To despise my Dyson more than words can describe

I have never loathed a domestic appliance before but God I hate this piece of crap. Every single time I try to use it, it either runs out of charge halfway through the job, or it is constantly getting blocked and doing that infuriating pulsating thing. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps on the website and waited 15 mins on the phone to the helpline which is apparently very busy today so maybe I'm not the only one that wants to thrown it out of a top floor window and go and buy a Meile.

It's a V7 animal. Don't buy one 😡

Oh God - I thought it was just me! Every swearword here has been flung at the useless thing. I start feeling apoplectic just passing it in a corner. It’s the closest I’ve come to violence in my entire life. Halloween Angry

When I think of the utter perfection and joy of my old, heavy, corded Vax. Even over three floors. Voracious, eager, energetic.

Blasted stick simply doesn’t understand what it’s for.

Chloemol · 06/11/2019 19:51

I hate them. I refuse to have one ( good old Henry or a vax) but my mum and sister have them. Really hate them, heavy, the damn ball won’t do as it’s told, Having to take it apart a lot. Awful things

jnl0612 · 06/11/2019 19:55

I've got one... I bloody hate it too. It's useless !

WelcomeToShootingStars · 06/11/2019 19:56

YANBU, Dysons are shit

MrsToothyBitch · 06/11/2019 19:57

I don't get on with Dysons either. I have a g tech cordless & love it

PumpkinP · 06/11/2019 20:00

I hate my Henry, it really is the worst Hoover ever. Can’t believe they are rated so highly. Everyone raves about shark so I’m hoping to get one in the Black Friday deals

Jellykat · 06/11/2019 20:08

I use a Dyson in one of my jobs and its a pile of crap,i also dislike Mr Dyson for the record.. thank goodness my bosses at another job have a Henry, as do i at home.

whattodo2019 · 06/11/2019 20:24

I have just bought the Dyson Animal plus in. It's amazing!! I look like I have new carpets

ItsMischerWavy · 06/11/2019 20:27

God I hate dysons. MIL is a Dyson fiend (and also a housework fiend). Her downstairs hoover broke the other day so I convinced her to get a shark. To prove a point I went and hoovered the upstairs (where the Dyson is) and the amount the shark picked up was incredible!
Had mine nearly a year and still marvel at how good it is lol

namina · 06/11/2019 20:33

Same here it is constantly getting blocked drives me insane. Wish I hadn't bought the bloody thing!

TheSandman · 06/11/2019 20:39

Best vacuum cleaner I ever had (still do) was a Panasonic. The machine itself was great but the pipes and tools gave out after about 25 years - despite my attempts to fix them with welded on pieces of plastic drainage pipes of the right diameters. It now lives in the workshop and gets sawdust out from under the circular saw and other interesting places. Replaced it in the house with a Henry after observing that every hotel, hospital, school, and kitchen I had ever worked in used Henrys.
I've never seen a Dyson in a work environment - apart from their Airblade hand dryers. They're good.

Sallycinnamum · 06/11/2019 20:45

I love my Dyson but after it did that annoying pulsating thing I have the filter a proper wash rather than just wafting it under the tap.

My god, the amount of dirt that cane out of it was amazing and now the machine is working brilliantly. Might be worth a try.

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/11/2019 20:47

I have one and it’s also a piece of crap! I only use the hand held part. I’ve gone back to my old Dyson upright and our Miele one now apart from on the stairs and sofas etc. (Yes we have a crazy number of vacuum cleaners...)

utterlybutterly8 · 06/11/2019 20:50

I honestly love mine - I almost look forward to using it because it’s such a joy! I like the way it’s so lightweight compared to my old, very heavy corded Dyson. It has never blocked either.

utterlybutterly8 · 06/11/2019 20:51

My god, the amount of dirt that cane out of it was amazing and now the machine is working brilliantly.

So satisfying! Grin

MrsApplepants · 06/11/2019 20:54

Love my Shark. Only trouble is, can’t stop singing the bloody baby shark song when using it...

utterlybutterly8 · 06/11/2019 20:55

Hated the dyson! Didn't touch the dog hair on our carpets.

I’ve had the opposite experience - I have a long-haired cat and the Dyson collects so much hair.

TwoPupsandaHamster · 06/11/2019 23:02

@Rafflesway

Thank you for that. A Shark it is then.

MidniteScribbler · 06/11/2019 23:24

I hated mine. Finally got rid of it and bought a $40 cheapie from KMart. It's a million times better.

cantpick · 07/11/2019 03:18

I've got the V10. It's amazing. The amount of dust it pulls out of the carpets even after it's been vacuumed with Roomba or the big vac. Don't really have problems with things getting stuck. Just make sure to clean the filter regularly.

cantpick · 07/11/2019 03:19

What are people's vacuums getting blocked with?

Happysummer2020 · 07/11/2019 03:48

Yea my plug in Dyson is also rubbish and does the pulsating thing. They get blocked with hair typically (human or dog).

When it ultimately gives out I'll replace with a Miele.

Peridot1 · 07/11/2019 04:35

Love mine. Have two very hairy labradors. We are on our second cordless Dyson. Can’t remember which model.

Have a Miele cat and dog too which is good but I use the Dyson more.

Our cleaner uses the Miele but I’ve noticed that if I do the living room with the Dyson and run it along the carpets really slowly they come up much cleaner than with the Miele. I must try using the Miele slowly to see if it’s the same.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 07/11/2019 04:55

I love mine but it’s small lightweight rollerball one. Easy to empty, had it years, never change the filters and only had to replace the head once which was so easy.

Drbrowns · 07/11/2019 05:07

I had an upright Dustin before and I shred it. It never picked up any dirt and kept falling over. I swore I’d never buy anime dyson product again. Really want a cordless vacuum for the kitchen and looking at getting a shark.
