To ask what you want for Christmas?

My DH and his extended large family are all seriously Christmas mad. Everyone makes long lists and buys each other lots of presents (not necessarily extravagant and expensive, just lots of things). I like giving presents but honestly could do without receiving them, I usually struggle to come up with a list and this year is harder as I'm pregnant so no alcohol and have a young DS so don't go out much, so don't need any new makeup or anything.
I've mentioned in previous years maybe not worrying about me, or maybe doing a secret Santa type thing, but they won't have it and just bug me for more things for my list.
So, after that very long intro, could I ask what people are wanting or hoping for for Christmas? I'm hoping to get some inspo for maybe stuff I haven't thought of (either for my list or to buy someone else)
Sorry I'm asking this so far ahead of Christmas, can't be helped with this family Grin

If you imagine someone gave you £50 and told you to spend it on a treat, what would you get? Then ask for that. Voucher for a spa day? M&S gift card to stock up on lots of yummy ready meals? Books? Lovely maternity clothes? Subscription to a magazine you like but wouldn't normally buy for yourself?

Topseyt · 09/11/2019 18:41

The only thing on my list would be book vouchers or Amazon vouchers so that I can choose books for myself. I am a fairly avid reader when I get the time.

Other than that, the only thing that I want is for us go go out for Christmas Dinner to the local hotel five minutes walk up the road, which I have already booked.

I would find your DH's family rather hard work, but I guess they have always operated that way and won't change.

ShowOfHands · 09/11/2019 18:42

Several threads already in the Christmas topic if you want a browse.

QueenWhatevs · 09/11/2019 18:43

I want a particular Lego set (Blush) a large, soft pale grey scarf (tesco had a nice one in this evening), cashmere socks and some good bubble bath. I would always be grateful for nice wine, nice gin, and vouchers for family-friendly restaurants.

spice3 · 09/11/2019 18:44

Only thing on my list so far is a fleece blanket and chocolate Grin

QueenWhatevs · 09/11/2019 18:45

OP you could ask for cinema tokens, its nice to have a voucher so you can take your young child out to see the latest nonsense while you sit down and munch popcorn.

goodfornothinggnome · 09/11/2019 18:46

For me? I dont usually get anything so I would ask for some PJs and a really fluffy nightgown and maybe a book.
That would be me well and truly happy.

DailyMailHater · 09/11/2019 18:47

I’ve asked my DP for Books, Pjs, dressing gown, perfume (not an expensive one just a nice everyday one) some nice bubble baths (to keep just for me when I want something to treat myself next with rather than the value stuff we use everyday) and a nice selection of those sheet face masks so I have a stash of them for if i fancy using one whilst I soak in the bath.

Clarinet53 · 09/11/2019 18:47

If you're pregnant and you have a small child I would ask for baby sitting gifts and the gift of some help stocking the freezer with drop bag meals.

Those things you'll really appreciate 🙂

Becles · 09/11/2019 18:50

A really nice handbag

Both you and DH some Cook vouchers or similar to that in your part of the world

Vouchers for your local massage place

Vouchers for a manicure/ haircut

Do you wear specs? A new glam pair that you can start using a few months post baby if you start feeling a tad frumpy

Megan2018 · 09/11/2019 18:50

We do lists, I still get very spoilt by my family despite being married and 41 Blush

I am struggling this year though as just had a baby and not drinking.

List so far is:
Breeches (I have a horse)
Fat Face socks
Warm button through pyjamas for BF and cosleeping as am freezing without duvet
Sanctuary Wet Skin moisturiser (I love this as not got time for proper body lotion but its not cheap so would happily have 10 tubes Grin)
A nice home fragrance diffuser
Joules slippers
Vouchers for NEXT, Jojo, Fat Face, Joules, John Lewis, Dunelm

greenlobster · 09/11/2019 18:54

Top of my list this year are some new kitchen knives, a mortar and pestle and a new wok.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 09/11/2019 18:56

I have asked for:
A new hoodie
Some bubble bath
Chocolate
New Bernard cornwell book
Novelty socks.

Not the most exciting list, but I don’t want for much.

UterusesBeforeDuderuses · 09/11/2019 18:56

Oops sorry didn't realise there was a Christmas topic, should maybe have posted this there! Lots of great ideas already though! Smile

Dh is getting me some new head phones for running but if I could choose my own gifts I'd choose lovely cosy pyjamas & cosy socks saw some nice ones in Asda today . Nice Bottle of wine & nice chocolates. I'm easily pleased Grin.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 09/11/2019 19:00

My 'list' is always themed, last year I really fancied Rum and raisin fudge and got butt ton of it so probably will never eat it again. 😅

This year lots of Gin based gifts are catching my eye but I appreciate you're pregnant so aren't drinking.

My sister is asking for amazon vouchers to fill up her kindle.

When I'm struggling to know what to suggest I try and pick things that are small that'll I'll use even if they're not exciting like socks, nice food/drink, little hand creams or bath bombs, book tokens etc. I also every single time I see something that I think 'ohh that's neat/lovely/interesting' I make a note of it to pass onto DH.

AJPTaylor · 09/11/2019 19:14

I like autobiographies. This year I want Elton John and lenny henry.
I want a watch and troll beads. Clothes? Good quality basics e.g. t shirts

Raspberrytruffle · 09/11/2019 19:18

Me hmm I dont usually ask for anything so if Santa is listening I'd like a positive pregnancy test off myself by January, been trying for our 3rd DC after 11 years of having a vasectomy, we are 6 months in to trying [santa]

IggyAce · 09/11/2019 19:22

I’ve asked for a new hand bag, nice socks, soap and some Ordinary rose hip oil.

MumW · 09/11/2019 19:25

Clothes vouchers so that you can treat yourself to some new clothes at some point after you've given birth.
Luxury socks - about the only thing not likely to get spoilt post partum!

Veronicat · 09/11/2019 19:29

Id love one or more of the copper and stone pans from JML and one of those bath racks to hold my tablet etc when I'm having a wallow. I'm also hankering after a camping toastie pan.

dementedma · 09/11/2019 19:29

Latest Bill Bryson Book
Perfume
Massage voucher
Gin

Moominfan · 09/11/2019 19:30

Cashmere socks
Gucci guilty perfume

Liland · 09/11/2019 19:32

This is my first Christmas with a baby. I've asked for nice cushions, many soft blankets (projectile vomiter baby means the existing 10 are not enough to save various furniture...) and a nice large keepsake box for baby things (I've become unimaginably soppy). Chocolate, vodka (for post-birth?), amazon vouchers always welcome!

Nice soft home comforts essentially :)

Nousernameforme · 09/11/2019 19:41

Recycled cashmere wrist warmers. Some new books bubble bath Lego I'm really easy to buy for
