Well come on... it has hasn’t it?

I know it’s been done to death “I remember when all was fields, joules and shark Hoovers” but Aibu to say... last month or so...

Or am I just getting old?

LipstickTaserrr · 08/11/2019 19:42

R u FUMMING tho babez? Xxx

stilltiredinthemorning · 08/11/2019 19:46

These kinds of posts don't make you sound old or 'mouldy' they just make you sound like a little bit of an arsehole. Poor grammar does not mark a lack of intelligence and even if it did, are you basically saying people you consider to be less intelligent or less educated than you aren't allowed in your club?

Do you teach your children this lovely inclusive attitude as well?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 08/11/2019 19:49

Start your own site op like the other load of snobs did 10 years ago.

Youonlyhadonejob · 08/11/2019 20:06

I started posting here when it was all fields (yes really) and I am absolutely mortified that the colony of huns with their inability to spell or punctuate - not to mention the fucking xxxxxx proliferation has taken over a once excellent site!

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2019 20:09

Some of this thread is hilarious

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 20:09

@stilltiredinthemorning not mentioned spag in my original post - and as per my later post - don’t have children. Please rtft

OP posts:
stilltiredinthemorning · 08/11/2019 20:24

nethuns, sorry I want particularly clear, I wasn't just referring to you, but all the other PPs who are coming across like mean-spirited, selfish toy-hoggers.

Surely this was designed to be an open forum for people to get support and advice etc., not an echochamber for a bunch of old-timers to make 'witty' in-jokes they can all haw haw over (they would obviously NEVER lol).

I don't find the parking threads at all interesting, for example, but I just don't read them.

I'm sorry if I'm being a grump and maybe this was intended as a lighthearted thread, but I can't stand snobbery and exclusion and I'd hate to think that silly threads like this could put off someone who needed help, but was worried that they'd make a MORTIFYING faux pas like putting kisses at the end of their post and get laughed at.

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2019 20:34

Great post still tired and I agree with you wholeheartedly

Gingaaarghpussy · 08/11/2019 20:36

What really annoys me are the posters who pile in on a thread, of some poor soul who needs help because there is something wrong with grammar or spelling. A lot of people write how they speak, who gives a fuck if its spelt wrong.
I have issues with a wall of text, so I move on rather posting.
At the grand old age of nearly 50, with a teenage son, why cant I shorten words, why do I have to spell every word correctly? It's the issue that matters. There are so many times I could reply with shortened words. Now I think I'll do it anyway.
I've been on mumsnet for yonks, it's no different now than it was when I first joined.
Oh and I'll never sign off with x's cuz I don't do that with texts.
Habit innit.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 08/11/2019 20:37

I mean ffs!! You can't even have an "Aibu to lock my children in the coal shed" thread anymore 😩i

Precisely. I'm sick of having to spell out humour. It's getting frickin' dull

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 20:40

@Gingaaarghpussy the trend I’m talking about isn’t dropping there for their... as I said have been pulled up myself my the grammar nazis. It’s ... something else.,,

OP posts:
PortiaCastis · 08/11/2019 20:42

I find it very funny when the SPAG police turn up en masse to a thread then make glaring errors themselves.

MsPotterPepper · 08/11/2019 20:50

I have terrible SPAG so I tend not to take the piss out of other people for SPAG mistakes.
However, I do not consider a complete lack of punctuation as an error, just simple stupidity. (Even then I wouldn't bring it up on a thread, I just ignore).

Paintedmaypole · 08/11/2019 20:50

Well said still tired , this is an open forum. Of course, I do understand that it is extremely witty and intelligent to tell people to fuck off to the far side of fuck. Also , how much classier it is to call each other cunts rather than huns. OP (and those backing you up) you are snobbish, narrow minded mean girls.

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 08/11/2019 20:55

I have not been on MN long enough to judge it properly but I have a feeling we have here more and more races to the bottom in last year or so.
I find that quite sad.

Gingaaarghpussy · 08/11/2019 21:10

Weirdly enough, the biggest problem I have is swearing Grin I've always been bought (brought?) Up to believe that you should be able to put your point across without it. I've instilled the same in my kids, although I'm not daft enough to believe that they don't swear when I cant hear them.
Oh I thank every higher being there is that mumsnet is nothing like nethuns. Theres no sparkly shit to be seen on threads, theres no bright colours and don't even get me started on the "my sprog is 243 months old and is 7ft 3 inches tall.
I think facebook and Instagram are more to blame. Grin

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 08/11/2019 21:15

Srsly? Has it all gone a bit more Nethuns on here since the last thread on this exact same subject approx 2 weeks ago?

I haven't noticed but I'm an infrequent visitor these days. I mainly save Mumsnet for my middle of the night insomnia. It generally puts me back to sleep Grin.

Gingaaarghpussy · 08/11/2019 21:18

@Nextphonewontbeasamsung. Nah! But everybody has an opinion about everything so it won't ever go away.Grin
I still blame Facebook and Instagram.

DragonontheWagon · 08/11/2019 21:25

I've not rtft because I'm a lazy arse this evening but it went a bit nethuns months ago.

I wouldn't mind so much but all the xxx and hun crap infuriates me. I'd just like to converse with people with similar intellectual capabilities.

There I said it, again...

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 08/11/2019 21:25

Ah this thread is so revealing. I imagine you, and the majority of the people agreeing with you, to be sat in the playground making snide, judgemental comments about all the other mums

Isn't that the whole point of AIBU?

Got a live hun here.....😂

Newbie1981 · 08/11/2019 21:26

Just to add, I hardly ever see anybody calling anyone else "hun". I see more threads moaning about it than I do anybody actually doing it. So I don't know what part of the site you read.

So true!!!!!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 08/11/2019 21:27

hate these words and phrases

As the OP of the words thread can I point out that I've been on here yonks, got banned from NM after 30 mins (I'm proud of myself) and, and, and....I'm not a parent.

DowntownAbby · 08/11/2019 21:30

Today alone I've seen 'hun', 'lolz' and 'xx' in posts.

And a fuckload of 'alot', 'abit' and really, really shit spelling and grammar.

So yes, it's very NetMums here at the moment.

NerrSnerr · 08/11/2019 21:35

Should MNHQ implement am IQ test before people join, or do checks on their class and exclude anyone working class? What if someone has a learning disability? Are they fair game to be mocked because of their posting style?

Should Mumsnet be a closed forum for should be be inclusive for anyone to join?

DowntownAbby · 08/11/2019 21:36

@NerrSnerr

Yes.
