Inspired by the excellent thread on songs.

Mine is Titanic. Billy Zane is marrying Rose knowing he is used as a money mule to help the family - she then cheats on him, flaunts it, and he is somehow the bad guy. WTAF. If roles were reversed it was be horrendous. Just because Leo was hot doesn’t make it ok 😁

Is The Break Up the one With Jennifer Aniston?
From the trailer you’d think it’s a romcom. It’s actually really sad, I cried at the bit where she went to the concert on her own.

GabsAlot · 07/11/2019 19:42

I liked sliding doors till the end when they killed her off and then he met the other one-er ok

Fifty shades of shite never seen such crap in my life why is it rated as romantic?

CracklingUp · 07/11/2019 19:55

Good Will Hunting. Matt Damon and Robin William film about an unlikely maths genious janitor. Makes my blood boil for some reason. So implausible and worthy. Can't believe it won an Academy award

crispysausagerolls · 07/11/2019 20:04

The English Patient. About an hour in I shouted at the screen - was watching on DVD or video so I didn't cause a kerfuffle in the cinema - "why don't all of you die, you utter fucking cunts!

STRONGLYAGREE! so bloody boring

@Lifetheuniverseandeverything

So agree re Hereditary. It seemed to be quite good for a while and as I'm fascinated my miniatures I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but oh my god the ending and the lead up to the ending was just mentally stupid and ruined what might have been a decent horror film. And then it kept getting all the "Ooh, one of the best horror films ever!" praise. Had these people ever seen a horror film?! I was so bloody cross that I'd wasted however many hours of my life watching it. Pure shite.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/11/2019 20:16

Watchmen as mentioned above. Might have made a good TV series, but shoehorned into one stupidly long film? Ugh. Also Dr Manhatten really needed to wear some pants, the big blue dong was too distracting from the turgid plot.
I also watched Wounds. Um? Was something supposed to happen? I feel like I missed something there.
I also am generally unmoved by musicals. Probably due to being forced to watch things like Mary Poppins or Chitty Shitty Bang Bang and being told I HAD to like them as I was a girl. I didn't like them. I found them a combination of dull and annoying.
I did make the mistake of watching La La Land. Ugh. I hate musicals.

Pinkblueberry · 07/11/2019 20:21

Any film that thinks it’s intelligent or clever when it’s actually just plain boring - this includes many recent Oscar winners. If a film wins an Oscar now it makes me not want to see it quite frankly.

MargotsBumpyNight · 07/11/2019 20:23

I Am Legend. Absolutely no resemblance to the book whatsoever. Not even the name of the main character. Abysmal garbage, had me shouting at the screen.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 07/11/2019 20:24

Has anyone else seen Closer? With Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Jude Law and Natalie Portman?
Awful people doing awful things to each other. I give you this spectacular piece of dialogue:

Larry : Do you enjoy sucking him off?
Anna : Yes!
Larry : You like his cock?
Anna : I love it!
Larry : You like him coming in your face?
Anna : Yes!
Larry : What does it taste like?
Anna : It tastes like you but sweeter!
Larry : That's the spirit. Thank you. Thank you for your honesty. Now fuck off and die, you fucked up slag.

iklboo · 07/11/2019 20:24

Agree about Hereditary. It's like someone was running about with two scripts, tripped, dropped them and then sufficed them together any old how.

MargotsBumpyNight · 07/11/2019 20:24

Oh and that film which was just Leonardo DiCaprio grunting for about three weeks.

Mrsjayy · 07/11/2019 20:25

I recorded Moonlight and tried to watch it on Friday night I put it off after half an hour it was just dull and it got an Oscar

CoolCarrie · 07/11/2019 20:33

Saving Private Ryan is based on a true story, so yes the US army DID move heaven and earth to save one man alibongo5

DoIHaveAChoice · 07/11/2019 20:35

Aridane totally with you RE Pretty Woman. But every woman I say this to snubs me for my lack of romance and being cynical.

But my suggestion, based on my most recent Netflix film...

Eli

Omg. Utter rubbish with the most ludicrous nonsensical ending that just pops out of nowhere after such a looong boring drawn out build up.

If you haven't watched it yet, don't waste your life

Vivianebrookskoviak · 07/11/2019 20:41

There's Something About Mary and Deuce Bigalow- Male Gigolo. Basically anything made by the Farelly Brothers really, the kinda humour that's too immature for even a 12 year old.

DoIHaveAChoice · 07/11/2019 20:42

Oh, and the remake of BFG

I love that book, I love the film with David Jason voicing the BFG

I HATE HATE HATE the recent remake. The BFG had no personality or charisma, it missed out out KEY elements of the story and Sophie was as wooden as a plank.

Went to the cinema to watch it and was bitterly disappointed. So much beautiful potential with today's cinematic technology just wasted.

Bozlem80 · 07/11/2019 20:43

The Greatest Showman, it’s bloody sad & depressing & then they break into song every 5 minutes 😤

Revenant by any chance?

elliejjtiny · 07/11/2019 20:52

Confessions of a shopaholic. Because it's totally different to the book

so true! The cast choice was just wrong, absolutely utterly wrong.
Such a lighthearted subject, should have been so easy to get it right.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/11/2019 21:02

Braveheart. Utter tosh. Historically inaccurate. But undoubtedly responsible for a million yes votes in Scotland. That's my theory anyway Grin

Milsplus3 · 07/11/2019 21:05

Main ones for me:
Love actually - Cringy and crap
Greatest showman - confused by the popularity for this
Avatar - wtf is going on
Harry Potter - overrated
Anything with Julia stiles miserable face in it
Bridget Jones baby - too try hard and not fitting with first two
Fifty shades of grey - crap acting and storylines
Any ‘chick flick’ type film is unbearable
I’m sure there’s plenty more I can think of...

Milsplus3 · 07/11/2019 21:06

Halloween (2018 version) completely pointless and acting worse than originals

Celestine70 · 07/11/2019 21:10

Think it was measles.

Such as Lost in Translation. Scarlett Johanson mooching about in her knickers and not shagging a bloke old enough to be her dad. Gripping stuff.

Taking of old blokes, anything with Sean Connery with a female co-star forty years his junior. First Knight for one. Or Entrapment.
