To despise my Dyson more than words can describe

I have never loathed a domestic appliance before but God I hate this piece of crap. Every single time I try to use it, it either runs out of charge halfway through the job, or it is constantly getting blocked and doing that infuriating pulsating thing. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps on the website and waited 15 mins on the phone to the helpline which is apparently very busy today so maybe I'm not the only one that wants to thrown it out of a top floor window and go and buy a Meile.

It's a V7 animal. Don't buy one 😡

Dyson not Dustin

badfurday · 07/11/2019 05:26

I'm with you OP. I absolutely hate my cordless dyson, it's such a bloody diva.
Always getting blocked and pulsing, crap battery, and already has a part replaced in the few months I've owned it. I loved the idea of a cordless to do a quick hoover round but end up spending more time trying to nurse it into heath. Fucking thing.

I also have a Henry, Henry is the king of hoovers for me eats absolutely everything and never gets blocked. If they did a Henry cordless I'd be first in line.

I was only saying to DH the other day that our cordless Dyson is the worst electrical item we've ever bought. The battery has had to be replaced, we get the pulsating unless we keep changing the filter, it barely has any suction and I noticed the other day that the main head is all cracked and about to fall apart. Not sure what we should replace it with but I will never buy a Dyson again.

Weird! I love my Dyson. I bought my sister an Animal for Xmas last year and she still tells me how much she loves it most times we speak.

Imonaplane · 07/11/2019 09:53

I have a V8 cordless. For the first year it was quite good but now it is utter shite. Out of warranty, the battery lasts 8 - 10 minutes if I'm lucky and don't turn on the boost. I also have a Miele cat and Dog bagless - it's brilliant ( I have 3 large dogs). If you want an upright cleaner then the Sebo ones are excellent too.

RuggyPeg · 07/11/2019 12:53

Meile for me.

safariboot · 07/11/2019 13:04

YANBU.

I like our V6 cordless, but even I recognise its drawbacks. I just prefer it to a big heavy corded upright. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

I LOVE my DC Animal. You're supposed to wash the filter which is on the top, every month in plain water and air dry naturally. Since I've done this routinely I haven't had a problem. It's a good idea to simply empty the debris container after each use and keep it connected to it's charging cradle on the wall. This way, every time you use it, it's then fully charged for the next use. I've never had a problem with running out of charge but I hoover every day so it's a quick job.

The rechargeable batteries on the cordless dysons are just like mobile batteries really, designed to last a couple of years being constantly charged and then they deteriorate. I replaced the battery on mine as it wasn’t holding the charge long enough after 3 years. It’s like a brand new one and only cost about £70 so I actually think that’s really good value.

Cocoismydog · 08/11/2019 20:44

I love my Dyson V7!

Crunchymum · 08/11/2019 20:51

We have a Henry and other than the time he nearly killed me (I was doing stairs with him above me and he toppled over and landed on me!!) he has been fine.

My Samsung Ecobubble on the other hand has been the most godawful appliance I've ever encountered. I was over the moon when it broke recently!!!

Geschwister4 · 08/11/2019 20:53

I didn't want it in the first place which is adding insult to injury. I wanted another meile cat and dog, the previous one lasted 12 years, but DH was so keen to get a cordless dyson I gave in. Of course he never uses it...

Do we share the same DH? That is actually mine did, bought one without consulting me. I hated it and it hated me, always went wrong when I used it. It loved DH though, always worked for him. I swear it actually tried to kill me, blew itself up while I was using it. Hmm We got a Henry after that!

GookledyGobb · 08/11/2019 20:53

Hate my Dyson for all the reasons above love my Henry. Yes he falls over and bumps into stuff and generally acts like a drunk but he always has suction. Sometimes so much he gets stuck to the floor

Geschwister4 · 08/11/2019 20:55

X post Crunchymum What is it with these killer domestic appliances?

Proseccoagain · 08/11/2019 22:23

I have a Shark cordless lift away, the pet one; it is brilliant; has made my stairs carpet look like new.
