To wear the same clothes twice?!

Do you wear the same outfit 2 days running? I’m never at the same site 2 days in a row but often same colleagues. Idly musing ‘what shall I wear tomorrow, I wore this yesterday’ and its definitely into the wash tonight as I’ve cooked in it and DD was horrified.

the planet will thank you
I do the same - however I often change out of work clothes when I get in, so they're not even on for a whole day

captainprincess · 06/11/2019 21:00

Yes of course. As a society we way over wash clothes. If it's not covered in dirt or sweat it can be worn again several times 🤷🏼‍♀️

topcat2014 · 06/11/2019 21:03

I wear trousers for a few days.
Change into a rugby type top for evening (for a few evenings).
Work shirts would be minging to wear for more than one day, although sometimes wear the same shirt for two weekend days.

CAG12 · 06/11/2019 21:04

Yes its fine

SallyWD · 06/11/2019 21:06

I wear trousers for 2 or 3 days. I have to change my tops each day as they smell too sweaty!

bridgetreilly · 06/11/2019 21:06

Not sure which way is BU or not in the vote. I voted YABU to never wear the same outfit 2 days. Honestly, most things do not need washing that often. Knickers, obviously, and sweaty t-shirts and stuff that's actually dirty. But most things will be fine the next day, and some things for much longer than that.

Bananalanacake · 06/11/2019 21:09

I do this all the time, only underwear goes in the wash after one wear

monkeysox · 06/11/2019 21:11

Might wear trousers or jeans twice but not tops

likeafishneedsabike · 06/11/2019 21:11

Just depends really on how sweaty you are and what you’re up to. I think it’s sensible to consider whether clothes are dirty before automatically slinging them in the laundry.

dudsville · 06/11/2019 21:12

Just this year I've given in to thurs. You don't have to wear the whole of a same outfit twice. For instance, I tend to wear trousers to work. In weather that doesn't make me sweat I'll wear one pair of trousers the whole week, change of tops and under garments.

Meggie2008 · 06/11/2019 21:15

The only thing of mine goes in the wash each day is pants and socks. Trousers are worn a couple of days and tops get the sniff test and probably worn again 😂

icantfind · 06/11/2019 21:15

I used to, but now my children cover me in all sorts so everything looks dirty by the end of the day.

Etinox · 06/11/2019 21:16

Sorry- it’s aibu to wear the same outfit to work two days in a row? I do change when I get home and wear professional/ quirky.
Today and yesterday I’m wearing a dress with black leggings grey socks and ankle boots. DD in a much more corporate setting coins I’d have to have a tilty headed conversation with HR about my wellbeing! Confused

I wouldn't wear the same thing two days running but it would go back in the wardrobe for more wears. apart from underwear I only wash my clothes when they need washing. Bad for clothes and for the environment to wash them too often.

Foodtheif · 06/11/2019 21:17

I can wear jeans / trousers / skirts for a week before changing. They don’t really get sweaty or smelly. T shirts I will wear twice if it’s not the summer and I can get away with it. Can’t always. Jumpers can usually do a few days too. Underwear and socks are always put in the wash each night!!!

WeWantSweet · 06/11/2019 21:18

YANBU. Just because we can wash ourselves and our clothes more easily now, doesn't mean if we don't choose to we stink.

CokeAndCrispsAndDip · 06/11/2019 21:19

Well I must be a stinky moo. Jean's can be worn a week, tops if not sweaty 3-4 days with socks and knickers changed and bra maybe every 4 days. I wash every night and my kids would be quick to tell me if I smelt. Oh well, just call me Stig

Fuzzywuzzywuzzy · 06/11/2019 21:20

Underwear, top and tights goes in the wash. Everything else gets worn again over the following days in different combinations.

Rule only broken for obvious staining.

museumum · 06/11/2019 21:22

I wouldn’t wear the same dress two days in a row but I wouldn’t necessarily wash it every wear, id hang it up and wear it again in a few days or the next week.

LolaSmiles · 06/11/2019 21:22

I wear until they smell or are marked, except underwear obviously.

There's no need to be washing after one wear for many items.

NoSquirrels · 06/11/2019 21:29

I don’t wash anything automatically except ‘body layers’ (pants, tights, vest tops, close-fitting t-shirts etc).

But I wouldn’t wear the same outfit 2 days running. I’d probably do Mon & Thurs or Tues & Fri, or mix-match bits of the outfit with different items e.g. rewear shirt with a jumper over it or different trousers instead of with a skirt.

Etinox · 06/11/2019 21:31

I don’t sweat, and toddler days long behind me it’s more the wearing twice in a row to work thing that horrified her.

daisyjgrey · 06/11/2019 21:33

Technically you're not supposed to wash proper jeans (not the stretchy cheap ones but 'proper' ones) at all.
I read an article on it a while ago that said something about putting them in the freezer to kill any germs and hanging them on the line in the sun to air but not to actually put them in the washing machine.

NoSquirrels · 06/11/2019 21:36

The two days in a row thing is a bit “didn’t make it home last night” or “slept in my clothes and haven’t washed”. It may not be true but fur appearances sake most people don’t do it to work!

Time40 · 06/11/2019 21:38

I think it's fine to wear clothes more than once, but I'd never wear the same thing two days running. Clothes need to rest, and they need to air.
