Friends, the one where we get annoyed

Light hearted!

I like Friends but I often have moments of getting annoyed by it.

Rachel and Monica would never have been best friends at high school. One was a popular cheerleader type and the other was an overweight, immature nerd ... you’re telling me that in an American high school these two girls would have been besties?

Joey is loved by everyone, yet he’s a sexist player that disregards and disrespects women and he’s thick as pig shit with no job - but he’s so lovable 🤔

Ross is the bad guy in the whole Carol and Susan thing yet his wife cheated on him, Susan insisted that the baby was as much hers as it was his (??!!) and he’s expected to just accept it? I hate Susan!!

What annoys you about Friends?

(Before anyone starts, no I don’t make a habit of calling people fat nerds but the program specifically plays on this which is why I said it)

I love Jennifer Aniston's delivery of 'You fell asleep?' in that scene.

One that really gets me is the fact that supposed neat freak Monica has open kitchen cupboards! Why would she have all that crap on full display?

Agree that Susan needs a punch. What an arrogant, callous cow she was, instrumental in Ross’s life being torn apart and him living apart from his kid. My baby too? Get fucked.

A female character needs a punch? For falling in love with another woman? Or for repeatedly standing up to a man's bullshit? Am i still on MN? the MRAs are out in force tonight.

Carol was a lesbian - she was going to fall in love with a woman sooner or later. Susan just happened to be that woman. And kudos to her for taking on Ben as well as a new relationship. She didn't shut Ross out, she just didn't take any of his juvenile crap either.

Ross needed to accept Carol had made her choice and respect that - not pine after her and use her sexuality as currency to garner a reaction and sympathy from anyone who would listen for years afterwards. Very predictive of how he would behave towards Rachel later on imo.

Ach no, she was a boot.

I can honestly say that whilst I do know the names of some of the characters ( because they have been in the media over the years)

I've never actually watched friends......

Agreeing with Susan was awful posters!
She was playing around with a married woman, said "we refer to you as Bobo the Sperm donor" (why, what had Ross done wrong here, it was him who was cheated on?!)
She was a horrible character.

Some might argue that Carol strung Ross along until she got what she wanted (a baby), then ditched him out of the blue for horrible Susan, who proceeded to treat Ross like a piece of shit.

Imagine if Carol had left him for another man and that man started with all the ‘it’s my baby too’ and ‘give him my surname’ bullshit. Everyone would rightly tear that cuckoo in the nest to shreds!

Or imagine if Ross had left Carol for another man and insisted on raising the baby with him as co-parent, leaving Carol on the peripheral to be insulted and belittled at every turn.

It wasn’t okay because they were lesbians. It was no different to any other betrayal and Susan was a nasty, overbearing cunt.

But of course, Ross should have just meekly fucked off to sit in his part-time dad box, waiting to be allowed to see his allocated third of a son, without murmur of complaint...because Carol was a lesbian.

The sofa is the best seat in Central Perk yet it’s always available for them.

Fun fact - apparently there was always a small ‘reserved’ sign sitting on the table.

Susan was horrendous, the worst character ever. She was nasty, smug, controlling and devious. She was playing around with a married woman, bullied Ross, made out that she had more rights to HIS baby than he did and do you remember her horrible face at her wedding? When she walked in she pulled the most awful evil face. The only thing that would have made that scene more bearable was to see her fall flat on her stupid ridiculous face

Wasn't there an episode about some bullies who kept stealing the sofa from the friends?

The normalising of porn really pissed me off in friends. Also one particular episode where the worst things that happens is that Ross puts on an old school website the chandler is gay.

There's a lot of 'jokes' regarding being gay.

But the porn thing really pisses me off.

I don't think porn was normalised but this was the 90s and the start of the internet and of course easy access to porn. It's more a reference of its time.
