To despise my Dyson more than words can describe

I have never loathed a domestic appliance before but God I hate this piece of crap. Every single time I try to use it, it either runs out of charge halfway through the job, or it is constantly getting blocked and doing that infuriating pulsating thing. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps on the website and waited 15 mins on the phone to the helpline which is apparently very busy today so maybe I'm not the only one that wants to thrown it out of a top floor window and go and buy a Meile.

It's a V7 animal. Don't buy one 😡

I love my Dyson. Strongest sucker I've ever owned. But it is a proper plug in one. I don't trust any of these cordless new fangled ones.

Sallyseagull · 06/11/2019 13:23

I had the same one and also hated it.

Ended up buying a £40 Hoover that was better albeit not cordless.

OopsISnappedAndFarted · 06/11/2019 13:25

Same! Brand new upright and the thing is constantly getting blocked.. when it works, it’s great though!

chartreuse · 06/11/2019 13:27

I didn't want it in the first place which is adding insult to injury. I wanted another meile cat and dog, the previous one lasted 12 years, but DH was so keen to get a cordless dyson I gave in. Of course he never uses it...

I adore mine but don't have (indoor) pets

chartreuse · 06/11/2019 13:28

Well that's true, it is great when it works but I'd say that's about 30% of the occasions I try to use it.

The uselessness of corded vacuum cleaners often far outweighs the minor inconvenience of plugging something in.

My cordless dyson is an older model but I generally see a mess, pick it up, try to use it, get frustrated with the crumbs just flying everywhere or staying firmly put and grab either a broom or the corded miele that cost half as much.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/11/2019 13:29

They're terrible at bigger stuff, my kids leave little bits of cut up paper everywhere constantly and I have to pick them up before hoovering. Aside from that mine is fine, as long as you don't try and do the whole house in one go.

sheshootssheimplores · 06/11/2019 13:30

I use a Miele at work and it’s amazing
!

chartreuse · 06/11/2019 13:30

It's so frustrating having to pick stuff up, before you Hoover because every little thing blocks it up. It's only good for crumbs as far as I can see.

I have found my people. We have the v11 having previously had a Henry and my GOD I miss Henry. I dont see the point in having to go round picking bits up before I hoover!!!

I HATE it.

PerUnaBombers · 06/11/2019 13:35

My Miele hepa conked out yesterday after 16 years’ sterling service. Got a new cat n dog, no way will I have a Dyson- ex’s brother works there and we had two (Miele was banned to the loft for the 2 years he lived with me) and I hated them both with a passion. Especially when emptying them into the bin released a cloud of dust.

ChessIsASport · 06/11/2019 13:35

I love my Dyson but it is one that plugs in. It beats the Miele cat and dog hands down for me. I was glad to get rid of the Miele when it went literally up in in smoke.

I love my robot vacuum most of all though!

MoMandaS · 06/11/2019 13:37

You need a GTech!

norfolkskies · 06/11/2019 13:37

i have had a corded dyson for years. beats a crappy henry! (i used one a center parcs and my neighbours once).

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/11/2019 13:37

I love mine, and I have 4 long haired cats! It doesn't pick up quite as well as the miele but that's outweighed by the convenience and the fact I hoover much more regularly with the cordless.

loserssaywhat · 06/11/2019 13:38

Yep I've had 2, a corded one a few years ago and a new cordless contraption...they are great for the first few months but then gradually just get shitter and shitter! Packed mine in and bought a henry and so glad I did.

nmc99 · 06/11/2019 13:38

I'm with you every step of the way OP hate it

Coldilox · 06/11/2019 13:39

I’ve loved my cordless Dyson, had it for years and it’s brilliant. Going to need replacing soon but won’t be buying another - can’t give that awful man anymore of my money. Looking at a cordless shark

chartreuse · 06/11/2019 13:40

I feel much better knowing it's not just me!
Sincere sympathy to all other frustrated dyson owners!

Hate mine. It always gets blocked. Drives me crackers

MitziK · 06/11/2019 13:42

I hated my corded Dyson for the number of times I had to take the fucking thing apart for expecting to do something unreasonable, such as vacuum up things.

I think my Miele bagless is great, though - and so does DP - it's the CX1 blizzard one. If they did a cordless, I'd think about it, but they don't, which suggests to me that they know they're shit and can't do anything about it.

Redshoeblueshoe · 06/11/2019 13:43

I hate mine. It's not cordless but it's fucking useless.
It's the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had.
Best was a cheap one from Asda which I gave away when I moved big mistake

firstimemamma · 06/11/2019 13:44

I love mine so much, sorry op.

Userzzzzz · 06/11/2019 13:44

Have you tried changing the filter? Mine was doing the annoying pulsing thing and generally being a pain but we bought some new filters from amazon and it has been like new again. The difference was amazing.
