the time, but can never get to sleep. If I take sleep meds I sometimes can sleep in the morning but that usually leaves me feeling groggy and doesn't help me go off to sleep in the first place, so I mostly do without now.

SallyWD · 11/11/2019 17:37

Generally about 10.30 but some days I'm just so exhausted I sleep just after 9pm and then have a really long 9 or 10 hour sleep! I think if you're exhausted you should listen to your body and sleep early. It doesn't have to be every night

MaryBoBary · 11/11/2019 17:41

I've got a 3 year old. I go to bed about 9.30/10 and generally go straight to sleep. Then I'm up at about 6.30. But I still always feel tired and at the weekend I can sleep for 12-14 hours if I get a lie in. I had b12 injections and took tablets earlier this year, but last blood test showed b12 levels were fine. I think I must just need a lot of sleep nowadays!

BatEaredFox · 11/11/2019 17:44

I'm asleep by 10.30pm and out of bed by 8am. I need lots of sleep!

MyNameIsMrsGrumpy · 11/11/2019 17:46

Kids in bed by 7/7.30.

I normally head up about 9 or 9.30 asleep by 10.

Up about 6am - sometimes stay up later on a weekend

ChileConCarne · 11/11/2019 17:47

I go to bed at 10.30pm, mess around watching YouTube videos and fall asleep at about 11. I wake up at 6am during the week and at weekends so I don’t need a massive amount of sleep to feel ok. I’ve not got kids though.
