Well come on... it has hasn’t it?

I know it’s been done to death “I remember when all was fields, joules and shark Hoovers” but Aibu to say... last month or so...

Or am I just getting old?

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 18:39

@RightEarlobeBreath I know it does... but honestly it has been a really noticeable change over around the last 2ish months.

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 08/11/2019 18:40

Not so bothered about punctuation and spag, but am weary of all the ....'first world problems...is that all you've got to worry about?'.....and the generally unforgiving nature of so many posts.

2020bump · 08/11/2019 18:40

The Hun crowd are the same type that post under a photo on Facebook-"two beauty's"

Underneath are 2 distinctly average looking people

NabooThatsWho · 08/11/2019 18:40

Gotta let all those with worse grammar than us know how inferior and unwelcome they are, eh?

You do know the ‘net-huns’ are people just like you, with the same life problems and issues? They come here for the same reasons you do, to get advice, to have a laugh, to chat with people....so why be a dick about it? Who gives a fuck if their grammar isn’t perfect?

Witchofthenorth · 08/11/2019 18:42

I have been in and out of Mumsnet for at least 8 years and I've noticed things changing. I think my biggest bugbear is when you clearly have to state "lighthearted" on the thread title now I mean ffs!! You can't even have an "Aibu to lock my children in the coal shed" thread anymore 😩

NotYourHolidayDick · 08/11/2019 18:43

Yep and it does my motherfucking head in.

I've been told off for being blunt, being told that if I can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. It's a fucking internet chat room ffs. Everyone just wants their head patted and to be told that they are just fine hun.

Urgh.

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 18:44

@NabooThatsWho I’m not talking (only) about spelling and grammar. Like others above had said - it’s “how can you care about xxx when people are dying”. That’s not coming on for a chat and a laugh.

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 08/11/2019 18:44

There seems to be a much bigger demand for cheerleading at the moment and a general sense in places of "validate what I'm saying, if your experiences aren't the same as mine you're wrong, and if you don't agree with me then you're a meanie".

Yep. And people being offended that you dared to respond to their post let alone quote their post in your response.

WorldEndingFire · 08/11/2019 18:45

Oh, that this too, too sullied thread would melt,
Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew,
Or that the Everlasting had not fixed
Mumsnet 'gainst self-slaughter! O God, God!
How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable
Seem to me all the uses of this board!
Fie on ’t, ah fie! 'Tis an unweeded garden
That grows to seed. Things rank and gross in nature
Possess it merely. That it should come to this.
But two years dead—nay, not so much, not two.
So excellent a poster, that was to this
Hyperion to a nethun. So loving to my grammar.

HauntedPinecone · 08/11/2019 18:46

StillCoughingandLaughing I think I've agreed with everything you've written on every thread I've read today!

YANBU OP.

MintToBee · 08/11/2019 18:47

You ok hun? Wink

HauntedPinecone · 08/11/2019 18:48

i've been told off for being blunt, being told that if I can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. It's a fucking internet chat room ffs. Everyone just wants their head patted and to be told that they are just fine hun

Couldn't agree more.

DoneToDeathNow · 08/11/2019 18:49

Ah this thread is so revealing. I imagine you, and the majority of the people agreeing with you, to be sat in the playground making snide, judgemental comments about all the other mums. Judging them because they are not as educated as you and not carbon copies of you. Women judging women.

Well, at least you are all clogging up this thread together rather than spreading your poison all over the site.

DoneToDeathNow · 08/11/2019 18:50

Just to add, I hardly ever see anybody calling anyone else "hun". I see more threads moaning about it than I do anybody actually doing it. So I don't know what part of the site you read.

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 18:51

@WorldEndingFire beautiful wipes tear

OP posts:
Bunnyfuller · 08/11/2019 18:52

I agree. I can sniff out the lack of punctuation, the incredibly convoluted he said/she said petty argument threads that I actually give up trying to follow. Text speak. Grammar.

And the baby namez. I never used to read them (shrivelled, menopausal and because wine). I go on them now because I am astounded.

And sarcasm is lost. And they’re not fucking sweary enough.

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2019 18:53

Oh lord another hun thread, I think when we have posts referencing ddog that's just as coy, I wasn't aware there was a test to join here but slagging off others seems to be the norm.

nethunsinthatway · 08/11/2019 18:53

@DoneToDeathNow hmm how judgmental are you? I don’t actually have children, so not sat in a playground judging anyone.

OP posts:
Raspberrytruffle · 08/11/2019 18:53
Hmm
TeachesOfPeaches · 08/11/2019 18:54

I absolutely agree with you OP, it's gone downhill fast. I've only been here 3 or 4 years but the razor sharp wit used to make me laugh out loud while up in the night with a new born.

Now it seems to be mindless streams of consciousness about non-existent problems. All badly spelt, poor grammar and xxxx hun 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Raspberrytruffle · 08/11/2019 18:54

Sand still in your vag op?

Bunnyfuller · 08/11/2019 18:54

@DoneToDeathNow -

I was never satin the playground with the other mums judging. I was flying in after a day at work to either be blanked or ‘oh hun, how lovely, your kiddies get to see their mummy’.

So you can fuck off with that!

OtraCosaMariposa · 08/11/2019 18:57

Is it really any worse recently though? There has always been a significant minority of the professionally vacant who type things with no punctuation and who are defiantly discusting.

I think Nethuns has been having techie issues, and their massive adverts would certainly put me off posting there. That and their acceptance of MLM as a valid employment possibility.

LolaSmiles · 08/11/2019 18:58

Ah this thread is so revealing. I imagine you, and the majority of the people agreeing with you, to be sat in the playground making snide, judgemental comments about all the other mums.
That in itself seems a bit much.
Aka "you have an opinion on some online posting therefore I shall make sweeping claims that you all must sit and bitch in the playground".

If anything, the women I talk to offline who are interested in debate and aren't up for yes people cheerleading are actually by far less likely to be bothered by playground gossip and cliques.
They aren't the types who buy into the whole "being a good woman means unconditionally as affirming whatever another woman does" approach. They accept that everyone judges and has opinions and that people may as well own them, whereas the "yes Hun" types tend to see someone expressing an opinion or personal feeling on something and get all frothy and outraged about "omg how judgemental are you? You need to get out more if all you can do is comment on X". For some it's all very cool to sit online and pretend you never judge anyone or anything and you never ever possibly get irritated by anything ever.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 08/11/2019 19:01

Isn't it because something happened to Netmums recently and loads of their posters came here? Does anyone know what happened?
