Inspired by the excellent thread on songs.

Mine is Titanic. Billy Zane is marrying Rose knowing he is used as a money mule to help the family - she then cheats on him, flaunts it, and he is somehow the bad guy. WTAF. If roles were reversed it was be horrendous. Just because Leo was hot doesn’t make it ok 😁

@questionablemouse. I was rooting for the sharks from the first five minutes. Just as I did with the other shitty shark movie - the Shallows.

Redcrayons · 10/11/2019 13:52

@iklboo I thought mythbusters proved the opposite. Now I know I'm justified, I'm going to be even worse.

@QuestionableMouse she didn't exactly try very hard to get Jack on the door.

I loved Yesterday, although I did tut at the bit when they where running around Liverpool because they were going in the wrong direction for the train station. One of them comes out of the 'hotel' which isn't a hotel IRL and turns right, he should have been straight in the Mersey. (I used to work in that building).

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2019 13:54

Was Blake Lively in Open Water ? If not she was in another sharkbased film that i kept falling asleep watching and i can't remember or didn't care what happened to her!

No that was The Shallows and i really liked that film.

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2019 14:13

Was it I didn't rate it at all.

LemonRedwood · 10/11/2019 14:42

@HotSauceCommittee I don't think you understood It's A Wonderful Life. All the children are the "librarian's" children!

yolofish · 10/11/2019 14:43

dont know if any of you can remember this film: couple on a boat somewhere exotic, boathand turns out to be a pyschopath? we were on holiday and it was on TV every single bloody night!!

1066vegan · 10/11/2019 14:45

@ yolofish I think you're probably thinking of Dead Calm with Nicole Kidman.

TheSandman · 10/11/2019 15:20

Yep that's Dead Calm - Billy Zane and Sam Neill in it too. Orson Welles filmed the same story back in the 60s but the lead died half way through shooting so it never got finished.

yolofish · 10/11/2019 17:17

oh god yes Dead Calm! I never, ever want to see it again... I will add it to my list of stupid boat films inc Titanic, Perfect Storm etc My dad was a submariner - I can watch Das Boot ad infintum!

HoppyHop · 10/11/2019 17:19

City of Angels, urghhh oh and Armageddon/Deep impact

The80sweregreat · 10/11/2019 18:35

The cheesy Hallmark Christmas films on channel 5 are dreadful and the lead women are all pretty/ thin/ wonderful / clever and the men a bit flawed , but basically ok.
Always a baddie thrown in or a cute child wise beyond their years ( who has children like this in real life?) who can give advice and wisecrack like mini adults not to mention ' knowing looks' that their mum will get together with good looking lead man.
As fake as the fake snow that lines the very clean surroundings.

Redcrayons · 10/11/2019 19:06

I'm very low brow, cheesy Hallmark Christmas films are my guilty pleasure.

MsTSwift · 10/11/2019 19:19

Watched one of those cheesy films called “the Christmas rabbit” with my then 7 and 9 year olds who loved rabbits. Never had a film been more misleading. It was about a dysfunctional family the dad was a violent alcoholic the mum neglectful the disturbed brother pushed the bunny on a sledge in the snow then shot at it both girls in tears this was shown at 5pm! Years later they still talk about it in horrified tones!

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2019 19:32

I love a ch5 Christmas film but I won't watch them till December

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2019 19:33

Dead rabbits? Gosh , not on the odd film I've watched on channel 5 Christmas slot! That's not good! Maybe they put the wrong film on that day?
I guess they are a bit of escapism but not for me.

MerryDeath · 10/11/2019 19:47

Shockthe shape of water was the best film i've seen in years

i like most of these films for one reason or another! i would turn off/not watch in the first place the shite like SATC (hate when tv tries to cinema), harry potter (hate precocious child actors mauling some of the greatest books of all time)

The80sweregreat · 10/11/2019 19:50

I don't get how people understand the Potter films when the books are quite complex at times.
There was a big gap between each film so how anyone had a clue without resorting to reading the books I don't know!

Marley and me.
I was ready to shoot the bloody dog myself, (and Jennifer Aniston).

EerieSilence · 10/11/2019 20:10

Titanic. You feel sorry fo the people who had died so the movie could be made.
Anything with Leo Caprio for that matter. Can’t stand him.
Likewise Jim Carey. Dumb, Dumber and me ready to murder people. Final Destination - thought it was. a dark comedy for a while. Ridiculous plot. Likewise the Perfect Storm.
Anything with John Wayne. Racist, misogynistic one man show.
Gone with the Wind and the depiction of slavery as something that was good for the slaves.
Anything by Tarantino - just meaningless stupid violence or Lars von Trier - that man must hate women with passion.

GCAcademic · 10/11/2019 20:26

Oddly enough, both of my worst two films star Julia Roberts.

Pretty Woman - hideous, hideous story and message.

Eat, Pray, Love - I desperately wanted the insufferable, navel-gazing protagonist to get food poisoning and die. And the shallow, arrogant stereotyping of other cultures was up there with SATC2.

GabsAlot · 10/11/2019 20:55

Eerie i liked the firs final destination thought it was a good plot but it carried on way too long werent there 5 sewquels?

Jim carrey i can understand why hes marmite but if your want to see him not act zany number 23 and man on the moon are great-he is zany in the latter but playing andy kaufan
