To wear the same clothes twice?!

Do you wear the same outfit 2 days running? I’m never at the same site 2 days in a row but often same colleagues. Idly musing ‘what shall I wear tomorrow, I wore this yesterday’ and its definitely into the wash tonight as I’ve cooked in it and DD was horrified.

For work, the same trousers or skirt, but not top. At home sure, I'll wear it for two or three days.

BlueJava · 06/11/2019 21:41

I don't wear the same thing 2 days running but i do wear the same thing teice or even 3 times. Shirts and underwear only worn once though.

FairyBatman · 06/11/2019 21:43

Back in the wardrobe to rewear. Never the same outfit 2 days running.

DontCallMeShitley · 06/11/2019 21:44

Jeans and trousers get washed more often than tops. Think about where they spend their day.

EskewedBeef · 06/11/2019 21:48

Yes, I wear the same thing more than once, and sometimes two days running.

Jeans and trousers get washed more often than tops. Think about where they spend their day.

Underwear gives the barrier that you don't get between sweaty armpits and tops.

AutumnGlitterBall · 06/11/2019 21:49

I usually have a couple of pairs of jeans and jumpers on the go for alternate days and then wash them after a few wearings (unless something is spilled on them). Obviously underwear and vests get changed daily. I wear a uniform to work and I’ll change the top but keep the trousers for the run of shifts which is three or four days.

ISawyouinTescoyesterday · 06/11/2019 21:50

I often wear jeans two days running. If they are clean no point in washing for nothing.

Iamblossom · 06/11/2019 21:58

I often wear things more than once before washing but never on consecutive days I just put them back in the wardrobe

Dollywilde · 06/11/2019 22:01

As others. Wearing the same thing twice - absolutely fine. Two days in a row - reminds me too much of sneaking into work after staying out all night at 21 Grin

SarahAndQuack · 06/11/2019 22:01

I'd usually rotate clean clothes rather than wearing two days running, partly because I think it looks as if I'd been out on the town (chance would be a fine thing!), and partly because I think it's probably good to air them if not washing. But YY, definitely agree you're not always mucky enough for a change. These days I work from home a lot, so realistically my outfit has only seen the inside of my car for 10 minutes as I drop DD at nursery, then nine hours sitting at home at my clean desk, then another 10 minutes. If I don't cook (food smells cling), I'm really unlikely to feel my clothes are in need of a wash.

Bluerussian · 06/11/2019 22:08

Depends what clothes. I wouldn't wear a blouse or shirt two days running but jacket, skirt, trousers I would if they were clean. The weather influences those decisions, when it is powerfully hot and sweaty as it was up to a few weeks ago, I'd usually wear something cotton-y, like a dress, skirt, shirt, trousers, easily washable and never worn twice.

helpfulperson · 06/11/2019 22:10

I once wore the same outfit two days in a row to work thinking no one would notice. I'd gone out for a night out with non-work friends and ended up staying over with a friend.

I was amazed at how many of my colleagues (knowing I'd been on a night out (and am single)) made jokes about my having pulled the night before and not gone home.

I would wear things twice but not on consecutive days

AnyOldPrion · 06/11/2019 22:14

I have loads of clothes that look the same as when I find something I like, I sometimes buy several. People must think I’m a manky fucker!

That said, yes, I generally rewear clothes until I spill something. I’m messy, so that probably only takes a day or two. Failing spillage, I probably round everything up and wash it over the weekend.

Devaki · 06/11/2019 22:17

I have to wear jeans more than once as I have one pair . And a few tops. That's my wardrobe at the moment.

ThatMuppetShow · 06/11/2019 22:18

I sometimes wear similar clothes 4 or 5 days in a row, I bet no one knows if they are the same clothes or not - or care! As in black trousers or black suit, white top. Some days I can't be arsed, and I have a collection of black work suits, so I just wear them.
I have a collection of similar looking shoes, bet none of the guys has notice the difference.

I change clothes every day, but not necessarily the look. Depends how busy I am, how little I care, and the colour of the 1st bra I pick up (I do change my bra every day, but as they are washed with similar colour, I might pick a new white bra every day for a week...)

Gwenhwyfar · 06/11/2019 22:19

"but fur appearances sake most people don’t do it to work!"

What do you mean 'most' people don't do it? Have you checked?
Very few people would notice if you wear the same thing two days running. I do it all the time. I get A LOT of wear out of my clothes. Only knickers, socks and tights have to be changed every day. Tops changed every day in the summer, but every two days in the winter and my dresses go on over those so only need to be washed if there's an obvious mark.

DirtyWindow · 06/11/2019 22:19

I don't wear the same outfit two days running (put things back in the wardrobe to be worn later in the week) but I fully acknowledge that this is ridiculous. Men will wear the same suit or the same jeans and jumper for days on end and no one blinks an eye.

U2HasTheEdge · 06/11/2019 22:20

I will wear jeans/trousers for days in a row.

Tops only get washed when they smell or are dirty.

I would wear them two days in a row at home for sure, but not for work. This is why I have just had to buy some new clothes. I just started full time work so can't get away with not having many clothes.

Poppinjay · 06/11/2019 22:21

I'm amazed that anyone wold notice a colleague wearing the same clothes two days in a row.

SarahAndQuack · 06/11/2019 22:21

Really, @poppinjay? Why?

TartanMarbled · 06/11/2019 22:23

I would judge someone if they wore the same thing for two days in a row, though not if they wore the same thing twice (with a few days in between) without washing it.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/11/2019 22:23

I wear the same stuff for a maximum of two days. (Fresh underwear daily though) unless it's very hot and then all fresh daily.

Poppinjay · 06/11/2019 22:23

Why?

Why would they?

Unless someone wears unusual or particularly noticeable outfits, why would you keep track?

Redspider1 · 06/11/2019 22:24

Of course it’s fine. Do try to change into sweats or similar and hang up clothes after work to keep your work things looking their best.

Craftycorvid · 06/11/2019 22:25

Not two consecutive days, but I will ‘air’ my once-worn clothes on the radiator and wear again in a few days. Natural fibres, especially wool, are self-cleaning and don’t need washing loads.
