Morning all
I have been doing calorie counting for a little over a week now, 1200 calories a day and doing 15/20 mins a day workouts as well as being fairly active with a toddler. I dont have loads to lose im 10st 6 and goal is 9st but nothing is working.
Ive gone from drinking 2-3 cans pepsi max, few cups of tea and zero water, biscuits, chocolate bars, crisps, 2-4 slices white bread a day and unhealthy dinners - to eating healthy dinners, cutting out the white bread, no excessive snacking.
Has anyone else had this problem? I feel like giving up, the whole time i was eating shit i stayed at 10 st 6.
Also took measurements and no change there, Its disheartening.

It's fine to be pissed off but don't give up just yet. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for the diet effects to kick in, and I find my weight fluctuates on a daily basis. I've started to take less notice of weekly measurements and focus more on month by month changes.

Good luck though, dieting is hard work.

lastqueenofscotland · 08/11/2019 07:57

Have you been accurately working out what your eating
Ie counting milk/sugars in teas, alcohol is very calorie heavy, weighing EVERYTHING, course if you’re just guessing chances are it will be more

Aldo unless what you’re doing is very high intensity you’ll only be burning around 100/150 cals

Lostsocksaresoannoying · 08/11/2019 07:58

Don't give up. I have this problem. I was 11 stone, down to 9 stone 10 now, but it's taken a while. The first few weeks nothing came off at all then all of a sudden I'd drop 2-3lbs in a week.

Tattooedmama · 08/11/2019 07:58

I see everywhere people losing 4lb + on their first week then it levels out to 1-2lb a week, i havent lost a thing im so guttes. Ive cut out so much but its not budging, but your right maybe i should get my partner to hide the scalea and weigh monthly

peachypetite · 08/11/2019 07:58

I’m sure by the end of week two you’ll see something.

treeofwhispers · 08/11/2019 07:59

I have had similar. I ended up getting frustrated and cut my portions in half and added more salad/green veg, cutting out sweet things altogether and upping the exercise to 50 mins running everyday. That worked! I had more to lose, though.

Seriously several things might be going on. It could be water retention, time of the month, you could be underestimating your calories, your activity might burn less calories than you think. Monitor it all and tweak things when it is not working is my advice.

Tattooedmama · 08/11/2019 08:00

I dont drink alcohol and havent had sugar in tea in a few years.
Its the body coach youtube workouts im doing, but i am considering doing 30 day shred

It's really easy to get hung up on weighing...at one point I was obsessed...weighing myself 3,4 times a day.

If it's not a personal question, where in your cycle are you? That can make a huge difference.

Iwouldbecomplex · 08/11/2019 08:01

Make sure you're using something like my fitness pal and putting every single things that pass your lips in your diary. I even put my fish oil supplements in because I take 3. If you really haven't lost anything after a couple of weeks and you've been angelic you could go to your GP and get your thyroid tested in case it's a bit underactive and also some hormone tests just to check all is well.

JustDanceAddict · 08/11/2019 08:01

You def need to monitor it. Work out for nasal metabolic rate online, then my fitness pal online. Don’t count exercise in your calorie allowance. A week is nothing, Carey in and it’ll come off.

Tattooedmama · 08/11/2019 08:02

Thanks all for the replies, i know I sound daft feeling like this after just a week and a half just so disappointed i havent had that kick start weight loss most people get.
Great thing is cravings are subsiding and im not feeling as hungry

JustDanceAddict · 08/11/2019 08:02

And def do the Shred, it’s amazing.

treeofwhispers · 08/11/2019 08:03

Fat does come off more slowly. I've even ready the fat cells can be filled up with water short term when you lose fat and then the weight seems to come off suddenly when you lose the water,

Tattooedmama · 08/11/2019 08:05

Could cutting day time breastfeeds affect it?
When i was doing weight watchers i was EBF and still losing weight (might i add still eating treats)
Little one almost 2 and only feeds at night ke

Keep going - a week is nothing! If you're not used to doing exercise, your muscles can hold onto water for a bit.

Frenchw1fe · 08/11/2019 08:07

Don't give up.
Also try to see new eating regime as a lifestyle change. Diets are temporary, better to have a permanent manageable change.
Well done for sticking to your new regime for over a week, you know you're eating healthily and that's what counts.

virginpinkmartini · 08/11/2019 08:08

A week is nothing, OP. Take into consideration things like water retention (it's not time of the month, is it?). Its important to look at the big picture, and not think of immediate gratification by seeing fast results. You're doing it for your health, and it needs to be sustainable for you. I lost a pound every couple of weeks to begin with, and I lost a stone and a half over the course of 10 months, and it's staying off cos im maintaining now.

virginpinkmartini · 08/11/2019 08:12

Oh and yes to weighing everything. My friend claimed she was on CICO, but wasn't seeing results. I asked her if she had a scale and she said no 😒 She was eyeballing everything, and didn't have any idea what constituted a service size. So she gave up because she was wasn't logging properly and it lost its shine.

virginpinkmartini · 08/11/2019 08:12

*serving size I mean

HGpg · 08/11/2019 08:12

To lose weight you have to be in a calorie deficit. To lose 1lb in a week you need to have a 500 calorie deficit per day. Make sure you're weighing your food to get accurate calorie intake amounts. The body coach workouts are great, but you may not be burning more than 150/200 calories a session so bear that in mind when looking at your eating. It's so hard! Good luck xx

Startoftheyear2019 · 08/11/2019 08:12

Hang in there. If you try and see the weight loss (and future weight maintenance) as your new way of eating you might find it less frustrating.

dayslikethese1 · 08/11/2019 08:14

Are you tracking calories on MFP or similar? It's easy to eat more than you think when with healthy food. Also a week is a v short time, it's always slower than that for me, a month maybe.

dayslikethese1 · 08/11/2019 08:14

*even with

ooooohbetty · 08/11/2019 08:15

If you're not losing weight you're not using up more calories than you're eating. Make sure you don't guess portion sizes when working out calories and try cutting out snacking.
