Friends, the one where we get annoyed

Light hearted!

I like Friends but I often have moments of getting annoyed by it.

Rachel and Monica would never have been best friends at high school. One was a popular cheerleader type and the other was an overweight, immature nerd ... you’re telling me that in an American high school these two girls would have been besties?

Joey is loved by everyone, yet he’s a sexist player that disregards and disrespects women and he’s thick as pig shit with no job - but he’s so lovable 🤔

Ross is the bad guy in the whole Carol and Susan thing yet his wife cheated on him, Susan insisted that the baby was as much hers as it was his (??!!) and he’s expected to just accept it? I hate Susan!!

What annoys you about Friends?

(Before anyone starts, no I don’t make a habit of calling people fat nerds but the program specifically plays on this which is why I said it)

I hate the poorly staged moments for comedic effect. There’s the episode where Phoebe goes into labour and Rachel grabs a bible that just happens to be lying on the table - who’s reading the bible that regularly that it’s out on the table out of those 6?! Then there’s the episode where Monica has to bust the baby chick and the duck out of the ‘foosball table’, Joey just happens to have a mallet and a crowbar next to his cooker. Why??? Is he a thief by night?! Every time I see those scenes, my teeth itch.

The thing about the Friends people is that they are all absolutely shit friends to each other

They sabotage each others lives for selfish reasons on the regular

I noticed this on my last watch but would have to watch again for specific examples other than off my head :

Phoebe and Rachel ruining Ross's wedding
Rachel stealing Monica's baby name
Chandler stealing Kathy from Joey
Ross's endless intellectual superiority towards both Joey and Phoebe
Them all ruining an evening when Ross had a work do, dicking about
The fact that they are all mad homophobic
Phoebe making Joey dump her sister
Them all ruining a trip Ross had planned because Rachel wasn't going

nah it was lisa kudrow was all set to play Roz up to them even filming her in the episodes I think, but they changed their mind saying they were changing the writing to suit her. Thank god.

I’ve decided the main issue is that Rachel’s sisters aren’t in it enough and should have had a spin off special.

And Carol is a bitch. I also hate Ross’ son and his stupid bowl haircut.

Ross has some of the best episodes- the tan, the leather trousers, the white teeth!

To be fair to Ross (well, David) - he is well up for taking the absolute piss out of himself.

Some of the 'laugh at him, not with him' episodes are the funniest of the whole thing.

Can I add, 'the rage (MY SANDWICH / MY BEST FRIEND AND MY SISTER)', 'red Ross, 'the Rossitron' Science Boy, the humidifier, and the Holiday Armidillo

This doesn't just happen in Friends, granted, but it annoys me when they are all invited to attend or have a role in people's weddings when realistically they wouldn't even make the reserve list. For example, Monica and Richard being at Barry and Mindy's (even Rachel and Ross being invited is absurd) and them all going to Carol and Susan's wedding (with Monica pushing the baby down the aisle in the pram!) If someone had treated my brother or friend so terribly there's no way I'd want to be at their wedding!

I love friends but know what you mean. Hated the Rachel and joey storyline with a passion. Hated they introduced Charlie as the token black character. Hated that monica and chandlers much wanted babies were left at days old out of site with just monitors, what first time New parents do that??? Hated that Rachel went from a waitress to being fought over by two major fashion houses with no qualifications or training. I could go on but I'll stop before I stress myself out lol
